First Pimp cam?

CONCORD: DVx DIVA CONTEST — SO there is a long publicity stunt going on here with Paris Hilton’s name thrown in as a “People’s choice” kind of winner of one of these gaudy cams. By the way, I think that crap hanging from your neck is going to be “in” for the next year or two. Anyway, I only mention this because I went to the website (above) and it too should win something: The award for the absolute most annoying flash-site in history. Seriously. It’s astonishingly annoying.

Then I thought to myself, how about awards for this sort of thing — annoying websites. Maybe readers can suggest some they’ve seen.

    How about this one http://pwned.nl/

[I’m not certain if this qualifies as purely annoying…it’s profane and sophomoric for sure — JCD]

This is too easy– I nominate your blog…. 😉

(Seriously, a great idea, and I can’t wait to see the nominations.)

The NY AG appears to be doing this for users John.

New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer sued a major Internet marketer Intermix Thursday, blaming it for secretly installing software that delivers nuisance pop-up advertisements and can slow and crash personal computers.

    INTERMIX-LA via NY
    6060 Center Dr. Suite 300
    Los Angeles, CA 90045
Their privacy policy says, “The Network may in certain cases collect credit card numbers and related information, such as the expiration date of the card (“Credit Card Information”) when an individual places an order from Network. When the Credit Card Information is submitted to the Network, such information is encrypted and is protected with SSL encryption software.”

The Network ~bling~ bling~ popups, zombie ads, credit card number collector and quick buck scheme. Everything is encrypted and protected by The Popup Network. I wonder if anybody would think I flipped if I went to LA via Omaha. I think that was in a song, but don’t quote me.

Every state should have a complaints page. Here is the NY AG complaints URL http://www.oag.state.ny.us/internet/complaintspage.html

John, if you are using Firefox, may I recommend Flashblock.

    http://flashblock.mozdev.org/

It allows you to play flash on sites selectively.
