“O” is for Oh, God Not Another Speech!

PARADE Magazine | Barack Obama: A Letter to My Daughters — This open letter to his daughter runs in the next Parade Magazine. Why is he doing an open letter to his own kids? Can’t he just take the girls aside? What is the point of these endless campaign speeches? HEY DUDE… YOU WON!

Meanwhile, this has to be a humiliation for any normal kid.

These are the things I want for you-to grow up in a world with no limits on your dreams and no achievements beyond your reach, and to grow into compassionate, committed women who will help build that world. And I want every child to have the same chances to learn and dream and grow and thrive that you girls have. That’s why I’ve taken our family on this great adventure.

  1. Dallas says:

Obama is really talking to the millions of youth out there, mostly African American. This is a clever way of doing that.

What do you want him to do? Dear fatherless negros: …>

Sometimes I wonder about Dvorak heading to the ‘other side’.

  2. Phydeau says:

“O” is for Oh, God Not Another Speech!

It’s great, isn’t it? We’re complaining about the president making too many speeches, rather than about him raping the constitution, starting senseless wars, and driving the economy into the dirt.

    I’d say that’s a step up.

  3. Tomas says:

When I saw that picture….”One Big Circle Jerk”..just jumped into my head.

  4. Cowboy says:

#1 Dallas – Is it such a crime to be bipartisan once in a while?

  5. I says:

What is the point of these endless articles? HEY DUDE..HE WON!

  6. Paddy-O says:

    # 6 I said, “What is the point of these endless articles?”

    Which “endless” articles?

  7. Dallas says:

#4 Cowboy. Sure one can by bipartisan. Don’t count me in , though. I’m fighting a war with the religious right so you know the saying..fight fire with fire.

#5 Pedro ….Barack Osama, Barak Castro, blah blah… Same shit, different day. Also, for you to take a presumed high road here is laughable. Try again/

  9. MikeN says:

    I think I’ll start a BarackTV channel.

  10. It’s already done.

Michael Calderone’s Blog: Comcast launches all-Obama channel – Politico.com Someone mentioned this possibility as a joke. Here it is.

  11. simongiln says:

Has it occured to anyone that the reason Obama keeps talking about the same stuff he talked about during the campaign is that he actually believes the stuff he talked about in the campaign?

This isn’t campaign rhetoric. He actually thinks this stuff does some good. Whether he’s actually doing this for his own kids (unlikely, as he make a far greater effort to be in their lives than most in similar positions), or whether it’s something more along the lines of what #1 Dallas said, he’s doing it because he thinks it’s going to achieve something real.

And, btw, my mother has had an Obama channel on her AT&T Satellite service for months now.

    # 14 simongiln said, “This isn’t campaign rhetoric. He actually thinks this stuff does some good.”

    I don’t believe for a second. He’s not nuts.

  13. brm says:

    #6:

What’s the point? The point is that this guy is now the President, and so we want to track his every move. Just like we did with Bush. GET OVER IT DUDE.

  14. algore says:

this is funny as hell…O my God not another speech!….haaaaaaaaa

  15. green says:

Actually…. O is a sun worshipper symbol as stated here.

    http://tinyurl.com/62cpax
“Perhaps, Obama’s symbols of transformation, his campaign signs, posters and Web site suggest another mythic undercurrent, more archaic or Near Eastern in origin. His marketing materials designed by the Chicago-based Sol Sender present Obama as the modern day sun-god. “We were looking at the “O” of his name and had the idea of a rising sun and a new day,” Sender said. “The sun rising over the horizon evoked a new sense of hope.””

  16. Nadrew says:

    Goatse?

  17. Brian says:

It’s apparent Dvorak wants another 4 years of Bush – I’m surprised he didn’t write up an editorial wanting a constitutional amendment to allow Dumbya to run for a third term.

    Sheesh.

I can’t believe someone is really complaining about a President – gasp! – communicating to us and his family! What the hell is wrong with you, Johnny? Are you that disillusioned that you really want a dumb, silent president like we’ve had for the last 8 years?

    Give me a break!

  18. Dee says:

I don’t see what all the fuss is about. I think the same as #1 & 2…

I believe he is talking to all the kids out there. I also believe that he is a very smart man who believes what he talks about. He is using the “Law of Attraction” very well. He used the right words when he was campaigning (Yes, we can).
To make it short…he is the first of a new generation of Presidents. And I am glad he is.
