A Fox News video clip posted on the Internet YouTube site suggesting Canadian soldiers are weak and effeminate has raised ire among Canadians.

The 5-minute clip was from a recent broadcast of the “Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld” panel show on the conservative U.S. network, Sun Media reported from Ottawa. It was in response to a Canadian general’s remark that his troops would need a year off after their combat role in the NATO mission in Afghanistan ends in 2011.

Gutfeld reported the plan with a sneer, the video shows.

“The Canadian military wants to take a breather to do some yoga, paint landscapes, run on the beach in gorgeous white capri pants,” Gutfeld said.

The segment was posted by an unidentified Canadian who titled it “How to Lose Friends and Alienate Countries,” while conservative Ottawa commentator Geoff Norquay called it “insulting and beneath contempt.” the Sun report said.

Monday, the bodies of four Canadians killed in Afghanistan Friday were flown home. Canada has lost 116 soldiers since the NATO mission began in 2002.

American nutballs think all other conservatives don’t come down to their lack of standards.

  1. relazar says:

I love people who have never served in any way shape or form feel they can comment on the masculinity and strength of any soldiers, be they foreign or domestic.

Hell, even the Taliban fucks are braver than these assholes.

  2. Sai Kai Lee says:

Yeah? Come up to Canada and say that!

If you can find it on a MAP!

    HA HA!

  3. loconavi says:

Who are these idiots? And which idiot put them on TV?

  4. Thinker says:

Looks like this is just something to fill up space late night. What a bunch of junk.

  5. sargasso says:

#4. Fox News, owned by NewsCorp, ditto Rupert Murdoch. Check out, “Outfoxed, The War on Journalism”

  6. Named says:

    3,

They can find it… But it’s so far away… tucked down at the bottom of the globe, surrounded by water…

  7. jj2009 says:

WOW… America is going to find it’s self alone in the world very soon! The world is getting fed up of your neo-con, pro-zionist crap. Rome will fall! 9/11 was a lie, Iraq was a lie, Afghanistan is a lie and America is full of idiots!

  8. PMitchell says:

Uncle Dave your editor is going msnbc on your blog, no matter how inane or foolish the story he posts it, just because of his hatred of conservatives. I seem to remember a comment by you in 2007 that when a new group took over be they liberal or conservative you would be just as hard on them as you were the Bush administration,” Put your money where your mouth is ” so far your lefty lib editor is just being an ass and posting any thing anti PALIN or anti conservative no matter how lame the item is, while at the same time there are at least 10 pages of relevant stories on the new administration and the ruining of the US economy , the socialization of the US , and the nationalization of the banking system.

But your paying good money to have some liberal dink editor find a story about a comedy news show on fox late night to whine about, I had always figured you a decent businessman but it looks like your working hard to change peoples minds and create a second huffington post out of your site

  9. DerFledermaus says:

There’s a reason this junk is on at 3 in the morning.

#1.”Red Eye isn’t news, its comedy…”. Ripping on coalition partners on the eve of their brining home the bodies of fallen soldiers isn’t comedy.

  10. MikeW says:

This doesn’t have to turn into a political bitch-fest.

Canada was one of the first to show support for the military effort in Afghanistan. Their commitment of troops to the effort was only second to the US.

Many of Canada’s elite special forces were involved with the early day’s most highly secretive and dangerous missions. Many of them conducted side by side with their American brothers in arms. Don’t believe me? Google JTF 2

Canadians continue to support the efforts in Afghanistan and the quality of their troops and training is often spoken highly of by US commanders in the field. They have many casualties and are regularly killed or injured by IEDs. Just like Americans.

What would the outcry be if they openly mocked American forces on that channel? I bet people would be lining up to burn the building down.

It’s not political. It’ just BS.

  11. MLV says:

Jesus christ. It’s just a damn comedy show. Don’t take it so seriously.

  12. Dallas says:

You can place Fox News ahead of Al Jazeera as the most responsible international transmission that undermines America.

They transmit their bullshit rhetoric 24×7 in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Italy, New Zealand, Scandinavia, United Kingdom and other countries.

The world hates America due to years of corrupt republican rule and Fox is the diffusion channel for insult to injury.

  13. Jim says:

    #11
Ya , and don’t forget Briton, France and Germany. They have guy’s that are dying over there too.

  14. MikeN says:

Nice to see liberals praising military service for once. During the Bush years, they frequently mocked other countries that sent troops to Iraq, including John Kerry talking about such and such country only sent 1 soldier.

  15. chris says:

FOX hates Canada because Canada has a government and society that works pretty well.

    Canada has:
    1. universal health care
    2. working infrastructure, including in the boonies
    3. competitive but relatively civil politics
    4. excellent government supported tv network (cbc)
    5. toleration of soft drugs, prostitution, and gambling
    6. inclusive immigration policies
    7. a whole region that primarily speaks French

Any of these things, according to FOX, should be viewed as Communist and likely to bring society to a crashing halt.

  16. amodedoma says:

I saw this show a couple of times, generally offensive an with an apparent agenda. I suppose it’s humour if seen from ‘their’ perspective. I doubt that they have enough creative independence to pull this off without the supervision and consent of the network. Just the kind of bullshit that heats up resentment abroad. It’s like Spain’s withdrawl from Kosovo, nobody here (in spain) really gives a sheit what the americans think about it. They’re supposed to be allies not lackeys. If you make a stink about it maybe the next time you have one ally less.
International insensitivity on the part of the US may just end up isolating it more when it needs ‘friends’ the most.

  17. Phydeau says:

Jesus christ. It’s just a damn comedy show. Don’t take it so seriously.

Typical cowardly bully behavior. Attack and smear and defame, and then if anyone calls you on it, retreat! And whine, “we wuz only joking, can’t you take a joke?”

Like Rush Limbaugh calling Chelsea Clinton the White House dog. Ha. Ha.

  18. Selvy says:

Just more red meat for Eidur’s crowd.

I don’t think anyone would seriously rip on Canada’s troops since they do more work (along with the Australians and a few select others) than our European allies do in Afghanistan. Essentially the Eurotroops aren’t allowed to conduct operations in areas where there’s an actual chance of getting fired at, etc. etc…a lot like UN soldiers in that respect, although they are allowed to carry live ammo.

As for losing/alienating allies, even those we actively support and assist blame us for every trouble since it’s convenient for their politicians to scapegoat us. It’s part of the job description we’re stuck with.

    Now lighten up.

  19. CanadianGuy says:

They don’t know anything about Canada’s involvement in the war because of their obvious ignorance and stupidity. No wonder the world hates Americans

  20. Improbus says:

    @Jim

Germany sent combat troops? I thought that the Germans were just doing support stuff. Of course in shit hole like Afghanistan even doing support stuff could be dangerous. I don’t think I would want to do convoy duty in that place.

  21. MikeW says:

To all of those who have said “lighten up, it’s a joke”…please answer this question.

What would the response have been if…

They called US troops in Afghanistan a bunch of pansies on the particular day when 4 of them were killed in action?

Would the US public just “laugh it off”. Think about that and answer intelligently.

  22. denacron says:

As I watched, I was looking for the Onion News Network logo.

  23. Troublemaker says:

  24. Santa Maria says:

Canada does ride off on the security halo created by the proximity to us. Imagine if Canada were to wake up suddenly tomorrow and plate tectonics put it in Waziristan? They’d be target practice for the Taleban..

However, they don’t deserve our scorn. They are fighting on our side at least.

If anything we should pour scorn on the French for not fighting on our side, yet enjoying the security we provide with NATO. I thought that whole “Freedom Fries” thing was a disgrace, Bush should have sent a few bombs raining on Paris to show who’s boss.. and forced the French to join the war alongside us.

  25. QB says:

It’s just Americans talking, what do I care?

  26. Don Coyote says:

Just me, or does the host of that show have a face like dog’s puckered asshole?

The appalling thing isn’t the sheer tonnage of crap available on the American networks but the population that just eats it up.

    Canadian here.

  27. Just Joking says:

What’s the difference between a dead Canadian solider and a dead American solider?

People actually care when Canadians die.

Don’t worry it isn’t offensive because I am just joking.

  28. puzzling evidence says:

Why do they call it Fox News Channel when all it is, is the Fox Opinion Channel ?

  29. Don Coyote says:

When Canadians move to the US, the average IQ of both countries increases.

Sure it’s humor, Alfred1, or at least an attempt–hardly Satire–but some people never get past the puerile stage.

  30. stephenblois says:

I am a member of Canada’s military so I feel qualified to respond. We are tired, we are very small, but we are also losing a lot of good people to support this war of America’s choosing. We also have a good sense of humour and also really good BS detectors. Believe me, they are going off now. No one should take this rant seriously as the source is a clear idiot, and he is pandering to the slack jawed mouth breathers that eat this crap up.
To #33, you are correct, we do care very much. Look up the Highway of Heroes to see what I mean.
