A deranged Manhattan pothead set off panic by posting Internet videos claiming he got Gerber employees to poison millions of bottles of baby food, federal prosecutors say.
Anton Dunn, 42, was arrested at his Manhattan apartment Thursday and hauled into Manhattan Federal Court to face charges of sending threats in interstate commerce and falsely claiming to have tampered with a consumer product.
Wearing a black ski mask and calling himself Trashman, Dunn posted at least three videos shot from his shower stall on YouTube and other Internet sites with bogus, hair-raising claims of mass food poisonings that have killed babies, authorities said.
But passenger Garnet Caton said the victim, who appeared to be about 19, was sleeping with headphones on when his seat mate suddenly began stabbing him as the bus traveled a desolate stretch of the TransCanada Highway, a dozen miles from Portage La Prairie. Caton, sitting just one seat in front of the two men, said he heard no exchanges between them prior to the violence.
“We heard this bloodcurdling scream and turned around, and the guy was standing up, stabbing this guy repeatedly,” Caton said from a hotel in Brandon, Manitoba, where he and other horrified passengers were taken…
He said the suspect had the victim on the floor of the bus and “was cutting his head off” with a large hunting knife.
The Canadians, in a moment of understatement said this incident was not common. Hmm. Good to know, IF TRUE!

A nude woman running in and out of traffic lanes on Interstate 80 near Gilman Street disrupted traffic early this morning and required the California Highway Patrol and Berkeley police and firefighters to handle the situation.
The woman was first reported running in and out of lanes at 5:44 a.m. She finally ran off the freeway and into the stables at Golden Gate Fields, where she was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital by the Berkeley Fire Department for a medical check, police reported.
Only in the Bay Area would a naked woman be running around and the top concern would be traffic disruption.
CLEARWATER — Las Vegas illusionist Criss Angel pulled off an elaborate escape from a beach hotel moments before its demolition Wednesday night, first scaring, and then pleasing, tens of thousands of fans on hand.
The stunt, televised live internationally, began with Angel shackled to the sixth floor balcony of the nine-story Spyglass Resort. It ended more than four minutes later with Angel emerging, looking dazed, from the rubble that had been the hotel.
Angel had been expected to escape via a ladder dangling from a helicopter that hovered over the hotel’s roof until 30 seconds before the demolition.
For roughly the first minute of his stunt, Angel was viewable to the crowd on the beach, which spread northeast and southeast from the hotel. He picked the Smith & Wesson handcuffs retired Clearwater police Lt. David Hardman had used to shackle him to the balcony railing.
He then attempted to pick the padlock on the balcony door, but when he failed, he kicked in a window and jumped into the hotel room.

Exxon Mobil Corp. reported second-quarter earnings of $11.68 billion Thursday, the biggest profit from operations ever by any U.S. corporation, but the results were well short of Wall Street expectations and its shares slumped 3 percent.
