Michelle Obama and President Obama traveled to Martha’s Vineyard just hours apart, costing taxpayers thousands in additional expenses so she could have just a bit of extra vacation time.

Mrs. Obama and her daughters arrived just before 2 pm Thursday on a U.S. government jet, according to the Martha’s Vineyard Times, which got its information from the local airport. The first lady’s office has been silent on her travel. President Obama arrived in the evening along with the family dog Bo.

The extra costs related to Mrs. Obama’s solo trip mainly include the flight on a specially designed military aircraft she took instead of Air Force One, as well as any extra staff and Secret Service that had to be enlisted to go with her. She would also have had her own motorcade from the airport to her vacation residence. This is not the first time Michelle has gone on vacation ahead of the president on the taxpayers’ tab. Last December, she racked up what was likely more than $100,000 in expenses leaving early for their Hawaii vacation.

Things that make you go Hmmmm, or just part of his “jobs” initiative?

  1. Faxon says:

Michele is an annoying fat bitch, and that’s all there is to know. The country is full of them.

  2. Howard Beale says:

not news the opposition to every administration loves to point out the vacations(face it if you are President they are all working vacations) and expenses of those in the White House

did we ever pay off the overspending of the Mary Lincoln? now she was a First Lady who could spend

  3. So what says:

Come on be honest, how many of you would like to vacation with your wife and kids but take different cars etc to avoid traveling with them.

And hey Obama for all his faults has taken less vacation time than bush, bush jr and reagan.

  4. Your Bloody Conscience says:

Jesus. Maybe we should just surgically attach them to each other. Would that make you people happy? Maybe we could also force them to live on the White House lawn, then they wouldn’t have to waste taxpayer money on things like heating or cooling the White House, electricity and running water. We could chain them to a tree on the lawn, make them eat grass and crap in a ditch? But then we would have to pay for grass seed to to reseed the lawn. That is completely unacceptable. Grass seed costs money, and Obama isn’t allowed to spend money. He’s supposed to sit there,on the White House lawn, surgically attached to his family, eating grass and crapping in a ditch, while all the right wingers get to line up and throw rancid vegetables at them. Oh, yea, they should be forced to be completely nude as well, because god forbid they spend any money on clothing, even if it is their own money. Would that make you all happy? Somehow I doubt it.

I hope somewhere down the road you people take a long hard look at yourselves, and I hope you are ASHAMED of the way you have acted over the last 3 years, because it is truly disgusting. Every day you have some new fake outrage to rail against Obama over. SHAME.

  5. Americans who voted for Obama says:

    Big time environmentalists indeed
what a bunch of low life phonies
“We have to get those execs on those corporate jets”
You not them are the low life
Have you ever worked a day in our life – except shake down people ?
And your EPA lowlifes – all just affirmative action types who would not of had their phds if not for affirmative action
The only stupid and worse people are those that voted for this evil individual

  6. R.O.P. says:

I didn’t hear any of you jerks complaining about GWB’s record vacation time while the U.S was burning.

  7. two to the head says:

Nobody paid any mind to this shit when bush, clinton, bush, reagan, carter, ford ,nixon etc. were in office why now??? Black man doing a little too well for our liking?

  8. So what says:

@35 So were you born an idiot or did you work at it?

  9. MikeN says:

So what will be his excuse in two years when he is not President?

  10. So what says:

If not when, and that’s a BIG if with the current crop of publicans wanting the job. He won’t have to answer to anyone about his vacation plans, as he will be a private citizen. You see anybody raising an eyebrow about bush I&II, clinton, or carter when they go on vacation now?

  11. MikeN says:

    >If not when, and that’s a BIG if

If you feel that way, then you should be betting on it. You can get better than even odds that Obama will be reelected at either intrade or the Iowa electronic markets.

  12. MikeN says:

That is, you get better than 1-1 odds.

  13. So what says:

    UK odds as of July.

If you bet $1,000 on Obama to be reelected, you’d receive $1,500 the day after election day, 2012.
That’s a fifty percent return on your money in sixteen months.

I personally, of course, do not endorse wagering in any form.

  14. Jim says:

I’m guessing a “vacation” is something rich people take. When trying to support a wife and kids and trying to save for the inevitable rainy day when the economy goes south and to save for an eventual retirement or health issue, vacations aren’t part of our vocabulary.

Now that I think of it, Dad took a vacation every 4 or 5 years just to keep Mom from complaining about not seeing their parents.

The economy sucks. Too bad no one in Washington D.C. actually feels the pain.

  15. So what says:

Wow Jim I didn’t know I was wealthy 48k must go a lot farther where I live. I take vacation three to four times a year. A week in the spring and usually a week in the fall before school starts another in “winter” and ten days in Colorado for elk season. Hell my single raising a kid alone mother managed a two week vacation every year for her and I. Lets see I remember Mississippi, Florida, Minnesota, North and South Carolina, Canada twice, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, California to name a few. I Guess it depends on what you consider a vacation.

  16. MikeN says:

#43, is it the same odds if you bet against? I’m taking my life savings and betting against Pawlenty at those odds.

  17. Bill says:

He needs to be impeached!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He and his family costs the American Taxpayers more money than he and his family are worth..especially during these trying financial times our country is in. My wife and I live on social security only and can barely make ends meet while He and His Family are spending money like there is no tomorrow. There may be no tomorrow but we should at least plan as if there were.

  18. So what says:

    #47 For what crime exactly?

  19. MikeN says:

You don’t need a crime to be impeached.

  20. So what says:

    OK for what reason?
