As Trump says in his tweet, it is fake news. And he’s the one behind it. Trump leaked his own tax return. And who knows if what he leaked was fabricated or at least cherry picked. It’s also incomplete not showing deductions. Since Trump planted the story – nothing about it is to be believed. It’s just another Trump deception. Unbelievable! Sad.

  1. McCullough says:

Proof? Not that I’m not buying it. It sounds like something he would do…..i.e. punk a fake news org like MSNBC. But the question remains, why did Maddow fall for it, is the woman an idiot? Once she saw what she was “revealing” she should have run in the other direction. I’ve never watched her show as I don’t watch any of the news channels on Television, but she seems a little smug.

    • Marc Perkel says:

Trump called it fake news after he released it himself. Do you doubt Trump?

    • Phydeau says:

Looks like Maddow’s doing a good job, judging from all the outraged squealing coming from the wingnuts. 😉

It hurts, doesn’t it, poor babies! 🙄

      • NewFormatSux says:

All we’ve seen is liberals complaining about Maddow, asking liberals not to focus too much on tax returns. Washington Post ran a story attacking Maddow. Washington Post! Liberalism dies in darkness!

      • Thom says:

Go back and look at her Twitter feed for that period, her “followers” are crucifying her numbnuts.

        • What About Bobbo? says:

Maddow: “We’ve got Trump tax returns.”

A return is ALL forms and schedules. Returns (plural) implies more than one year.

What a schmuck…., how can people watch this channel, (except for that racist mush-mouth Rev Al Sharpton, who is highly entertaining) it’s more fake than CNN, if thats even possible.

      • NewFormatSux says:

What will Playdoh do when he realizes he’s been lied to?
From Glenn Greenwald about Russia and Trump:
Key Democratic officials are clearly worried about the expectations that have been purposely stoked and are now trying to tamp them down. Many of them have tried to signal that the beliefs the base has been led to adopt have no basis in reason or evidence.

  2. McCullough says:

BTW, this was interesting news about the phonies at the New York Times. Seems the pot is calling the kettle again. As Forbes noted at the time:

… for tax year 2014, The New York Times paid no taxes and got an income tax refund of $3.5 million even though they had a pre-tax profit of $29.9 million in 2014.

    https://forbes.com/sites/jeffreydorfman/2016/01/31/new-york-times-hypocrisy-on-corporate-taxes-reaches-record-high/#7cd6317f499b

  3. Ah_Yea says:

    HA HA HA!!

What a laugh! (wiping away tear :))

Let’s assume Trump did release his tax return.
He perfectly TROLLED the entire Left-Wingnut Media!

Rachael was so orgasmic over getting his tax return he (she?) didn’t even read it before announcing it!

One it was announced, Rachael HAD to produce it or confirm media bias!!

    Unbelievable! Sad.

  4. bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

I’m not getting it. with an absence of any evidence at all, you all think Trump released his own tax filings?………..because you think he is that warped and twisted???? A special kind of boot strapping that should not be crowed about.

Did the tax return as Trump Say make him look good? I didn’t think so…. shocked he’s paid 25% in any year….look at the other examples given…all paid lower. And Trump is in a tax dodging industry (real estate) that should put him close to zero or less.

I don’t know why so many people have to think they “know” what is going on WHEN THERE IS NO EVIDENCE AT ALL. I’ll leave that overstatement as written… we do have the two pages, and we do have Trump saying its his….so I do assume it accurate. No Evidence for how it was released.

Trump has surprised me a bit. I thought he was more of a business man than a Tv Personality. So needy for attention. “A sick guy.” Ha, ha…. but who else runs for President?????

…………………not as sick as the Republican Party as a whole though. Big Tent = psychotic split personalities. All they have ever agreed on is saying NO to the Dumbocrats. Turns out, not such a bad thing. Imagine the horror of an effective republican party?………… makes me shiver.

Trumps damage will be bad enough…….imagine if he could get anything done?

    • NewFormatSux says:

Trump’s response is that he actually earned $250 million, making it just a 15.2% tax rate. Not sure if the 100 million in losses were from that year or a previous year’s carry forward, like that billion dollars people were taking about.

      • Phydeau says:

Trump leaked how many pages of his 2005 return? Two? Let’s see the other 500. 🙄

      • bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

NFS: true enough. I don’t know tax law well enough to make informed guesses on what any deeper truth might be from what little is presented.

What it mostly rebukes is the notion that Trump has been paying zero taxes for 20 years based on his tax losses from his Atlantic Casino operation.

But….. its not even “Trump” as much as whoever he has used over the years to pay “as little tax as possible” and that goal is hard to reach without arguably committing fraud of some sort……..but contra: I just assume gross incomes at some level get extra scrutiny at the IRS? Or……..is that totally corrupted as well???

I agree with Phydeau: wheres the rest?………..and I mean other years as well.

ALL TOP GUBMENT OFFICIALS SHOULD HAVE THEIR LAST 10 YEARS OF IRS FILINGS BE OF PUBLIC RECORD. Pres…VP…All the Cabinet..All congressional committee heads.

        Let the Sunshine in.

        • NewFormatSux says:

No, you have it backwards. Tax lawyers keep working after the government lawyers go home. So for the government, while there is more money to be made going after rich people, it is also so much harder. Instead they go after lower income people. Less money per case, but easier wins.

          • bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

What I’ve read many times is that each dollar spent on IRS FRAUD enforcement returns from 8 to 10 dollars.

So……….. of course……… the Enforcement Department gets cut all the time. “They” aren’t doing this to protect you and me….. but it could be a pure philosophical move.

          • NewFormatSux says:

It’s easy when the people you are targeting can’t afford a lawyer, or the lawyer costs about the same as you are asking for. Target the rich, and you don’t get the $8-10 per dollar spent.

  5. Phydeau says:

Uh, maybe next time they should white-out “CLIENT COPY” when they leak a couple pages of their own tax returns.

    🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄

  6. Phydeau says:

Hey McCullough, (personal attack on an editor)… you want to see fake news? Here’s fake news:

    http://undergroundnewsreport.com/the-truth/breaking-satire-makes-fools-gullible-trump-supporters/

WIKILEAKS: OBAMA RAN PEDOPHILE RING OUT OF WHITEHOUSE

BREAKING: FEDS RAID OBAMA BUNKER IN SEARCH OF EVIDENCE

BOMBSHELL: WIKILEAKS LEAKS ‘LOST’ CLINTON EMAIL

OBAMA TWEET: TRUMP MUST BE REMOVED, BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY

BREAKING: BIDEN TURNS ON HILLARY “I’LL TESTIFY IF NECESSARY”

FORMER WHITE HOUSE AIDE: OBAMA “IS A GAY MAN”

All articles from this website, which clearly states that it’s satire, but gullible wingnuts like you ate it up:

While writing them, I was aiming for stories that no one would believe, but rather would be satirical in an age where disinformation is so prevalent. Just for fun, I decided to post some of the stories in Trump fan groups on Facebook to see the reactions.

To my surprise, the Trump masses embraced my stories as fact, almost universally. It seemed that there wasn’t anything I could write that was too wild or outrageous to be believed by this particular audience.

If I wrote about CNN being fake news and connected to ISIS, readers would agree wholeheartedly with my fabricated article. If I wrote about a black liberal or Obama supposedly saying something controversial, the response was unbridled racism and hatred. When I wrote about Hillary Clinton’s new emails that proved she was a child sacrificing maniac, people screamed for her head.

I was startled that in today’s world, so many could be so willfully ignorant. It’s truly a frightening time when a group of people screaming, “FAKE NEWS!” at the top of their lungs, live, eat and sleep falsehoods.

It’s amazing that grown people can be so gullible and hateful. But hey, the folks supporting Trump (besides the rich people he benefits) are the blue-collar types. Note that they’re blue collar types because they don’t have the intelligence to go to college and get a higher paying job. The 100-IQ and lower types are Trump’s biggest supporters. Yes, you are literally idjits, but you don’t know it because you’re too dumb to see. 🙄

[Repetitive carping from politcos with an agenda – editor]

  7. Phydeau says:

    LOL

This just in… a guy who wrote a book about dictators and their mansions says that Donald Trump fits right in to the “Dictator Chic” style of decorating:

    http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/03/trump-style-dictator-autocrats-design-214877

Trump’s design aesthetic is fascinatingly out of line with America’s past and present… But that doesn’t mean his taste comes from nowhere. At one level, it’s aspirational, meant to project the wealth so many citizens can only dream of. But it also has important parallels—not with Italian Renaissance or French baroque, where its flourishes come from, but with something more recent. The best aesthetic descriptor of Trump’s look, I’d argue, is dictator style.

A decade ago, I published a book on exactly that topic: Fascinated by the question of what makes dictators’ houses so recognizably similar, I spent months poring over pictures—from across the continents, from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 21st—and trying to pick out the features they had in common and what those features said about their occupants. I ended up with 16 case studies—strongmen from Mexico’s Porfirio Díaz to Serbia’s Slobodan Milosevic—and most of them, I concluded, obeyed 10 defining “dictator chic” rules.

    And my personal favorite quote…

Then, there are the materials—rules 5, 6 and 7. “If I’ve only got one life,” most dictators seem to think, “let me live it surrounded by gold.” When you have all of your country’s resources at your disposal, why not? Gold furniture, gold wall decorations, columns with gold capitals, gold taps. Bright gold, fake gold, shiny alloys for functional metalwork. Viktor Yanukovych, the recently deposed pro-Russian leader of Ukraine, lived in a positive blizzard of gold, which was revealed to a waiting world when he was ousted in the country’s 2014 revolution.

Wingnuts luuuuuv their wannabe dictator. 😉

  8. Phydeau says:

Here’s another tidbit you won’t hear about on Fox/Breitbart/InfoWars… the chaos inside the Trump administration, from those commie libruls at Politico…

    http://www.politico.com/story/2017/03/trump-white-house-paranoia-236069

One senior administration aide, who like most others interviewed for this story spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the degree of suspicion had created a toxicity that is unsustainable. “People are scared,” he said, adding that the Trump White House had become “a pretty hostile environment to work in.”

And here’s a particularly stupid statement by Spicer:

In recent days, the administration has given credence to the idea that Obama loyalists are working against them. When Spicer was asked during a briefing last week about the idea that a deep state is working to undermine the president, he did not reject the premise.

“I don’t think it should come as any surprise that there are people that burrowed into government during eight years of the last administration, and may have believed in that agenda and that to continue to seek it,” he said.

OMG OMG DEEP STATE DEEP STATE BENGHAZI!

Because we know that when Obama took office in 2009, all the thousands of leftover Dubya appointees and employees were immediately dismissed, and Obama started out with one hundred percent of the executive branch employees loyal to him!!! Yeah!!!

    🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄

    • McCullough says:

Talk about being tweaked….you and Rachel need to stop hyperventilating.

      • NewFormatSux says:

        Is Maddow like this too?

      • Phydeau says:

LOL look in the mirror wingnuts. It’s the Trumpbots whining about the “deep state” BS. 🙄

        • McCullough says:

Do you seriously think this was a “scoop” Phydeau. If so, why?

          • bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

Yes……….it IS a scoop. Its two pages of Trumps tax returns that Trump did not want published. It is: news.

Not a huge scoop. Mostly, it just supports the notion that more information on Trumps business activities around the world is entirely justified.

I agree Maddow and Phydeau are hyperventilating. THAT doesn’t mean they should stop breathing.

          • NewFormatSux says:

Yes it was a scoop. It gave Maddow her biggest ratings ever. Think she even beat Fox News for the night.

  9. NewFormatSux says:

Trump has proposed budget cuts for each of the following agencies, in the amount of 100%.

    African Development Foundation

    Appalachian Regional Commission

    Chemical Safety Board

Corporation for National and Community Service

    Corporation for Public Broadcasting

    Delta Regional Authority

    Denali Commission

Institute of Museum and Library Services

    Inter-American Foundation

    U.S. Trade and Development Agency

    Legal Services Corporation

    National Endowment for the Arts

    National Endowment for the Humanities

    Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation

    Northern Border Regional Commission

    Overseas Private Investment Corporation

    U.S. Institute of Peace

    U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness

Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars

    • bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

I take it then that “Meals on Wheels” feeding and checking on the old and infirmed was only reduced rather than terminated?

The spokesperson for that move really showed the attitude: “its a program that doens’t work” and looking at feeding the poor is only half the equation. We are looking at the other half of the equation of the people who have to pay for the service as well.

STARK RAVING MAD MEN: Let the poor starve, so the billionaires can have more. Revolutions are born from denying the poor any bread at all.

((Of note: Meals on Wheels serves my part of town. Food is barely edible…like airline food from a budget airline 20 years ago…….but….its edible if your taste buds are shot. Of more import, is the daily (seems to me its more like once a week?…they deliver a weeks worth of food at a time?…. probably varies by some standard??) check on the health status of the recipients. A reality check, a health check, a good community service.

I thought Trump had more of a democratic “humanistic” streak in his soul. How long will he go along with this genocide if his crowds start booing him? Will he replace his outcast base with per diem actors????

      Inquiring minds want to know.

      • NewFormatSux says:

I was surprised to find out Meals on Wheels got any government money. Looked like a standard charity to me. The food is not good because of how they have volunteers packing in bulk. Either way, it’s something the states can manage, if not private groups entirely.

      • NewFormatSux says:

Turns out Meals on Wheels isn’t being cut in any meaningful way. It’s government funding mostly comes from another source. What’s happening is Meals On Wheels is given a little bit of money in the block grant program as a human shield for the rest of the money. Now, every media story will say ‘cuts to CDBG program which funds Meals on Wheels’.

        • bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

NFS: you have a track record of being accurate in your facts. Not forthcoming with your sources and links unless pushed, but you’ve always had the goods.

          So, I believe you.

BUT: its a judgment call as to what any cut in funding is supposed to “mean.” The spokesman said it was a program that didn’t work. What did he mean by THAT? What will other charitable funding source think of such a statement and action?

Why take action against MEALS ON WHEELS when there are so many other programs to go after: like the entire military increase? Military: should be cut with emphasis going into low level conflicts…not WW3.

Our whole approach is SNAFU….. in Orange.

          • NewFormatSux says:

The cut wasn’t to Meals on Wheels, but to the the community development program. Many of these programs do not fund it. Some do. It is like how when they threaten to cut Amtrak, Amtrak says this will lead to loss of the Acela and the most popular routes. Cuts to PBS they say means the end of Big Bird.

  10. Martin says:

Hold on a minute! How could this news be anything but a factual and unbiased; it was reported by Rachel Maddow on MSNBC? Pause for a minute and I’m sure you’ll remember those are the most credible news sources anywhere in the galaxy.

    • bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

      Trump confirmed it dillweed.

      Try to keep up.

      • Martin says:

I didn’t mind the outcome of Maddow’s overhyped report. I liked Trump paid 2x the rate of Sanders; 24% vs 13%. It appears you missed my point of the questionable credibility and circus mentality of how Maddow and MSNBC presented it. It is a rational return, but it is only 2 of many, many pages and only one year’s return from 12 years ago. Why does this return deserve all the hype and show Maddow & MSNBC gave it? Why? Perhaps you could enlighten me…would appreciate it very much.

        • bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

Martin: your hamfisted attempt at sarcasm or mindless hyperbole or whatever it is that you are after completely overshadows the point you just made.

I have already agreed that Maddow “hyperventilated” and we both agree Trump appears to not have very good tax advisors….as he is paying more than most in his gross income bracket.

So…. your critique is not missed at all.

With all that said….. why the umbrage against Maddow when substantively what she presented is NEWSWORTHY and accurate?

Any criticism regarding her credibility is entirely misplaced.

          Seems rather obvious.

        • NewFormatSux says:

Why? It got Maddow her highest audience ever. That’s why!

  11. Hmeyers says:

    @phydeau

Interesting that you mention this article:

http://politico.com/story/2017/03/trump-white-house-paranoia-236069 … the one saying people in the “White House are scared”.

Both Alex Isenstadt and Kenneth P. Vogel are hit-piece, smear guys.

Like how on the right, Alex Jones and Roger Stone and some of those guys are hit-piece smear tactics people.

Vogel in particular was known for smear tactics on Sarah Palin, as an example.

Politico is often a pretty decent news source, but ironically not a news blog. It’s a mix of true news and yellow journalism, like for instance Glenn Thrush at Politico got caught by Wikileaks email dumps sending stories to Hillary’s campaign team for approval.

The trashy/innuedo stories at Politico are usually bunk, unless the information in the articles are mirrored at the mainstream news sites like CNN or MSNBC.

Politico is a political blog, not a news organization, and they make money from eyeballs and people reading — so the yellow journalism side is just part of paying the bills.

    • bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

HM: your point is worth noting. I hardly paid attention because: …………. OF COURSE ……… any/all half honest, half rational people will be entirely stressed working for a boss who is a nut case.

      The article writes itself.

I still recall rather fondly the boss I had that was the most nuts. Not Trump nuts…. just so self centered, he never even “noticed” other people or their opinions. It was a kind of freedom, once you recognized his mojo. Not like Trump I think.

  12. Kill Bill says:

“The very best way to leak a tax return that makes you look good is by giving it to your worst critics so they can self-immolate on live television. Which is what happened.

I have no evidence that the leaked tax returns came from the Trump camp. But the alternative sounds ridiculous to me. I think the alternative hypothesis looks like this:

Trump critic: “Hee-hee! I stole two pages of Trump’s tax returns from 2005 that makes him look good. Wait until I show the world!”

I realize it is hard for President Trump’s critics to accept the idea that he is three steps ahead of them, and not practicing his goose-stepping in the White House bowling alley late at night while tweeting. But in this specific case, are there really two possibilities for how Trump’s tax returns got leaked?”

    Scott Adams

    • bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

Trump is three steps ahead: only of the looney bin.

The thief gave the two pages to a well known tax expert and Trump critic. That guy gave it to Maddow and came on to say its only the start of more that needs to be known.

AMERICA: is better off with these two pages than with nothing.

NEWS: does not stop with one report, issues get “followed.”

Is there any point at all to your post?……………… Nope.

  13. ECA says:

    tHIS IS all A GAME…

The other side could be doing this, to discredit..
Trump could be behind it, to Play with people..
A trump supporter could be doing it, as it has FEW pages for a corp account..
Could be a democrat supporter trying to SHOW off and make things MORE convoluted..

    This is a shell game..
Confuse, bewilder, and Which hand has the peanut in it..

DONT WATCH THE GAME, WATCH the HANDS, WATCH the CARDS..Forget the GAME..
Look at what is happening BEHIND the Curtain..
How many (STUPID) trade agreements that give CORPS autonomy..
How much money being SHIPPED over seas?
How many JOBS cut from the gov. agencies so that they CANT DO THEIR JOBS..(3 agencies for Food protection Can only handle 8% per year(NOW) and expect the CORPS to use 3rd parties and a Letter to show compliance)
WE pay 3 countries TONS of money, can you figure WHO they are and WHY we pay them??
WE export more Corn and Grains to other nations then WE EAT..(PS, You and I pay for it)
There is MORE, go find it..
