According to Norwegian site VG Nett, bus driver Andreas Jankov has formally changed his name to Julius Andreas Gimli Arn MacGyver Chewbacka Highlander Elessar-Jankov. “I wanted to show that it is possible to be serious and at the same time take the name you like,” said the film enthusiast. “I wanted to see how far I could take it with respect to the number of names. I started thinking about this three years ago and it was approved in January this year.” Apparently, he’s had his passport and bank card reissued, but the name was too long so he dropped “Highlander.”

  1. JC says:

With a mullet like that, I think it’s quite an appropriate name.

  2. Winston says:

Monty Python says his name isn’t _nearly_ silly enough.

  3. bobbo, the devout evangelical anti-theist says:

I’m too busy to do it right now, but some kind of acronym could have been actually appropriate.

“Chame Jag Jankoe” would allow him to keep a job and still have a story to tell? Adding and dropping a few Super Heroes would really increase the choices too.

  4. Fat_Anarchy says:

If I saw a bus driver that looked like that, I’d probabaly just get a cab.

    Whats his DU username?

  5. Ron Larson says:

Norway’s “Comic Book Guy”. Bet he lives in the basement of his mom’s house.

  6. DDub says:

Yeah when I first saw that picture, I thoughthe looks like a Julius Andreas Gimli Arn MacGyver Chewbacka Highlander.

  7. The Wrong Guy says:

#4: Isn’t it Alfred something or other?

  8. O'Really says:

Someone should inform this misinformed Norwegian that the Mullet or Short Long died with Billy Ray’s achy brakey career.

  9. Mark T. says:

    He forgot Jabba.

  10. Mac Guy says:

    Sure beats McLovin

  11. Troublemaker says:

He could have just shortened it to “Idiot”.

  12. My name is this long and longer than you think my name can be says:

Why should anyone have to drop ANY part of their name to satisfy limits in technology. The government claims it’s sole purpose is to protect individual’s rights to free expression regardless of name size. If I had a long name like that I would never change it to please government, let them adapt to my needs, I am the one that has government protects, my right to express my name as I choose. The Native Americans didn’t have this problem with requiring ID, or forcing people to shorten their names, why should I? They routinely had long drawn out names and did just fine, many ways much better than our new improved society we stole from them.

  13. My name is longer than any name that is on the face of the earth that is spinning around the sun and cooling every time it faces the other way says:

Government does not have a right to force anyone to shorten their name in order to fit it on a card, why shorten it, I like his new name, it’s the coolest thing since that dude formerly known as Prince came up with a symbol that no computer had in it’s database and it threw DMV and all these database driven systems crazy, after all, who are we serving, computers and government, or God with one nation under Him? Let’s all recite the pledge of Allegiance again…..

  14. confused says:

I call BS. What kind of person would choose to drop Highlander (obviously the most badass of all those names)? Either it’s fake, or this guy really is stupid beyond belief.

  15. soundwash says:

something about that picture strikes a chord..

off hand, they slipped in something “green” into the pic…similar to how all the protesters in over the Iran election were wearing green headbands..

..the four fingers and the out of place lock of hair jutting out below them…

the pre-posed (and strained?) expression on his face forms a few outlines…

I’ve seen this elsewhere but it escapes me at the moment

  16. Kanjy says:

    Too bad he misspelled Chewbacca…

  17. Animby says:

Are you sure this guy doesn’t belong in the subsequent article about never having been kissed?

  18. pwuk says:

    Twat for short?
