Vivid Entertainment Group on Friday said it would ship an adult movie on a Blu-ray DVD, becoming the first porn distributor to announce it would use the high-definition format developed by Sony.

Adult-content producers have reported difficulty in finding a manufacturer willing to replicate porn movies on Blu-ray disks, and have claimed that Sony is responsible, an accusation that the company denies. Sony’s replication unit refuses to handle adult content, but the parent company says other manufacturers are free to do what they want.

While declining to name the manufacturer, Los Angeles-based Vivid said it would release “Debbie Does Dallas Again” on March 28, a spokeswoman said. The movie would be available simultaneously on HD DVD, Blu-ray’s competing high-definition format.

Did anyone ever really think that porn wouldn’t be available in both formats?

Oh know, we’ll get to see her dirty feet and zits on her butt in full detail.

  2. JT says:

I’m pretty sure I don’t want to see most of these porn stars up close in HD.

  3. TJGeezer says:

I thought “Debbie Does Dallas” was pulled from the market after a bigger entertainment company, the Dallas football team corporate owner, sued over damage to the team’s image or something. Is this a different movie?

  4. Angel H. Wong says:

It gives a new meaning to “I love the 70s”

#1&2. Yes, somethings are best left lo-def.

And I think people were too quick to jump on the “blu-ray wont have porn” repeating history with the “betamax died because it didn’t have porn” thing. Back in the day, the only porn at home was on videotape. Cannot say the same thing today about DVDs of any format – much porn comes in via the internet, so the home video option is not the only avenue.

And, again, some things are better left lo-def.

  6. Joey says:

You’ll need HD’s full 1900×1200 resolution to fully resolve the ooze flowing from the stars’ herpes sores.

  7. Mike Toole says:

Why is this 1978 movie the first porn to be released on Blu-Ray? Is it because the existing film stock is easier to remaster in HD? You’d think they’d just produce something new that was shot in HD…

  8. Angel H. Wong says:

I’d prefer them to remaster my favourite str8t pr0n movie: Deep throat.

  9. Da Hedgehog says:

In this day and age of the internet, only a moron buys porn.

  10. JoaoPT says:

Now, you see… It’s the original, shot, if we’re lucky, in 16 mm, but now with directors comments and Making Of’s… Also with cut scenes and trailers…

    jeez….

  11. JoaoPT says:

    Gags?…

  12. James Hill says:

#13 – The gags cost extra, and you really don’t want to see those girls in HD.

Also, nice hint of camel toe in the picture.

  13. Hazzamanazz says:

Wow!!! Wait a minute people: this is a pure classic of porn ! Like a Star Wars of the mainstream!!! LOL

And Deep Throat should’ve defenelly be on Blue Ray and HD-DVD…hehehehehehe…8-)
