It’s time again for Project Censored’s list of news stories that have been censored, covered up or just not generally discussed in depth or even mentioned in the Main Stream Media. Some of them them are well known to those who read DU and other online sources, and some have a bit of a political bias, but the average Joe has probably never heard of them. Go to the site to read about each story.

  1. Angel H. Wong says:

This journal needs a pic of a chick with huge knockers to make the regular posters to say something.

  2. Cap'nKangaroo says:

story #4 interested me so I read the article.

“Should the cooling system malfunction, the resulting fire would be virtually unquenchable and could trigger a nuclear meltdown, putting more than two hundred million residents of this rapidly growing section of North Carolina in extreme peril”

I live fairly close to this nuclear plant but was not aware that 2/3 of the US population were my immediate neighbors.

This article was published in CounterPunch, a newsletter that “covers politics in a manner its editors describe as “muckraking with a radical attitude”.”

With only these two “facts” I find it reasonable that MSM totally ignores this article.

  3. MikeN says:

On the same day that the The New York Times publishes letters to the Ombudsman about their not covering the ACORN story.
‘People ask me if I’ve heard about ACORN, and I had to say no because I get all my new from the New York Times.’

  4. ArianeB says:

Hmm, 20 out of 25 of those stories I have actually heard about before hand.

Getting the news off independent sites rather than corporate controlled media does indeed make one more informed.

  5. ECA says:

    #2,
they are counting the WHOLE of the east coast..
think about the location. and travel networks.
Anything within 10 miles would be severe.

  6. gunny says:

Mostly opinion pieces rather than factual reporting.

  7. Li says:

#2 If the radioactive particles get picked up by the jet stream, it’s perfectly conceivable that much of the east coast could be irradiated, given the location of that nuclear pit.

  8. Mustardtits says:

How about baxters failed attempt to murder thousands with bird flu
    tainted flu shots.

  9. Li says:

#9 Now that you bring up that story, I wonder why it was not #1 on that list. It might be too international, since the principle actors were entirely in Europe.

  10. Cap'nKangaroo says:

    #6 and #8

    I stand by my assertion

“putting more than two hundred million residents of this rapidly growing section of North Carolina”

At best poor writing and even worse editing.

  11. civengine says:

I call bullshit. The North Carolina article states:
“Should the cooling system malfunction, the resulting fire would be virtually unquenchable and could trigger a nuclear meltdown, putting more than two hundred million residents of this rapidly growing section of North Carolina in extreme peril.”

Uh, that’s 2/3 of the population of the U.S. North Carolina just got very big. If they can’t fact check this little gem, how can we be sure they checked anything?

  12. deowll says:

#12 You can be fairly sure they fact checked nothing.

Some of this is of no interest to me even if true because I’m not local to the story.

In North Carolina the jet stream would carry pollution out to sea though I believe the path is normally well North of there.

  13. Hugh Ripper says:

Clearly Montgomery Burns owns that nuke plant in Nth Carolina.

  14. bobbo, what second amendment says:

I guess thats a good list but I find it disturbing that perahaps the TWO MOST IMPORTANT items aren’t even listed–or maybe 3:

    1. The absolute corruption of the entire government system from local to Presidential.

    2. The Debt piling up at all levels.

    3. Lack of manufacturing base.

Gee–I see I could add 5-6 more. All uncovered.

That list is just another diversion.

  15. ECA says:

lets ask a question about WHAT YOU DIDNT ELECT..

    You didnt elect a economist.
You didnt elect a Book keeper
    ————— a librarian
    ————— a businessman
    ————— a farmer
    ————— a corporate stooge..
    ————— a war hero
    ————— a superman

You elected a person that started as a Lawyer, went into politics, and then you elected him to president.

Do you know what you got?? have you ever lived in a house with a family of 6 people?? and 4 are in their TEENS?? You elected the person to be DAD. You elected a STEP FATHER to a family of 6+. have ANY of you been in this position??
1 person in the WHOLE group might LIKE you and want to keep you around…the OTHERS dont give a dam, and THINK they know what life is all about.
NOW, try to change those minds, so they KNOW whats coming. to FIX their lives.
When it fails those 4+ others will pat themselves on the back…and say..
    HE COULDNT HANDLE IT.

  16. Mr. Fusion says:

A few of our resident ijits will point to this list and give an “I told you”. (pedro, you didn’t disappoint)

These aren’t news stories. They are bullshit pieces with extremely little or no basis in fact.

  17. Bud Ombudsman says:

“Mostly opinion pieces rather than factual reporting.”

Yup. Just like the news that was reported.
