In a race where the Democratic votes don’t count and there are no delegates at stake, Hillary Clinton got the most votes of any candidate running in either party. McCain came in second, Romney came in third and Obama came in fourth. Edwards, who came in seventh, was beaten by both Guliani and Mike Huckabee.

Although the pundits will write off the Clinton win in the Democratic primary as a beauty contest, I can’t help but think that when a candidate who didn’t campaign in the state at all comes in first ahead of all the Republicans, who have been campaigning hard there, that it’s too significant to ignore. And it’s an even bigger victory because the Democrats knew their vote didn’t even count.

So if the Democrats don’t blow it by electing Obama, I (Perkel – not Dvorak) think this is an indication that Hillary would win by a landslide in the general election.

  1. RLF says:

People, Obama can not win the Presidency. History makes it clear. You can not win without taking, at least, one Southern state in the general election. Obama is not even competitive in even one southern state. Hillary has good prospects in at least two. It’s time to face the facts and move on.

  2. ECA says:

Do you know WHY, they (demo, reps) will win??
    there ISNT A BOX for
    “NONE OF THE ABOVE”…

do we REALLY have a choice?

  3. Alex says:

    Wrong.
First of all – after the butt kicking in SC, Clinton went straight to Florida to campaign. Bill (while giving Hillary’s concession speech) said “next to Florida” right away.
The candidates signed a pledge to NOT campaign in Florida… but when the going got tough for Hillary, she went for it.
Shocking, isn’t it? Hillary Clinton says one thing and does the opposite. From a Clinton? No way!
It has also been reported that a significant amount of ballots were sent by mail – going as far back as December 24th. – long before people started paying attention to Obama.

    Give me a break, Perkel.

I’m going to give you a great big “duh la cha” for that one.

  4. nurbles says:

Remember, this was a primary, so voters could only choose from candidates in their own party. Just because the Democrats are more heavily biased towards HC over BO, doesn’t mean that she “won” anything relative to the Republicans, who were a bit more evenly spread.

Did HC get more votes than all of the Republicans combined? If so, then one could cleam a vistory for her here. If not, the basic premise of the note is flawed, and the remainder suffers for that.

  5. So, I have been personally SHOCKED at all this political rhetoric online. I don’t think any of us buy this load of garbage the old media and politicians are feeding us. I can see that from the posts here and on other sites. True, a lot of the candidates are corrupt, but you know there is one out there that keeps touting the Constitution. To me that is curious…….

I think people are for some weird reason afraid like I was to admit they support Ron Paul. I didn’t want to be labeled as a “fringe weirdo” but this guy actually makes a heck of a lot of sense and by the way he disagrees with ALL the so-called republican candidates and with the democrats, too (even though he is running Republican). I think you should check him out and see if he lines up with your political views or not.
