Farrah Fawcett, who soared to fame as a national sex symbol in the late 1970s on television’s campy “Charlie’s Angels” and in a swimsuit poster that showcased her feathery mane and made her a generation’s favorite pinup, died today. She was 62.
Fawcett, whose celebrity overshadowed her ability as a serious actress, was diagnosed with a rare anal cancer in 2006, died about 9:30 a.m. at St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, said Paul Bloch, her publicist.
Three months after she was declared cancer-free in 2007, doctors at UCLA Medical Center told her the cancer had returned, spreading to her liver, and she repeatedly sought experimental treatment in Germany.
I know she was dipsy, but I always thought she was great. That’s just a real shame.
It’s too bad she died. I never heard anything scandalous about her. She was never self destructive, yet she died before her time.
Sad, she seemed like a nice person. The Boomers are dropping like fly’s at a young age.
The queen of my adolescent dreams is gone. But she’ll always live on in my fantasy and in reruns of charlie’s angels or logan’s run.

I recall her image back in the mid 70’s, Charlie’s Angels, big hair, cute nipples, shampoo ads etc. She did a nice job, though, playing a supporting role in Robert Duvall’s “The Apostle” (one of his best). If you havn’t seen that already, by all means check it out.
MY wife refused to go into my reloading room in the garage until I took THAT poster down. It kept her out for almost 20 years.

This has been a bad year for stars of 70’s and 80’s tv shows in general. We lost Farah Fawcett from Charlie’s Angels, David Carradine from Kung Fu, and Ricardo Montalban from Fantasy Island.
