  2. Marc says:

Wow how old are they, 12?

I hope they don’t behave like that with civilians.

  3. Jopie says:

    Video taken offline allready?

  4. Mac Guy says:

Who cares? Let ’em blow off some steam. They’re in a war zone for fuck’s sake.

  5. Dallas says:

#4 If they want to blow off some steam, they can buy an X-Box and play quake.

There are people paying taxes on this end of the war, bozo.

  6. justicegustine says:

That’s war, baby. Blow things up and kill people.

Better ROI than sending tax $$ to the UN

  7. LOL@USA says:

This is fairly typical for half-wit military types. Lets face it, the military is where people go when they have failed at everything else and see no other way to make a living, so it’s not surprising that you get these kind of semi-retarded morons joining.

  8. paull says:

    Yup, $30 for a 40mm M203 round. Oh no.

[Ed. – What a about the cost of keeping those soldiers deployed?]

  9. jeff says:

I really do not see what you people have a problem with.
They probably needed to destroy the tanker and to be honest, that was probably the most economical way to do it? What would you prefer, sending a whole disposal team to get rid of it? I am sure that would be cheaper.

  10. paull says:

What about the cost of keeping them deployed? They’re there regardless and were probably tasked with destroying the tanker. A soldier’s deployment doesn’t consist entirely of blowing shit up on the side of the road.

  11. Rick says:

I’m with #10 in a war zone if has major issues that can’t be fixed what the hell are they supposed to do, Let the enemy have it to find out if they can salvage any secret technology.

It’s not Half-wits that join the military. I graduated from the naval academy and worked on aircraft carriers for 23 years. There are screw-ups and you try to work with them to make them better or they flush out of the system. Oh and I’m not an half-wit. I proudly served this country. I might not have agreed with policy or politics but then again show me a job where you 100% of the time agree with policy.

who cares, no kidin!! amen to that! sheeeesh

  13. AnObserver says:

One of the job’s better benefits, I’d say. Wouldn’t mind a little work like that myself.

    Stupid noob tubers.

  16. just me says:

It is military policy to destroy fuel tanks or other gear which have been stolen and recovered. There is no way of knowing whether it has been contaminated or booby-trapped by the enemy. This may or may not be the case here.

  17. wirelessg says:

They must have photoshopped/muted all of the local residents that complained about this incident since I can only hear the extreme pleasure of a mission accomplished and the whining of blog commenters who are scared of actors on Oz.

  18. Reader1 says:

No wonder fuel is so expensive.

  19. Ah_Yea says:

Here is the real caption to the video.
“A couple soldiers use the grenade launcher attachments on their rifles to explode a crashed gas tanker in the desert.”

No other explanation. It is very common when we cannot recover them to destroy such things to keep them out of the hands of the enemy. A nice tanker would make a great bomb in downtown Kabul.

It’s dangerous over there, like this video shows.

  20. Ah_Yea says:

And for all you armchair pundits, this is what happens when you leave a tanker lying around.

  21. denacron says:

More power to them. The problem is not with using a rifle mounted grenade launcher to get rid of a tank of flammables. That they are there is due to politics.

The politicos have worked their magic well enough that a majority of people would say we are in Iraq because of the attack on the WTC.

I would not begrudge them any pleasure they get from blowing things up. It is where they are that matters most, and that decision was made by those who live in luxury not on a battlefield.

May the troops be blessed and the politicians who squander their lives be damned.

  22. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

Seems like a pretty good shot…wonder how many tries it really took to hit it.

  23. geoff says:

I’m with #10 jeff. they probably had to destroy it. you probably have to remember that this vid is several years old. what makes the vid kinda goofy is the soldiers reaction to the explosion. meh.

  24. Greg says:

I hereby authorize my Tax money to be used to pay for that grenade.

That was cool and those guys deserve some fun.

You can now untwist your panties.

  25. Beltane says:

If recruiters promised each new sign up they’d get to do this once the ranks would swell overnight. Sign me up!

    (standing – Ovation )
    well said!!

  27. jescott418 says:

Go ahead waste a few rounds! You guys deserve a bit of fun. Multiple tours, lack of direction from your leaders, away from families for months or years! Hey its better then killing civilians which will end up on the news.

  28. reflexx says:

I was just gonna say it was a great shot. Distance, trajectory, standing up…..lob & BOOM!

PS: thanks to all our guys serving overseas.

  29. bob says:

#7, you may LOL all you like.

Just remember, he who LOLs last is always the last to LOL.

In all seriousness, your comment betrays real ignorance. Read up!

  30. Airborne says:

    johnrudy #27 . Well said.

To all the troglodytes who can only refer to soldiers as “dimwits” or any other derogatory term they can summon from the depths of their limited cranium: it’s funny how I have NEVER in my 20 years in the military heard anybody make the kind of comments to my face like you make here. I know why. Because you are pathetic little bitches. Please post a video of yourself walking up to a Marine and saying the same remarks. Then we can all LOL together.
