It wasn’t just Michael Flynn who me with Putin. Jill Stein is seated at the table too. Stein, if you remember is the Green Party candidate who sucked enough votes away from Hillary to cause Trump to become president. And here she is with Putin.

A few weeks after the election Stein scammed Hillary supporters with a fake recount effort where she both raised and pocketed 7 million from people who were desperate to do anything to stop Trump. Someone please = ask Jill Stein what she did with the $7,000,000!

More information: It turns out that Stein might have got $40,000 from the Kremlin according to this article.

Third Party Candidates and their effect on “democracy.”

Its a shame the situation is allowed to continue when the fix is so easy….and fun.. and encourages participation.

    CUMULATIVE VOTING.

Its the only way. Why the powers that be don’t switch…. is a mystery to me. They lose as often as they gain from what we have now………so why not be sensible?

    • Born in the USA says:

Wake up! It isn’t “red” party versus “blue” party or anything like that. It’s all about the “GREEN” party (as in money). And one thing you can say about Jill Stein is, she isn’t lying about her allegiance. That’s why I give this whole topic a big yawn.

Like, who didn’t know politicians aren’t attracted to money. DUH! You want your “vote” to count? Don’t make me laugh. Whenever we get a shift in the political scenery it just means someone flushed the financial toilet — NOT that anyone voted.

The simple truth is, you better have enough dead presidents in your pocket if you want anything to change. And my bet is if you have that kind of monetary clout things aren’t likely going to get any better for anyone EXCEPT you!

      • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

All true………… having nothing to do with Cumulative Voting.

    • ± says:

If cumulative voting was adopted, as soon as your favorite piece-of-shit scum part lost two times in a row, you would decry cumulative voting.

It’s just the way you are.

  2. NewFormatSux says:

Why are you so sure she sucked votes away from Hillary, with Trump being so liberal on so many things and talking about Hillary stole from Bernie at every chance, while Stein was calling Hillary the war candidate?
I think people have it backwards. Stein was stealing votes from Trump, and Johnson and Egg McMuffin were stealing votes from Hillary.

  3. Hillary Clinton says:

I sucked as a candidate, as a wife, as a mother, as a woman and as a human being. I played all you liberals for fools and damn near got away with it. You should be happy that I didn’t win. .

After leaving the White House in 2000 dead broke, not even able to pay for my mansions, or my daughters million dollar wedding…I played the system and Billy and I are filthy fucking rich now. We stole as much of your hard earned money as we could, and we’re still doing it as I speak.

    God Bless America.

    • ± says:

      Hi Hillary.

I used to be one of those people who understood that after your brief struggle to maintain an amoral foundation to all of your actions, finally let all that which is immoral wash over you and unabashedly overtake and supplant any last vestige of what-is-right as a basis for your actions. I watched you become complicit in murder, I watched you lie and admit to lying shamelessly, I watched you become a traitor. Then I watched 10s of millions of idiots try to hire you as the leader of the most powerful nation on earth after doing these things in front of them. Even at least one of the intelligent moderators here tried to hire you and shamelessly admits to that. Go figure.

But you have struck a heart chord with your brief interlude of honesty; now I wish I could take back all the bad things I ever said and thought about you. Please run again in 2020.    😆

Putin is so cool I’d eat dinner with him every night

    • ± says:

Dude, I understand your sentiment. But how likely is it that you would ever get within 100 feet of Putin, let alone have a dinner with him? I on the other hand, am available most nights and am entirely approachable. I am not as cool as Putin, but am up there on the cool scale. Dinner at least 4 nights a week would not be inappropriate.

      What do you say?

  6. boomshakalaka says:

    Perkel crickets.

    • NewFormatSux says:

Maybe he’s checking out the fast battery swap station for himself. It made news because a station found no one using it over Memorial Day weekend, and the regular superchargers were being powered by diesel engines.

      • boomshakalaka says:

Interesting that the post Perkel was responding to and the post diretly after his response are now missing. Does someone other than Perkel have the permissions to “lose” posts? Why would “someone” lose the posts that make Perkels response look foolish?

        • boomshakalaka says:

It just keeps getting better. Now the Perkel has removed his foolish response altogether. No evidence whatsoever except for seemingly unrelated posts referring to a self deleted post.

Most people can’t afford to buy solar panels. These are the people who get fucked by increased taxes so Marc and others¹ can make them pay even more taxes thus making them even less likely to afford a solar panel.

I’m all for it tho. Fuck everyone, and vote your self interest, a la bobbo.

¹actually last year, following Marcs lead, I had engaged a $35,000 solar installation which failed for technical (utility voltage) reasons and then I got a refund, last year. Had it been successful, it would have been courtesy of all the hard working schlubs out there who make it possible for others like me who have enuff shekels saved to even think about spending that kind of money. Regardless, had the installation been successful, I would have sucked up that savings, watched the lights in my house, spread the word to my neighbors, while never once forgetting that it was the typical hard working stupid fucking D/R voting hoi polloi whose back I was standing on. Bwhhhahhahahahahahahaaaaaahaha.

      • NewFormatSux says:

Felon Musk actually collects the subsidy from Marc’s installation, then bills Marc for the privilege a higher rate than most of the country pays for electricity! He even pays when he goes on vacation and isn’t using any electricity.

She lost because she doesn’t like people.

Some people complain about the Electoral College.

France is having a presidential election.

They are about the only fucking country in Europe where they get to vote for their leader.

Great Britain? No. Germany? No. Almost no country in Europe except for France gets to vote for the leader.

No wonder Europe is a “Papers please!” continent.

Bureaucrats pick what bureacrat they want to run shit.

In Europe, someone like Paul Ryan or Hillary Clinton could be president.

      • NewFormatSux says:

Many of the countries use proportional voting, which makes it impossible for parties to reform. The worse a party does, the more it is dominated by senior members. France uses it for local elections but not Parliament.

    • Hmeyers says:

Fun fact. Hillary’s campaign spend more than Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns combined.

      Her campaign ran 383,512 ads.

She spent $1.2 billion and never had a campaign theme (Mitt Romney never had one, nor McCain nor John Kerry. Which is probably why all those guys lost. What was the 2nd thing Romney would do if elected? No one knew.)

Bill Clinton: “It’s The Economy, Stupid”
      George W Bush: “Compassionate conservative”
Al Gore: “Going to put Social Security in a lock box”.
Barrack Obama: “Change you can believe in!”

      Hillary?

Never had a campaign slogan and no one ever could name something she would do if elected.

      • NewFormatSux says:

McCain and Dole’s was I’m Old, Gimme!

      • NewFormatSux says:

400,000 ads? That’s it? That would only cost a hundred million! Ads cost about $400 for 30 sec TV or 60 sec radio and campaigns get a discount with their advance purchases. I suspect that much of the money raised ended up in the pockets of Team Clinton, but this is excessive even for them.

    • Hmeyers says:

If “I’m With Her!” counts as a campaign slogan (it doesn’t) …

The book Shattered says Bernie refused to say “I’m with Her” when he endorsed Hillary, even though it was written into his speech.

  10. bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

Hillary lost for the same reason Trump will be impeached: too many powerful people pissed off at them with the majority of the voting public not thinking they are honest……… NOT HONEST…. to the degree they don’t deserve the office.

Yes…… its all politics. Vested interests vs every other interest there is. So far…….. its called “vested” for a reason.

The dictionary. A source of great wisdom.

    • ± says:

As you are wont to tell others to do, go to your dictionary and look up a word. Look up “impeach”. In the political context it is identical to “indict”. And then report back here with what crime there is enuff evidence against Trump to indict him of.

You can’t because there isn’t any such crime (as of yet). Being a fatuous bloviating liberal does not have to be a permanent lifetime condition. It is a life choice. Why people make that choice is incomprehensible.

      • NewFormatSux says:

It’s not identical because you don’t really need a crime to impeach. The Constitution says high crimes and misdemeanors, but this could include legal actions, for example pardoning everyone in prison.

        • ± says:

“high crime” is a crime. “misdemeanor” is a crime. So, what’s not a crime?

          • NewFormatSux says:

“High crimes” is not necessarily a crime. Pardoning everyone is certainly impeachment level, but it is perfectly legal.

      • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

The Emoluments Clause is clearly being violated 173 ways every day that Trump refused to divest himself of his personal/family businesses.

My favorite so far is foreign leaders/lobbyists/business men buying “membership” at Maro Logo at $200,000 a clip so they can “run into” and talk to the Donald.

How long before Trump is hit to divest of that Hotel Building that is not allowed to be owned by people in government?

        …..etc…ad infinitum.

To post as if this was not OBVIOUS…is pure ignorance or dishonesty.

        • Hmeyers says:

Trump made a lot of campaign promises.

If he keeps them, he’ll be ok.

If he doesn’t keep them or he keeps them, but screws things up royally — he’ll have a very hard time getting re-elected.

          Interesting times.

Also, you probably shouldn’t want Trump impeached. Pence would become president.

          Would create 3 problems:

          1) Pence would work very well with Congress and the Senate doing an establishment agenda. The establishment likes to spend money and get re-elected. There would be no conflict with other Republicans.

          2) Pence is a bit like a Joe Biden in personality, all governors are people persons.

          3) Pence is a straight arrow. The guy won’t even go to dinner with a female unless his wife accompanies him.

I don’t think someone like Pence could have ever won a Presidential election. But once you are in the office — think Harry Truman or Lyndon Johnson — changing horses is not common.

Gerald Ford was about in the worst position possible and only barely lost to Carter.

          Article I, Section 9, Clause 8
          ***********************************

Going by the wording, I would say that it is not certain at all that Trump is in violation. Going by the times it was written, I’m sure it was nigh inconceivable that a foreign power could find it fitting to offer something of value to some business any extant politician had some interest in. What is for the courts to decide is that if there is a distinction between the president receiving something personally and directly vs. indirectly when some business he has ownership in receives such a gift.

This is idiotic and another liberal wet dream.
          Next.

        • NewFormatSux says:

10 megajoules per pound of coal powerful.

    • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

I agree re Hillary. I pushed the equivalency to highlight whats more relevant: the underlying reason that Trump will get dumped.

In a real sense, he is dumped already, or never Picked Up to begin with. His term as a useful tool to outlive itself very quickly.

      • NewFormatSux says:

I’ll give you that, for if impeached, not when.

However, Trump has cleverly removed that possibility by doing a money sharing agreement with RNC. He is bringing them ten million a month.

  12. Hmeyers says:

    @Bobbo … recent poll …

67% think the Democrats are out of touch.
62% think the Republicans are out of touch.
58% think Trump is out of touch.

In the land of blind, the one-eyed man is King — errr … President!

No seriously — the only 2 people who seem to have half a clue are Trump and Bernie Sander (may the Flying Spagetti Monster bless Bernie’s soul).

I was laughing watching the Republican convention because Trump was driving a stake into the heart of Ted Cruz’s anti-gay, anti-LGBT agenda.

It’s 2017 and Trump killed Ted Cruz and (surprisingly) Marc Rubio’s “if you get raped you have to keep the rapists baby and give it up for adoption”.

Trump has done more to dismantle the odious guts of the social conservative agenda than any Democrat has ever done.

Trump also doesn’t particularly care about abortion, which you could tell from his statements about keeping the “women’s health” part of Planned Parenthood funded during the campaign.

He’s not pressing for that in the government funding bill, because he doesn’t give a shit. It’s a carrot to try to get the so-called (corrupt lobbyist supported Koch brother bought and paid for) Tea-Party wing to buy into his budget.

    • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

A fine analysis. I’ll quibble and say Bernie is a believer and Trump is just a con man. If Trump “really” had a clue he would have gotten the majority vote of the people, rather than the Electoral College AND he wouldn’t be at 40% approval at his 100 days in office. Very much the broken watch analogy.

Have you seen the news just one week ago re the VERY soon to be arrival of self driving vehicles? I smiled on seeing different reports from different sources all reporting on very different “high drives” to bring AV (autonomous vehicles) to bear. Felon Musk, Jeff Besos, Amazon, several Trucking Co’s, all pushing as fast as they can to adopt this “labor saving” technology AND that tech being up and running in several real life locations. Its been reported “already” that AV is safer than non-AV. Thats probably a push without an excess of data to back it up.

A tipping point for humanity? How to organize ourselves when human labor is not required??????

      I choose the blue pill.

    • Hmeyers says:

Haha, self-driving cars jab in there.

      You should worship Elon.

Him or someone like him will actually make green energy work.

The key to getting energy environmentally friendly is getting it to be superior to traditional dirty way of doing things.

Then everyone will do the right thing because it is simply better.

It’s like bulky CRT televisions and monitors. They died because flat screens used less energy, weighted less, took less space and were cheaper to make.

Green energy ultimately is cheaper than any other energy source.

      • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

Agreed. I smiled again watching the “IRobot” Rumba Vacuum Cleaner advert on tv. Its an autonomous vehicle operating as a whole house vacuum cleaner. I’d buy one if it weren’t $400 with a very small dirt container. Followed by an add for an AV for pizza delivery…and lots of shows about drones delivering pizzas in USA and medical supplies in Africa. Man==that AMA is one powerful lobby. “No pills for you!”

Until its cheaper….. the house can stay dirty.

  13. bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

HM—you know I hate to quibble, so it occurred to me repeat a very telling reveal of Trump especially here as it contrasts with Sanders.

Most would say both were “pro jobs” equivacating the two with each other and with “being in touch with the people” just as you have done above.

BUT===Trump says he is for jobs while he does all his manufacturing overseas and bringing in hotel workers under H1-B visas and such but MOST TELLING: Bernie advocates 15 buck an hour for minimum wage while Trump stated several times that minimum wage was already too high and that wages needed to be reduced.

Heh, heh….who would say wages need to be reduced except someone who sees themselves as top dog in the capital caste system? Say “We need jobs” because you get the roar of the crowed….but meanwhile, take away their wages, their healthcare, their safety regulations…..etc.

Trump: no man of the people……………. Con Man, Business Poser is all that empty suit is.

He should be impeached asap to avoid any more harm. otoh: nothing has been reported as yet that Pence wouldn’t be just as bad….except maybe at the very far extremes. and I’m saying Bombing/Electonic Warfare on N Korea is well past due. It is very “nice” to see that Trump may have very well shocked China into its own reality. Amusing what crazy can do. It won’t be Trump that wins on the change to N Korea but rather our military might built up of fraud and abuse over the decades.

Trumps failure will be not knowing what to do afterwards. aka: he’s an idiot.

    • Hmeyers says:

China and North Korea have responded surprisingly well to Trump.

It has made me think of foreign policy for the first time in ages. (I’d mostly like to not be involved abroad. Fuck Europe, they are leeches taking advantages of the US military.)

Macron — guy who will be president of France — said he wants UN action in Syria. Really? Whose military? France’s??? Haha. Germany? They don’t really have one. They want us involved. Well, fuck France.

France needs to solve its own problems before it worries about other countries. France is becoming quite the shithole.

    • Hmeyers says:

      1) The Chinese are very logical and sensible. Trump is very erratic but also very personable. As a result, the Chinese will do what needs to be done to keep “business as usual” and that means picking the United States and the $500 billion in exports over shitty little North Korea and the crazy fat kid.

      2) North Korea hasn’t done any nuclear tests in nearly a month. They are afraid.

Now, while I don’t think about this often, it is one thing for their crazy fat kid leader to bluster.

But the crazy fat kid is also pampered. He doesn’t want to die. And most of the options available to him could easily rapidly trigger the end of North Korea.

In this case, I wouldn’t want to be Kim Jong Un. Clinton, Bush, Obama were very predictable and stable.

No one knows what Trump might do. It is a bit scary.

But not as scary as it is to be Kim Jong Un. If shit hits the fan, South Korea might suffer some, but people in the United States will be fine and North Korea would be a parking lot.

The most likely thing is North Korea to remain quiet and cooperative. The other alternative is to call Trump’s bluff.

I can’t see that happening, because it would be stupid and potentially suicidal.

      • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

……yeah………… but the Fat Kid lives in a bubble.

………..Have you ever gotten 3 compliments in one day? Much less every hour 24/7.

It affected ME!!! How could it not any other mortal?

      • NewFormatSux says:

The kid has been taught that you act like a madman and the world will pay you, and that the Chinese will take care of you, if only to keep you as an example for their own people that things cold be worse.

Now the Chinese have cut off coal buys, and are threatening to stop oil exports. He’s going with the madman card for now. I don’t think there was ever a third lesson learned from his dad.

    • NewFormatSux says:

      >Bombing/Electonic Warfare on N Korea is well past due.

Why? Why not just take our troops out of the zone and let South Korea take care of it?

    • NewFormatSux says:

The real minimum wage is zero, just as you show with your posts on AV. Once McDonald’s puts in self ordering kiosks and machines that make 400 burgers an hour, the jobs aren’t coming back.

  14. Hmeyers says:

    @Bobbo

Green energy is going to happen.

The sun is the one constant and reliable energy source we have and is the cheapest. We know it recycles because it works in the eco-system.

Saudi Arabia is heavily investing in ways to have a future beyond oil. Great Britain no longer uses coal, and they used to be all about coal (New Castle, for instance).

When electric cars get mainstreamable that’ll be the start.

And all indications are that electric cars are rapidly getting there.

Then will come the electric trucks.

Eventually some Elon Musk-like guy will come up with a way to design vehicles to easily be recycled and make a fortune cutting the cost of production. For an economic reason, that the recycling reduces the cost of ownership and manufacturing.

    • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

On the car deal, we are going to timeshare and uber for “private transport.” The incentive will be for long lasting vehicles. Rather than recycle them….build them to last forever. Saves even more money.

No one knows NKorea or Kim Jung….months ago I read that Kim Jung has been giving the finger to China right from the start. Doesn’t make any sense does it….. to give the finger to China who feeds you and provides you with your energy??? ………. or it could all be a sacrificial goat staked down by China?

      Those orientals.

I personally would be quite upset if we didn’t have the technical means to disable NKorean missiles thru cyberwar. Bombs are so 20th Century. I thought Trump sent the fleet to anchor off NK just for that very capability…… but there were “communication errors.” Just exactly how wars get started.

    • Hmeyers says:

” I thought Trump sent the fleet to anchor off NK just for that very capability…… but there were “communication errors.” Just exactly how wars get started.”

The Chinese interpret that quite differently.

You don’t tell the enemy what you are doing. There was also a false report of the USS Nimitz and another carrier moving towards North Korea.

You know Sun Tzu “The Art of War” was written by the Chinese.

Information and misinformation are the main currency in a conflict.

Trump got North Korea to blink with a tweet.

      • Hmeyers says:

I might add, in the 1980s according to history — Ronald Reagan firmly believed in the Star Wars defense system.

US scientists and the US military weren’t so sure, but Ronald Reagan speaking very forcefully about how the Star Wars defense system would be a shield against nuclear attack panicked the Soviets.

Supposedly, that and the invention of the fax machine were 2 major reasons that Soviet Union collapsed.

      • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

I’ve read most of Art of War. I disagree with most of it. It requires way too much “interpretation” to actually be a guide to war. That interpretation gained by experience either in fact or by reading/knowing military history in detail not readily available.

Words do have their limitations. Hard to capture just what a superior tactician/strategist is really thinking about. I assume more or less the great ones think mostly “alike” with wholly different words to express their ideas?

in 2014, 48% thought Democrats cared about them, and the result was a blowout loss. Now the number is 28%…

Democrats new strategy is “shit talking”

    http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/24/politics/tom-perez-swearing-trump/index.html

    Ah cool!

And people wonder why the Democratic Party is a royal cluster-fuck.

Safe spaces, shit talking, identity politics, outsourcing, wage suppression through illegal immigration, Berkley-like intimidation of alternate points of view — what a wonderful party the Democrats have become.

    • NewFormatSux says:

Trump is goading them into it, asking for funding in the budget, and getting Dems to threaten to shutdown the government over the Wall. Good luck with that in the next election. On top of that Bannon will be able to pick and choose what gets funded during the shutdown.
Oh and he already has authority to build the wall from the Secure Fence Act that Dems voted for. Meanwhile they will continue to say Trump is dumb.

      • Hmeyers says:

I ended up explaining to someone today that I believe Trump runs the Democratic Party.

He seems to be able to get the Democratic Party to take losing extremist positions on issues on a whim.

Bill Maher (my hero), Bernie Sanders (only actual Democrat and he’s not even in the party), and the editor-in-chief are saying Berkeley is establishing itself as the most intolerant place in America.

The editor of CNN said he’d “feel much safer preaching Sharia law in Mississippi”.

Note: Bill Maher was cancelled from speaking at Berkeley because he was labelled a bigot because Bill Maher is against radical Islam.

        • NewFormatSux says:

Saw a pic yesterday of gay protesters saying don’t spread Islamophobia in my name, #Orlando. Jews for Islam, Women for Islam, and Gays for Islam are real things.

        • ± says:

Gawd! Bill Maher cancelled from speaking at Berkeley? Is this Earth?

    • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

Why do you limit this fair judgment to the Dumbos?

Ralph Nader said it best: the parties are two sides of the same coin.

You could be twice as smart….. very easily ……………….

      • Hmeyers says:

Because the Democratic Party is the party we need to be functional.

When the Democratic Party acts like idiots, all hope for the USA is lost.

I was lecturing a “conservative” yesterday about how our political system is in danger.

If the Democratic Party can’t/won’t compete for power in most of the country outside the coasts, what do you think is going to happen?

Why do I mention the Democrats? Because the Republican Party is basically hopeless. It is completely over-run with corporate interests.

The Democratic Party supposedly has smart people in it.

        • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

The two sides of the same coin metaphor is about the Dumbos being over-run with corporate (money) interests as well. Just not quite as transparently has the Republicans who are also doused with guns, religion, anti-science, and family values…….. which is why they can’t pass legislation when they control the whole game.

Yep……….regard: our society in decline. China on the rise. Europe falling apart…NOW or soon.

          …….comes the deluge.

      • Hmeyers says:

        I remember the Republican Debates.

You had Trump and 16 different asshats.

Those 16 different asshats — none of them had a single idea.

Those 16 stuffed shirts were all for TPP, against gay marriage, wanted more H1B visas (fucktards) and competed about hardcore they were on whether or not you had to have rapist’s baby and give it up for adoption.

        It was pathetic.

  18. bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

Raise your hand (as if….): Who here thinks Trumps Presentation of his tax “plan” would be subject to Capital Punishment…………. if stupidity was a crime?

Ha, ha……that was one of my best constructs for a long time. …. I do crack myself up.

Its a lonely party when supported by the likes of Pedro who can’t tell irony from a pile of donkey sh*t.

    • Hmeyers says:

Speaking of capital punishment, there were 20 people executed in 2016 in the United States.

That’s a rounding error away from zero.

In the United States the sentences for serious violent crimes are long enough.

In France, they let would-be killers out of jail after 10 years and then they do it again.

      • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

Yes……I’m pro capital punishment myself. An eye for an eye sort of eqivalence/moral approbation. But…I’d vote for life sentences only JUST BECAUSE: the legal system that renders the judgment is defective right from the start.

After that substantive issue, procedurally, if we have developed to the state that it costs more money to process the multiple appeals……. then FINE!==> JUST lock them away.

Importantly…….I think the moral “evil” of the USA is on display with our “criminal justice” “””””system”””””” such as it is. FOR PROFIT??????? FOR CHRIST’S SAKE??? That is evil served on a silver platter.

Jail should be reserved for the worse of the worse. Only 10% of whats in jail right now. Standard response should be monitoring and rehab. Jails for those who don’t get the hint.

CP….. for those who really want it.

        • Hmeyers says:

I prefer the worst criminals to shoot themselves when cornered or die in a shootout.

Saves everyone involved a lot of paper work.

I really couldn’t say much about the justice system as a whole.

Aren’t there enough government handouts these days that no one who is a citizen should even need to steal?

Most states either lightly enforce marijuana or not at all. In Ohio, it is a fine — not even a misdemeanor. It is like parking ticket.

I guess I’m saying I get what you say, but haven’t they largely corrected it?

I have a hard time imagining someone merely unlucky being in jail in 2017, but then again, I don’t claim to be an expert.

I know serious miscarriages of justice happened maybe up to the end of 1980s. Maybe even the 1990s.

I think body cameras on police and dash cameras go a long way towards transparency, but yeah there is more to go.

But I think we are seeing improvement.

          • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

Yep…… our total system is “acceptable”…..UNTIL…. you are arrested.

Thats when the criminal justice system shows how destructive it is.

But its instructive you say the system was fixed long ago and then mention the need for body cams. You might work on your time line/analysis a bit.

    • Hmeyers says:

I don’t have any opinions on “tax reform” and it really requires a lot of expertise to know what the problems are and how to fix them.

Here is what is strange ….

15 years ago, the tax code applied to everyone.

Today, the standard deduction is massive. It is so massive, that someone might not even need to itemize home mortgage interest.

And on the lower end of the scale, government handouts are hefty. College credits, child credits, earned income credits for poor people, adoption credits, etc.

The tax code has been reformed to have little to no impact and/or complexity on the bottom 50-60% of people.

For the wealthiest 30%, the tax code is super cluster fuck. And the same for large businessness.

I’ve read that American companies have 3 times as many accountants and tax lawyers as companies in Europe or Japan because the US tax code is so massive.

But the thing is — are they really going to fix that?

One thing Obama did well was establish a program that would let most people file their tax return for free online from a variety of choices.

Instead of letting H&R Block and the other parasites charge $300-$500 or more because no mere mortal can deal with all the ridiculous complexities of the tax code.

    ESPN meltdown:

    http://www.outkickthecoverage.com/espn-firing-over-a-hundred-employees-today-042617

When I watch sports, I don’t want politics.

This is why back a decade ago, when Rush Limbaugh was a NFL football game commentator it didn’t work — no one wants someone that reminds them of politics doing sports broadcasting — it ruins the escape.

If I want to read about “social justice issues”, I’ll go to a news web site.

If a sports broadcaster wants to talk about “social justice issues”, I’ll turn it off and find something else to do with time.

I have ESPN ip-blocked so I can’t visit the site even on accident.

I’ll go to CBS Sports instead.

    • NewFormatSux says:

      How much things have changed.
They wanted to put Rush on Monday Night Football, as a new Howard Cosell(like Olbermann he was originally a sportscaster). The sports people liked the idea, but the higher ups at ABC and Disney shot it down, and he ended up at ESPN with the people who wanted him in the first place. Now ESPN is filled with people who would be mad at the hiring of Limbaugh.
