So is Adam one of the 47%? I see on curry.com it says “I am a firm believer the universe will provide”!

  2. BigBoyBC says:

Curry says “…ever since Microsoft took over Skype, they’ve just started to suck balls…” Either Curry is once again hating on Microsoft or he has a very short memory. Skype was just a problematic before Microsoft took over as after.

    • Glenn E. says:

I believe the expectation is that whenever Microsoft “takes over” something, that they’ll somehow improve it. And when that doesn’t happen. They’re blamed for making it worse. When all M$ is really after is controlling the competition. If they can’t beat it, they’ll own it. But they’re not going to improve it. If nothing else works better.

So until something comes along that out-skypes Skypes. The world is stuck with the one and only.

The other thought channel is that perhaps owning Skype, scares anyone else from trying to make something better. Since M$ has the deep pockets to lawyer a competitor to death. And perhaps Skype is really a tool of the NSA/CIA/FBI. That’s why it has problems. Doing more than what they say it’s doing. And M$ just lent more legitimacy and market dominance to Skype, by owning it.

Skype is on life support and fading fast.

Microsoft doesn’t do anything accountants don’t like, and accountants don’t like to spend money. (Which is why trickle down economics is total bullshit. Accountants are there to stop anything from trickling anywhere, and if you’ve got money, you’ve got accountants.[Sorry Mr.s Gates, Balmer et al, you’ve got accountancy…])

Remember what happened when Microsoft had finally got rid of that pesky Netscape?

Work on Internet Exploder immediately stopped, (even before the justice department had rolled over to get its belly rubbed, and work did resume until FireFox had risen phoenix-like from the ashes to such a degree where Microsoft had to do something, (like rebuilding the IE team and starting work again.)

I use Skype every day and I have never had issues with sound quality in the past two years.

    • msbpodcast says:

Its one thing to use it like it was a computer’s phone because you can excuse a great deal of crappy sound.

Its another thing to try to record shows with it.

      • orchidcup says:

I record some Skype calls and I use headphones with a microphone.

I have not had issues with crappy sound.

I am wondering if there is some other issue with John’s setup, or with the recording setup.

        • BigBoyBC says:

Well, the assumption that it’s always John’s setup is just that, an assumption. It’s just as likely that it’s Adam’s setup.

          • orchidcup says:

I thought Adam had said he is doing the recording.

That would imply a problem with Adam’s setup.

        • I resist this accusation. I myself use Skype to record DH Unplugged with no problems. This is not on my side. Also I’ve done Twit for years over Skype and you will find no issues there either. Adam has zero problems in Texas.

          • orchidcup says:

That is interesting. I listen to the live stream on the Roku channel sometimes and there is definitely a difference in sound fidelity, most noticeable when Adam is doing a remote.

I listen to the recorded show on the Roku channel and the sound is better, although not as good on your side.

A puzzling conundrum wrapped in an enigma and shrouded in mystery.
