"With a NATIONAL plan..
"Your doctor gets to lower his prices as his INSURANCE goes down..AND if he makes to many MISTAKES, he wont have a job."

How do you expect that to happen?

This bill is anti tort reform. It actually punishes states with tort reform and will reward them if they remove tort reform. Why? The trial lawyers are bribe paying Democrats. The drug companies got a similar cheery deal.

They claim they are going to save hundreds of millions from medicare each year while the number of people that qualify for medicare is going up sharply.

They also claim that you can keep your medical care as is and there won't be lines even though thousands of Doctors have said they will do something else if this cow flop passes. Many businesses will drop coverage and just pay the bloody tax. There is also a major question about the amount they will pay Dr. and others and if it isn't enough Dr. and others will try to get the money from private insurance which is going to drive up the cost so such until nearly everyone is on government run and the medical profession doesn't have the cash to provide decent care or attract the best minds because the job doesn't pay enough. Either that or they just won't take medicare patients or maybe any government patients.

Next if I ran a business I'd work my staff as much over time as they would stand before I even considered hiring a part time employee and had to pay for health care for them. Two to one that tax comes out of the workers pay check.

To put it bluntly American business is going to become as uncompetitive as EU business which means Jobs, Jobs, Jobs are going, going, gone to other nations not run by business hating nit wits.

I don't think McCullough was actually comparing Cheney to Hitler. He merely pointed out that Cheney, an evil doer of some notoriety himself, may be interested in collecting more evil doer memorabilia. I believe Cheney is already the proud owner of one of Genghis Khan's testicles and the codpiece that Napoleon wore during the conquest of Cairo in 1798.

#1, #2, #4

"#1: Goracle, the government mandates individuals to buy many things, such as automobile insurances. I agree that it will be difficult for the Senate to pass the bill.

#1
tell me about that AFTER you pay your car insurance. ENFORCED by the STATE."

Two gigantic holes: 1) You do not need to have car while mandate on health insurance affects anyone ALIVE. Guess, if you don't want one you can kill yourself to solve the issue with this Dem' bill.
2) Mandatory car insurance is there to protect OTHERS from you. In no one state does it mandate that you must cover yourself or your own stuff.

#16. This is different in the sense that states create and enforce car insurance laws. Whereas here the federal government is forcing all Americans to have health insurance or be penalized for not having said insurance.

I pre-ordered the N900 based on past experience with the N810. You don't want a Verizon branded phone. They are kings of locking out features (simple things like, for example, the Slingbox app for Blackberries). I've also read that the camera has some serious focusing problems.

The downside is that it uses T-Mobile's 3G network here in the US, although they just introduced better pricing (and no contract) if you buy the phone instead of subsidizing. Since the N900 isn't being picked up by them (yet), you'll save a little on the monthly bill. And keep an eye on their "coverage" map. They've been adding 3G cell sites in my area all year.

The nice thing about the N900 is that it is extremely easy to get root and that the only thing that happens when you try to install an "unapproved" program is a warning that Nokia doesn't offer any warranty on this software, use at your own risk, etc.

It's like being treated like an adult. Tough concept for some, but I've come to prefer it over the alternative.

The best place for information about the N900 is http://talk.maemo.org. This is the main site for the Maemo developer community (and a lot of users). Right now it's like waiting for Santa Clause (so much for adult behavior) until Nokia releases the darn thing, but once we get through this it should get interesting again.

The droid impressed me when I saw it at my local VZ store. All of the four they had on display were functional, even though it seemed like everyone had tried to install every app they could find on the display models. The screen was gorgeous; the text looks printed on. It would be a joy to read on. The screen finish isn't as silky as the iphone, and it picked up fingerprints. However, it felt -very- solid, much more solid than any side slider I've had before. The keyboard was similar to the LG ENV which I've been stuck with for a while, so that might be why I liked it; not sure if screen typers will ever like a physical keyboard though. I kind of groked the interface in the time I had with it, but it wasn't as elegant as the iphone. The widgets, however, are real cool, and might be fun to use. And you can pull out the battery, which is a must for me, I've had too many battery mishaps to seal the damn thing into the phone entirely. I may get it if a friend of mine who picked one up likes it a week from now.

...unless you live in one of the U.S. states that actually charge sales tax on groceries.

Fixed it for you. :D

Godfish,

That was very informative. Which Palm did you have. I really like my Palm but it lacks modern features. But the Palm 700p is what I consider to be a good phone and I have been happy with it. However the time has come for new toys and I don't want to get a phone that I like less than the Palm.

McCullough, you are so lame and pointless.
Enough with the billionth Hitler-Cheney comparisons, have you not noticed that your new guy is failing bigtime and seems perfectly happy to continue the evil things Cheney did?

Bush and Cheney still rule your lives. You will never be able to get on with life. That means they win.
