Vladimir Putin has accepted an invitation to replace Donald Trump at this year’s White House correspondents dinner after Trump tweeted he wouldn’t be attending this year. “Why have the puppet when you can have the puppeteer?”, said key organizers of the dinner. “Trump is rather thin skinned and he’s afraid that other people will do to him what he’s done to other presidents. Trump is going to stay home and tweet about it.”

Putin will be seated next to Trump’s current wife Melinia who was also born in the former Soviet Union. Putin is expected to joke about that there is no truth to the rumors that she is a KGB agent, or that he is having an affair with Trump’s wife. Vodka will be served with the meal.

  1. Mr Diesel - Fake News....Again says:

Marc, you are better than this.

    • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Diesel, you aren’t better than this. You ignore all the evidence and slavishly support your man-baby president. You’d be a disgrace if you weren’t a wingnut. Since you are, it’s all we expect of you.

Go cry, baby wingnut. Life is so unfair. Boo hoo.

      🙄

    • NewFormatSux says:

He really isn’t. There has been a shocking decline in both the quantity and quality of his trolling.

  2. Bryon says:

Just more pathetic crying from the left. The same party that demanded a “peaceful transition of power”.

    • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

F off, Bryon. After the venom and hatred and complete obstruction the Republicans indulged in when Obama was elected, you have exactly zero legs to stand on.

It hurts when it happens to you, doesn’t it? Poor little wingnut, whining like your man-baby president. 🙄

      • Brian says:

Blow me faggot. The excuse of “but they did it too” only works for children under the age of 3.

I’m a liberal, and you are a fucking embarrassment.

        • bobbo, are we Men of Science, or Devo says:

Its a case book demonstration of “false equivalency” trying to equate what the Pukes did to Obama with what Democrats and now even some Republicans (Darrell Issa eg) are doing IN RESPONSE to T.Rump.

          Liberals aren’t so stoopid.

        • Mr Diesel - Language says:

Hey Brian, I don’t you telling someone to fuck off or calling them a libtard, repuke or idiot but why a derogatory name implying someone’s sexual preference bullshit?

I may disagree with Phydeau and I’m sure he’ll most likely rip me for even standing up for him but I won’t stoop to low-life name calling.

          • jpfitz says:

Nah, you only rejoice when a young black man is executed by two masked chicken shite men.

        • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Aw Bryon/Brian, did I hurt your little fee-fees? You might want to watch that potty mouth. 😉

The Republicans started this game with Obama, that’s the way it’s played now. The Democrats will strike back just as hard, I hope. Or do you want the D’s to keep bringing a knife to a gun fight? What kind of “liberal” are you? 🙄

Not so much fun when you’re on the receiving end, is it?

        • Marc Perkel says:

          Liberal don’t call people faggot.

          • Mr Diesel - Language says:

Hey, how come no post about Elon sending a couple around the moon?

          • MikeN says:

            Yet you posted nigger.

          • MikeN says:

I was curious about that. I suspect he’s mad that he wasn’t picked after all his toadying.

          • IM78 says:

Notwithstanding the grammar error, what makes you some kind of expert on Liberals?

          • Mr Diesel - Language says:

            MikeN,

When did you see me post that word?

I haven’t said the word let alone written it for over 30 years and probably more like 35.

          • MikeN says:

Diesel, it was a reply to Marc. He posted it I think sometime last year. Like all good liberals he does it while attributing it to someone else, a la Leo in Django.

          • MikeN says:

The second post was a reply to you. Marc is upset he didn’t get a seat on the flight. I think he should be given that seat, the airlock will blow, and Marc will be in space saying that the engineers let Elon down.

          • Mr Diesel - Language says:

MikeN, Thanks for the clarification. I do a lot of stupid things but using that word isn’t one of them.

  3. Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

    LOL

Aw, the wingnuts got their fee-fees hurt, just like their big orange hero?

Big tough wingnuts sure can dish it out, but curl up in a fetal position if anyone makes fun of their thin-skinned man-baby. 🙄 🙄 🙄

And what makes it so funny is the truth in it. Why won’t Trump release his tax returns? What is he hiding? Why is his chief of staff calling the FBI telling them to back off? Sure looks suspicious.

    • Brian says:

The tolerant lefty Phydeau doesn’t like Gingers, women, Russians or apparently Yugoslavs now.

      Beat it twink.

      • NewFormatSux says:

It was established some time ago that Phydeau IS ginger.

They’re the ones who tend to submit to Islamists.

    • NewFormatSux says:

He didn’t tell the FBI to back off. He wanted them to speak the truth and reveal the fake news to be lies.

    • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Trump can solve this whole Russia thing by releasing his tax returns and showing that there’s no involvement there.

      But he won’t. Hm.

      • IM78 says:

Obviously you think there is some connection between Trumps tax returns and the Russian Federation, but I don’t see it. Please explain.

  4. Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Marc, you aren’t going to get any wingnut traffic on your blog with articles like this. 🙁

    • jpfitz says:

The fake news story by Marc Is funny. I did notice not one Grammer or spelling error.

Phydeau I always root for the underdog, you seem outnumbered so I gotta have your back. You are dead on correct about all the wing nut hate by the Republican party when a supposed muslim from Kenya was elected president. Anyone who believes differently has a memory problem or a selective memory. I AM Sick and disgusted by the blatant lies or memory loss. So, play nice, we’re all in this together as American people who have differing political ideology.

      • bobbo, are we Men of Science, or Devo says:

“grammar”—just b/c you raised the issue along with “how would you know?”

        snark, Snark,………SNARK.

I don’t even care about spelling…….. just saying.

…………… and STOP posting as if I’m not the toilet paper stuck on fido’s shoe.

        • jpfitz says:

I know Marc Can spell, though in the past he had many typos, and you’re right, who cares. Today’s technology can fix almost anything, except…you know what, and who.

Sorry if I stepped on your toes bobbo. Yes you have been here All the time arguing for sanity and trying to even the keel.

          But…..RASPBERRIES.

          • bobbo, are we Men of Science, or Devo says:

jp: always with the kind words…….. and minority opinion.

I actually don’t have anyone’s back. Every issue stands on its own.

Using that standard, the WingNuts only look really, really, really stupid about 97.3 % of the time. Not bad. A highwater mark for them.

  5. McCullough says:

If 2 of the commenters don’t give it a rest, I swear I will turn this car around.

    What a bunch of children.

  6. Ah_Yea says:

I thought the post was funny.

I mean, you can’t take this stuff too seriously. Not to mention Putin would be more interesting.

  7. bobbo, are we Men of Science, or Devo says:

I did laugh immediately at the post. Thumbs Up for the wit and assumed sophistication of your audience. I do kinda half assume you lifted it from the Onion? No disrespect intended.

T.Rump really wants everything his own distorted way. I don’t see how this can end well. A neurotic in the White House. Makes for great TV and Marketing Overfed Egos. …………. but not the Whitehouse.

Grab your socks…….. its going to get rough.

    • Do the Hokey Pokey says:

“Grab your socks…….. its going to get rough.”

Is that fido standing behind you?

      • bobbo, are we Men of Science, or Devo says:

        I dunno…. always fly tandem.

      • jpfitz says:

Oh Baby, Dtrumps congressional speech Is gonna be a wild ride if he goes off topic and straight into La La Land.

Drop the remote or mouse and grab an arm of your chair. Either it’ll be interesting or something like his rallying cries to the 44% who have been reading brietbart and listening to Info Wars. Funny name, Info Wars.

    • Hmeyers says:

“I don’t see how this can end well. ”

Come on Bobbo. You have to have a prediction you’ve got right before you get to make more.

And you are out of credits.

You basically conceded the self-driving cars thing that I was saying was bogus last year.

Which is a good start to admitting that you believe whatever a guy in the media or on the television tells you.

Clear your conscience by admitting you that you are unduly influenced by what you see on TV.

      • jpfitz says:

Worrying about how well this or that will end is futile.

“How we choose to live our life is for the most part, entirely up to us. No, we can’t choose our parents, and we don’t often get to control certain environments”

        http://lifehacker.com/this-flow-chart-tells-you-when-to-worry-about-anything-1638610395

        • Hmeyers says:

Gautama Siddhartha (Buddha, like the founder of Buddhism) — once said “want is the source of all suffering”.

          He missed the boat.

Want is the source of all meaning in life.

So, you can say worrying is futile or in the end it doesn’t matter (true) …

But what gives life meaning is passionately believing the opposite.

Besides — you say nothing matters and an atheist has to believe that (Bobbo, Perkel, Phydeau) — but I’m an agnostic so my reply is simply this …

“How can you be so certain ‘nothing matters’? There could be greater purpose we would never understand.”

          • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

If we don’t understand it: it doesn’t matter.

            A tight tautology.

      • bobbo, are we Men of Science, or Devo says:

HM: wut? Trying to declare yourself the “winner” in an argument by putting words in my mouth that are the OPPOSITE of what I posted? Poor Form.

I don’t care to even look: I think driverless cars are coming Because its been with us for a long time with Airplanes…so why not Trucks, then cars?? I mean: WHY NOT? And if traffic lights are the bugga boos you say they are (doubtful in my uniformed common sense what with the accuracy of light sensors), then I see no reason not to back them up with additional signals detectable only by smart cars. Pretty basic stuff……like the Instrument Systems used in airplanes.

If I believe any idiot on tv…… why aren’t I believing ….. YOU?

YOU ponder that……….. while I go crack a beer.

“unduly influenced” /// what does that even mean? I’d say “informed” as to what issues are of the moment….but I google for confirming criticism, review, analysis.

What specific argument can you not win?

  8. jpfitz says:

bobbo my “kind” verbiage is the outcome of anger management.

Lately I’ve gone through changes in my household and with my extended “family”. I have one particular entity that’s toxic and I’m working on Me.

The changes translate to this blog with what you see as kindness, but, I feel I’m trying to be a good human being.

    • bobbo, are we Men of Science, or Devo says:

Well jp: the presentation is working. How does it feel inside? Hoomans have a very strong feed back mechanism. You will feel x2 better if you laugh at bad situations than if you gnash your teeth: here’s the kicker: even if you don’t do anything else.

Its whats behind “laughter is the best medicine.” course…if you think through the situation looking for better outcomes…then over time your situation should improve.

always instructive to note that big things are made up of a whole bunch of small things. aka: don’t sweat the small stuff.

      • jpfitz says:

        Comedy=Medicine
Just as you said. Don’t sweat the little things. Even the Big stuff isn’t worth worry until the stuff is changeable or unbearable.

To answer your question, I feel good. Worry and ruminations are useless.

What an embarrassment for the country. 🙄

  12. Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Great, the big orange cheeto hires an expert and promptly ignores his advice:

    http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/mcmaster-trump-terrorism-speech-235476

President Donald Trump’s new national security adviser, Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, advised him in a closed-door meeting last week to stop using a phrase that was a frequent refrain during the campaign: “radical Islamic terrorism.”

McMaster is a well-regarded person in military/diplomatic circles, and knows what he’s talking about.

Fighting in Iraq in 2005 and 2006, McMaster pioneered a counterinsurgency strategy that required him and his troops to live amongst Iraqis, gaining their trust and cooperation. “There’s no question that H.R. was very successful as a counterinsurgent in Tal Afar in 2005 and 2006,” said Max Boot, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and the author of Invisible Armies, a history of guerilla warfare. “Unlike Steve Bannon, H.R. has actually fought insurgents and knows what it takes to fight and prevail. You have to actually work with Muslims and get them to trust you and fight alongside you.”

But hey, didn’t Donny say during the campaign that he was smarter than all the generals? 🙄 🙄 🙄

  13. MikeN says:

    >I did notice not one Grammer or spelling error.

I just understood this. You’re not saying there were no errors. Just that it was so funny you didn’t notice any errors.

  14. bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

Nice show by Rachel Maddow last night.

All about the $$$ connection between T.Rump and Putin/Russia/Oligarchs. $$$ bonds people… more than religion or politics.

True Fact: Russian billionaire buys T.Rump residential property for 100MM that T.Rump had very recently paid only 40MM for. A year later, T.Rump puts American Business man he had never met or dealt with (Wilbur Ross) as head of Commerce. Only connection?……………….. Putin. Ross is majority share holder and Board Member of the “Bank of Cyprus” the well known money laundering operation for Putin and his gang of Kleptocrats.

    Yeah…………go Team T.Rump.

    “I see jail terms everywhere.”

//////////////////// “We need a businessman to bring business principals to government.” ===> Trump business: borrow other peoples money to invest in sketchy if not fraudulent deals, don’t pay the money back, get sued…go bankrupt. Rinse and Repeat.

    Just look.

    “I see jail terms everywhere.”

    • Mr Diesel - Language says:

Most people use other people’s money. They are called loans.

Madcow couldn’t have a good show unless she let Hannity or Limbaugh host it for her.

    • Hmeyers says:

      Trump is revealing his softness.

I’ve said Trump’s weakness is he wants the media to like him and if the media is rough, they have no power over him. But if they ever decide to be nice to him, he’ll do whatever is necessary for the media to like him.

Apparently, the speech he did last night was extremely well received and even CNN liked it.

Today, Trump has postponed travel ban #2 and if you check his Twitter, basically no activity.

He’s probably going to be Obama-lite.

And not keep very many of his campaign promises.

      • NewFormatSux says:

        >And not keep very many of his campaign promises.

That’s what Phydeau’s been saying! I guess he’ll be happy then.

    • NewFormatSux says:

      >A year later, T.Rump puts American Business man he had never met or dealt with (Wilbur Ross)

Not even close to being true. Looks like you were reading partisan fake news.

  15. Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Eeeuuww, check out this latest from the big orange cheeto. There have been two Jewish cemeteries vandalized recently, and a wave of bomb threats:

    https://twitter.com/BraddJaffy/status/836313817084751873/photo/1

Trump suggests that they are “false flag” events, i.e. committed by Jews.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/02/28/trump-is-reportedly-hinting-that-anti-semitic-incidents-are-false-flags-it-wouldnt-be-the-first-time/

President Trump seemed to suggest Tuesday that the recent bomb threats and vandalism at Jewish community centers and cemeteries across the country might be false flags, according to a Democratic attorney general who met with him. And Trump’s comments came the same day that one of his top advisers suggested the culprits could be Democrats.

Coincidentally (or not) this is the same position that neo-nazi anti-Semitic websites are taking. As one commentator pointed out, either Donny is getting his information from neo-nazi anti-Semitic websites, or he’s coming up with the same ideas they have. Neither one is good.

In other news, women raped themselves, and black men shot themselves in the back while running away from white police officers. 🙄 🙄 🙄

    • Hmeyers says:

Jewish cemetaries are vandalized in Philadelphia — The same Philadelphia where Mitt Romney got 0 votes in a number of precincts?

and your conclusion is that white people who support Trump did it?

They have a lot of Jewish cemetary vandalism in France too.

Meanwhile a Catholic Cemetary in Philadelphia was vandalized within a week of the Jewish one according to CNN …

      http://cnn.com/2017/02/26/us/jewish-cemetery-vandalism-philadelphia/

      Phydeau bad fact checking -1

Also: Cemeteries are a waste. Everyone should be cremated. They should tax headstones and caskets — it’s bad for the environment and eventually the whole world would be a cemetary. Cemeteries are a waste.

      • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

        Really? That’s all you got?

        • Hmeyers says:

          No — I have more.

          Apparently you only read headlines.

“Law enforcement officials believe many of the threatening calls to Jewish community centers have originated overseas. “ — CNN

          http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/28/us/bomb-threats-jewish-centers-
          jcc/index.html?adkey=bn

This kind of willing blindness is why I don’t trust the supporters of political parties.

          • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

OK, so? What if many of them originated overseas? So we have irate foreigners calling in bomb threats in America, along with irate Americans calling in bomb threats in America. All because of what Trump is doing. Your point?

          • Hmeyers says:

Foreigners calling in bomb threats against Jews?

I think the word you were searching for is “Muslims”.

          • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Maybe, and your point being? And can you explain why this is only happening now that Trump has gotten elected?

What could possibly cause a sudden rash of anti-Semitic activity? Hm?

          • Hmeyers says:

            There is no relationship.

Any more than there is a relationship between attacks on Jews in Europe.

I do think it is weird there hasn’t been a Muslim terror attack of any real size lately.

Is it because the US and Europe have expressed being pissed off with the status quo by strange election results like BrExit and Trump and far-right candidates in Europe looking like they might win elections (Marine Le Pen, Geert Wilders)?

I think Trump’s travel ban was a nice warning shot culturally about the West’s tolerance for terror attacks.

Doesn’t matter if the ban happened/happens or not, but it was saying loud and clear that if there are problems things will change.

          • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

The experts (including Trump’s own employee H.R.McMasters), advise against overblown rhetoric like “radical Islamic terrorism” because it plays right into the hands of ISIS. BS like that and arbitrary travel bans just strengthen their argument that the US hates ALL Muslims. Maybe you do, and maybe Trump does, but the majority of us don’t, so beat it.

Why do you hate America so much that you want to team up with ISIS?

          • What About Bobbo? says:

So you accuse people who hate muslims and want to team up with ISIS?

Is there any logical thinking going on in that pea-sized brain?

And by the way, what IS the attraction to the misogynist, gay hating, regressive ass-backward muslim “culture” that lefty idiots love sooooo much.

            Its perplexing.

          • ± says:

            [to Hmeyers]

There is a relationship. There is bullshit legislation being considered that the Jews are trying to get through Congress. We already have multiple layers upon layers of laws against this stuff; yet they want the made up liberal lie name of “hate crime” ascribed to this with extra special penalties. On top of that, the next time you got fucked by a Jew in business and you were casually remarking to a friend “I got fucked by a Jew again… etc.” and someone happened to overhear this, you could go to prison.

    • NewFormatSux says:

This happened with Obama as President too.

I think you posted some about churches getting burned and the like, trying to blame Trump. Those have been investigated, and it wasn’t Trump supporters responsible. A false flag operation should be the default theory, especially if it is on a college campus. Anti-Jew actions are an exception, given how much we have seen it happen.

    • NewFormatSux says:

Guy was busted. It was an alt-right Trump supporter who donated to his campaign and was on stage at his rallies. This is going to hurt him bigtime. Media is all over it.

My bad, it was an anti-Trump Communist. Crickets from the media.

  16. Hmeyers says:

2 People that say they might run for president that would be fun to see and why.

    1) Mark Zuckerburg – This guy lives in some sort of reality bubble. Would be fun to watch him get grilled during a Democratic debate. Would be fun to see negative ads.

Exposing that man-child to reality would be awesome. He does things like sues indigenous Hawaiians.

    2) Oprah. She wouldn’t run. She has a whole cemetery of skeletons in her closet from mistreating her employees. It’d come out during her campaign.

Oprah stepped on a lot of her employees on her way building her empire. That’s probably normal. But she’d have to pay them off or it would be prime time for them to air their grievances.

    • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

You’re right about Zuckerberg… we’ve seen what happens when a man-child is exposed to reality and it’s not pretty. 🙄

      • What About Bobbo? says:

        Barry Sotero?

        • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

          Birth Certificate! Benghazi Benghazi Benghazi!

          There ya go. 😉

    • NewFormatSux says:

You left out Chelsea. I didn’t realize Nita Lowey is still in Congress after stepping aside for Hillary in 2000. Now she will have to give up her seat for Chelsea, who will immediately be touted as the frontrunner, with special appearances on Hillary’s talk show.

  17. Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Remember, before the EPA, when the Cuyahoga river in Ohio burst into flames from pollution? They’re having the same problem in Bangalore in India where there is also no EPA.

    https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2017/mar/01/burning-lakes-experts-fear-bangalore-uninhabitable-2025

A lethal mix of factors create an environment that merely requires the slightest of triggers for lakes to go up in flames. Untreated effluents pour into the waters from the many industries and homes on its banks, illegal waste disposal takes place on a large scale – often including rubbish which is set on fire – and invasive weeds cover large swathes of the lake in a thick green canopy.

And now that we have someone running the EPA who wants to destroy it, we can look forward to many flaming bodies of water in our future. 🙄

    • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

The latest incident is not the first time the lake has caught fire; it happened in May 2015. A few days later, it was in the news again for being covered in snow-like froth, which began to swirl up in the summer wind, engulfing passers-by. The froth was the result of chemical waste dumped in the lake, and was toxic enough to crack windshields, wear the paint off car hoods and exacerbate the severe respiratory issues that have plagued citizens in recent years.

      • Hmeyers says:

You might not know this, but 90% of EPA type of activities are performed by state agencies.

      • What About Bobbo? says:

May 2015? Is Trump time traveling to ruin the country retroactively or is this an example of cognitive dissonance?

        • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Uh, dude, it was a quote from the article about a lake in India that caught fire from pollution recently and in 2015.

          • What About Bobbo? says:

So you drop a quote without a link.

            loser

          • Phydeau says:

lol bobbo, that second quote was from the same link as the first. 😛 Sorry if I didn’t make that clear.

    • NewFormatSux says:

Bangalore is rich enough to deal with it. Particularly because they don’t have an EPA to hold back progress and drive up energy costs. They elected a leader who is putting development ahead of global warming agendas.

      • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Wow. Just wow. The monumental stupidity of NFS shows itself.

Dude. The reason why their lake is so polluted that it burst into flames is because they don’t have a friggin’ EPA to stop big corporations from dumping toxic waste there.

“Rich enough to deal with it”??? WTF??? The rich people have no interest in cleaning up that lake. And it won’t get cleaned up unless they (and others) pay their taxes and laws are passed to FORCE corporations to stop dumping toxic waste there.

In fact, if there had been an EPA there, they wouldn’t have this problem in the first place, moron.

Wow, serious disconnect from reality there, NFS. This explains a lot.

Sorry for all the bold font, folks. Some stupidity just calls for it, though. 🙄

        • NewFormatSux says:

Let me spell it out for you. It has nothing to do with whether rich people will clean up the lake. The place is so poor, they don’t care about burning lakes. They throw trash in the street. If you drank the water the gap from your next post will be longer than the gap between editor posts that bobbo whines.

Having an EPA wouldn’t really prevent it because they are so poor no one would follow the rules, but even if it did, it would still be poor. Now they are becoming wealthy, that is not as poor as before, so now they will clean it up. Already you see what used to be desert bare roads have trees in the middle. Garbage is done a little better, more water sanitation, etc.
Same as how in America, child labor laws passed as soon as people got rich enough to where many of them stopped sending kids to work.

And what exactly was the content of the tweet (speaking of jumping to conclusions…)

And really, that’s all you got? Some obscure volunteer in some obscure organization said something obnoxious, and so all the obnoxious and sexist and racist things Trump says are OK?

Someone’s got a crush on the big orange cheeto… 😉

      • Hmeyers says:

        It’s not about Trump.

It’s about the Democratic Party getting some sanity and deciding they would like to win elections again.

        Instead of being batshit crazy.

There is a dime of difference between the Republicans and the Democrats — both are bought for by large corporations.

Democrats didn’t use to be like that. They are the Republican Party except focused on trivial issues like what bathroom to use and safe spaces.

Name a campaign promise Hillary made? I can’t think of one of any significance.

        You are obsessed with Trump.

        • Phydeau says:

Some would call that “interested in participating in the democratic process.” But if you’re criticizing the president, you’re “obsessed” eh? 🙄

Clinton made plenty of campaign promises. None of them batshit crazy. Trump is the one who spoke in generalities, and babbled about bringing back jobs that everyone knows are gone.

You try to pretend that you’re “impartial” in some bizarre way, but when it comes right down to it, you favor Trump. Just can’t bring yourself to admit it. Oh well. Carry on with the charade. 🙄

          • Hmeyers says:

            I’m issue oriented.

I want NAFTA reformed/fixed, Bobbo and I discussed that for a long, long time before Bernie Sanders brought the issue up and Trump copied him.

Trump also copied Sanders on the TPP trade agreement, which I’ve long been against before Trump was even a candidate.

            H1B visa abuse.

Corporations shipping jobs out of the country — like they do with Mexico.

Republicans don’t give a shit about any of the above.

Democrats did — before they abandoned their own constituents.

          • Hmeyers says:

Phydeau — you don’t seem to be issue oriented.

You sell your soul for a (D) next to a name.

You probably think NAFTA is fine because Trump is against it.

Since 1995, Mexico exports to the US have grown 6 times. US exports to Mexico have only doubled.

And about half what the US imports from Mexico are things that got shipped down to Mexico (auto production, heavy machinery).

        • NewFormatSux says:

          >Name a campaign promise Hillary made? I can’t think of one of any significance.

“Years from now, when your kids and grandkids ask what you did in 2016, when it was all on the line, you want to tell them that you voted for a big hearted open minded person.” Her last campaign speech.

      • Hmeyers says:

        Add:

        Look at this Democratic craziness

        http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/321685-left-threatens-trump-friendly-senators-with-primary-challenges

The Tea Party did that kind of thing. I think it worked out 2 times (Eric Cantor, notably) — but went poorly the other 5-6 times.

        • Phydeau says:

So it’s “crazy” to primary someone you don’t think represents the party’s values?

          Riiiiiight. 🙄

          • Hmeyers says:

It’s crazy to try to primary Red State Democrats in a year (2018) that the Democrats already have enough problems.

There are 9 Democrat Senate seats up in states that Trump won.

The effect of a primary would be to pull the candidates to the left when they need to stay more in the center.

          • NewFormatSux says:

But maybe they’d rather have the party move to the left rather than be Republican lite. They feel that is the path to victory, and are willing to lose a seat or two in the process.

Republicans could have taken Joe Biden’s Senate seat, but instead they primaried Mike Castle and went with the Tea Party witch. This lost them one seat, but it forced the rest of the Senate to take the Tea Party seriously. Unfortunately, instead of listening, they circled the wagons and spent big money protecting the incumbents.
I was telling people that if Matt Bevin beats McConnell in Kentucky, Dems would take the seat, but no one would listen. It may be that it is worth losing that seat just to be rid of McConnell.

Eric Cantor’s loss is another example. If that doesn’t happen, then Paul Ryan and Raul Gutierrez get their amnesty passed. They were meeting and having celebratory drinks because Ryan got a majority of the Republicans to support his plan. All that was left was to meet with Boehner and schedule the vote. Then the Cantor loss destroyed the whip count.

    • What About Bobbo? says:

Speaking for myself, as a veteran, I don’t like it when we are used like this. I didn’t like it when Obama did it, and I don’t like it when Trump does it.

        I agree.

        • Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Speaking of being used… remember that horrible nasty mean “Clinton volunteer” you slammed further up in the thread? Here’s what he said:

That doesn’t seem like a reason to lose your job. I think I’d rather not invest with ‘Liberty’.

  19. bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

Phydeau vs HMyers: win goes to Phydeau. Threatening and actually primarying your “labeled” party members that go too far off platform (do THOSE exist anymore?….used to be a big deal) is very strong control over party discipline even when it nominally doesn’t work. It can be express and we all hear about it, but more commonly….its who gets support and who doesn’t. Think Bernie Sanders. In any fair and open party…he would have been selected. Same with any other upstart……on either side. Its: POLITICS….and why USA is on a steep slide.

Its Ironic…..that T.Rump has what it takes to go against this whole charade….he will be subverted not by Politics, but by his needy personality and desire to please. No repeal of ObamaCare, no Wall……….lets hope he doesn’t change on Social Security etc.

The concept you are looking for is what Ralph Nader first pointed out: both parties primarily represent big money corporate interests. AFTER THAT…..variation occurs at the margin.

The COUNTRY IS DEMOCRATIC…..which is why the Dumbos win the popular vote. but the SYSTEM IS RIGGED…which is a business practice…which is why the Pukes are in ascendancy.

Just look. Just……….. freaking…….look. Your politics should not blind you.

    • Hmeyers says:

Thanks for taking an interest in the conversation.

You can tell Phydeau how many times I’ve griped to you about NAFTA.

      • bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

NAFTA: just one of many issues we agree on. Thats why it “makes me sad” when you argue that Hillary had no ideas/programs or whatever you said. Hillary’s competency was built on her policies, being a policy wonk, having the facts and details and the specific proposals. Had a detailed website and everything.

The fact that within those proposal were enough weasel words and lies to make them virtually meaningless is a different issue. SHE HAD IDEAS.

T.Rump and the Pukes: no idea that isn’t just a rejection of Obaman, or as you demonstrate, any handy Dumbo. Thats why at most O-Care would get repealed and the lie of replacement with whatever is left in the ashes.

Fair Trade………. one of the biggest lies still believed by all too many….even lots of eggheads. FT is the favored of the top .01%: INTERNATIONAL ALREADY TOO RICH. They take profit at every stage of the process but screw everyone at each stage too. Thats how they become billionaires while the full time workers go on welfare.

And so many will say: “work ethic.”

WHAT A LOAD OF BS IS EATEN AS ICE CREAM.

Pukes are just slightly dumber than the dumbos. Its why they are so easily led and ……….. deplorable.

        • NewFormatSux says:

Hillary’s website for about a month was plastered with ‘LOVE TRUMP’. Go to wayback and see for yourself. I was shocked.

  21. Phydeau, not actually packed with Wall Street veterans says:

Well looky here. Jeff “Demon Keebler Elf” Sessions talked to the Russians during the election even when he swore under oath that he didn’t.

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/mar/02/jeff-sessions-russian-ambassador-trump-campaign

The Washington Post, citing justice department officials, first reported that Sessions met with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak once in September 2016, when US intelligence officials were investigating Russian interference in the presidential election, and once in the summer of that year.

Of course the Trump administration said it was all legal:

Sessions met with the ambassador in an official capacity as a member of the Senate armed services committee, which is entirely consistent with his testimony.

Well, that’s settled then. Wait… no one else on the Senate Armed Services committee spoke to Kislyak last year?

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/sessions-spoke-twice-with-russian-ambassador-during-trumps-presidential-campaign-justice-officials-say/2017/03/01/77205eda-feac-11e6-99b4-9e613afeb09f_story.html

The Washington Post contacted all 26 members of the 2016 Senate Armed Services Committee to see whether any lawmakers besides Sessions met with Kislyak in 2016. Of the 20 lawmakers who responded, every senator, including Chairman John McCain (R-Ariz.), said they did not meet with the Russian ambassador last year. The other lawmakers on the panel did not respond as of Wednesday evening.

Members of the committee have not been beating a path to Kislyak’s door,” a senior Senate Armed Services Committee staffer said, citing tensions in relations with Moscow. Besides Sessions, the staffer added, “There haven’t been a ton of members who are looking to meet with Kislyak for their committee duties.”

Well, this is easily settled. Sessions and Kislyak just have a joint press conference and describe the official Senate Armed Services Committee business they were discussing. Problem solved.

    We’re waiting…

Claire McCaskill, the Missouri Democrat who called for Sessions to resign this morning, is a senior member of that committee and a former prosecutor. “A good prosecutor would have known these facts were relevant to the questions asked,” she said in a statement. “It’s clear Attorney General Sessions misled the Senate—the question is, why? I’ve been on the Senate Armed Services Committee for 10 years, and in that time, have had no call from, or meeting with, the Russian ambassador. Ever. That’s because ambassadors call members of Foreign Relations Committee.

Yes… what business does a Russian national have with the Armed Services committee???

Not enough fingers and toes to count how many T.Rump associates have deep ties with Putin.

Until such release is required of all top running candidates, this type of corruption will become more common………… because …… only the rich can run as independents…….. and they get rich by being crooks ………… which a good tax audit will reveal.

Until T.Rump releases his tax returns…… any good American must assume he is simply a crook. Lying his way into another long con.

T.RUMP MUST RELEASE HIS TAX RETURNS.

Looks like he will be investigated fairly soon with said return being vomitted up. I WILL NOT BE SURPRISED, by what is there. Fairly obvious already: money.
