Rage Against the Machines

Norman’s offerings are authentic — real computers are hurt in his videos.

Norman knows frustration; he knows the things that people do to their computers during their darkest hours. For the past three years, he has conducted an informal online survey about how people torture technology. The bulk of his respondents, maybe quite unexpectedly, appear to be fairly technically savvy.

“Geeks have real problems with technology designed by other geeks,” says Norman. “Everyone thinks that things should work the way they think things should work. But everyone thinks differently.”

Recyling for nerds….

Does anyone else find it asinine that we need Flash installed to view images?! Heck, why not put them up in uncompressed RAW format and really kill some bandwidth?

  2. Greg K. says:

It’s probably a safe bet that these people beat their pets and family too.

  3. Who needs Flash to view images? Many sites are now offering Flash-free navigation. I know of a few exceptions.

It’s easier to break a monitor than to break Flash, or Macromedia.

Remember how groups used to do fundraisers by letting people take a hit at a car for a buck?

I’d pay a few bucks to destroy a computer — in a huge slingshot would be really cool. Or maybe involving a big explosion.

This is WAY off target but…

How come when I click on a specific item in the “Best Buy” ad, (on the right of this page), it never sends me to the product I’m interested in?

It reminds me of their clerks!

Worked on some projects where my associates felt like inserting the keyboard into the boss’s mouth and his/her headinto the monitor.

    LOL

To be even better, it would try to sell you an extended warranty when you trying to leave the site. 🙂

Oh my, I should relay the experience of Best Buy’s *refusing* to take down a computer off the shelf because I would not discuss the extended service plan. Nothing like a couple 16-year-old kids who are too dumb to know that if the company is willing to screw the customer, it’s going to be even more willing to stick it to the employees as well. I rather enjoy watching their proud loyalty to the company. Suckers.

In the meantime, Best Buy has lost thousands in sales from me as a result. This very day, for example, I received a new digital camera in the mail, which replaces my old digital camera which was also not purchased at Best Buy. The new camera came mail-order from New York, which I’ve about concluded is the only smart way to buy cameras.
