“the smartest guy I know in terms of the economy” – Smokin’ Joe Biden

Just a few months ago Jon Corzine was on the short list to be President Obama’s Treasury Secretary, but now he’s ignoring a request to testify before a House subcommittee investigating the demise MF Global and setting up a showdown that could have major political implications for the president as his 2012 re-election looms. If you want to know why the president is so lame on the economy, consider who from the private sector he surrounds himself with for advice: Jeffrey Immelt, the chief executive of GE, which creates more jobs overseas lately than here in the US: Warren Buffett, the billionaire investor who when he isn’t lecturing people on the need for higher taxes, uses every loophole imaginable to avoid paying his fair share, and Jon Corzine, who until recently was the CEO of MF Global.

Lately, I have been thinking about joining the “dark side”. Lets face it, the criminals who run our government won’t stop until they have it all. And if you’re well connected, you can get away with anything.

The president and Corzine are known to be pretty close, and it goes beyond the president’s visit to Corzine’s swanky midtown Manhattan apartment for a fundraiser or the hundreds of thousands of dollars that Corzine, the former CEO of Goldman Sachs and former New Jersey governor, raised for the president this year. Don’t believe me, listen to vice president Joe Biden who said Corzine helped the administration develop its stimulus program (he wanted it bigger than the originally planned $300 billion; the final package was closer to $1 trillion) while referring to him as “the smartest guy I know in terms of the economy.”

The president and the vice president will eat those words one way or another in the coming weeks and months. In a business where optics is everything, consider the following: Now that Corzine has ignored his request to testify before a House subcommittee on investigations regarding his role in the bankruptcy of MF Global, he will likely be subpoenaed since Republicans control the majority of the committee.

When the lawmakers and enforcers are allowed to do whatever they want, then why should I pay more taxes, obey laws, vote and bow to an unbelievably corrupted government. Where is the incentive? It’s almost like these idiots want an uprising…..hmmm.

So, aside from the Republican agitprop – is there a link?

    • Dallas says:

No link. This is a bone for the Teapublicans.

Btw, Everybody loves warren buffet and I too look for every possible means, including loopholes, to reduce my taxes legally.

      • McCullough says:

Yes, HuffPo is a well known conservative rag.

        • Dallas says:

Yeah well. The piece is by Charles Gasparino, a Fox Business News contributor (ie Rupert Murdoch lackey and kiss ass). It’s on HuffPo because they are fair and balanced.

Either way, even Gasparino admits the Fifth may be the best move because “such hearings are built-in perjury traps”.

          • Mikey says:

So your OK with what this guy has done, because he’s a friend of Barry’s….got it.

How would you feel about him if he stole your money. Never mind, you won’t answer that.

Could you be any more of a liberal shill?

          • Dallas says:

Well Mikey you ask and ans your own questions and draw your own conclusion. That’s the def of an insane person.

  2. Gary, the dangerous infidel says:

Corzine was almost killed in an SUV rollover accident back in 2007, suffering multiple fractures and significant blood loss, with his doctor saying he was lucky to be alive. After cheating death on the Garden State Parkway, he probably thought he was invulnerable, so making huge multibillion dollar bets on European sovereign debt probably seemed safe by comparison.

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away 😉

I have been thinking about joining the “dark side”

You’ll never get to do it.

These low-life pricks, useless cunts and mean-spirited cock-biters are bred to step on and abuse people from their parents birth.

If your parents didn’t instill in you a sense of superiority as well as a sense of entitlement and if you don’t come from people who bankrolled your first election to class president in junior-high, you’re too late to make the grade.

Just be honest, keep a low profile and stay out of debt.

Remember, its better to actually own a shotgun shack outright that to owe on a mansion that could soon turn into a cardboard box on a sewer grate.

    • deowll says:

Might I suggest a wood stove and min Trangia for that shack? Remember a very small well insulated building is easier to heat.

  4. seetheblacksun says:

    Is the “dark side” hiring?

  5. soundwash says:

-cant we just try them all for treason and get it over with already?

  6. jpfitz says:

Obama will go down as one of the worst Presidents, Bush put us is trouble and Obama fans the flames.

  7. jbenson2 says:

What’s up with the Dvorak followers?

17 comments so far and only 1 “Blame Bush” post.

    • Dallas says:

That’s a given. What’s left is either to (1)debate the fix or (2) pass the guilt to Obama.
I know which one you picked!

  8. Dr Spearmint Fur says:

Well this is embarrassing. Oh wait, America is already bored with the story. Never mind.

  9. Rick says:

Corzine was always dirty, this only became news because the latest crop of GOP candidates is so embarassing the fanbase needs a diversion.

    • Bramwel Wandola says:

That is politics for the weak…it will become dirtier by the day
