An updated version of the Twinkie Defense?

An Indiana man convicted of setting fire to an Ohio mosque attributed his crime to the influence of Fox News, which he says convinced him that “most Muslims are terrorists.”

Randolph Linn, 52, of St. Joe, Indiana pleaded guilty to arson for burning the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo. His plea will result in a 20-year prison term; prosecutors had sought a 40-year sentence.

Linn told the court that on September 30 he had gotten “riled up” as a result of watching Fox News and drinking beer. Linn claims to have drank 45 beers in seven hours before heading to the mosque and setting a fire in the prayer room. He was also reportedly armed with a revolver at the time.

Interesting and novel defense that many liberal would likely love, but; willful ignorance is no excuse!

Maybe the Ohio mosque can sue Fox news for Libel and/or Slander, using this case as support? Wouldn’t that be justice!

  2. The0ne says:

LOL and then WTF with some of these people. And you guys want guns to go to the hands of these whackos? I don’t know who’s nuttier!

    • gimeabreak says:

I am not aware of any type of gun capable of independent movement; so I am unclear how any guns can “go to the hands of” anyone.

Ask not for whom the bell tolls you nutty dumbass.

    • Bla Bla Bla says:

I want guns to go to anyone who wants one. I DON’T want guns or even CARS to go to anyone with a CRIMINAL RECORD or even mental health problems. But hey, RESPONSIBILITY seems to be a foreign concept these days since all anyone can talk about is limiting what responsible people can express themselves with – not what IRRESPONSIBLE people can DO!

(Can’t you just see one of these lib-tards jumping in here? Wait for it…)

  3. spsffan says:

Please! I virtually never watch Fox News and I know that Muslims are terrorists. Maybe not as much terrorists, overall than Fox News itself, but I calls ’em as I sees ’em.

    • wow. just wow. are you sure you do not watch fox news? to decide that an entire swath of our population is a bunch of terrorists based on their country of origin (since you cannot tell if someone is muslim unless you ask) is the most small minded racist thing in the world. pathetic.

      • Bla Bla Bla says:

It’s not like the BIBLE BELT isn’t full of crazy people or anything. Just them box cutting crazy foreigner Muslims. Right?!

(What a damned fool thing to say.)

      • spsffan says:

Hey, I come from a country founded by treason! What do you expect??

It was supposed to be somewhat humorous, but I guess those who DO watch FOX NEWS have had the sense of humor driven out of them.

        But, for the record:

It has nothing to do with race. It has to do with religion. Of course, I don’t see Presbyterians flying jets into buildings. But “Christians” are terrorists too, as far as I’m concerned, as they continually threaten me with “eternal damnation”.

“Linn claims to have drank 45 beers in seven hours”
OK, so we know the article was written by an idiot, we must assume it got every other fact wrong.
So to summarize, fictional reporting leads to fictional assumption leads to fictional assertion.
0/10 for journalism, 10/10 for narrative. So perfect propaganda, and the humorous spin gives it complete insulation.
    Good work.

    • mharry860 says:

stormtrooper 651,“Linn claims to have drank 45 beers in seven hours”, exactly. That’s impossible unless it was Coors Light. Even then I still say it’s impossible.

      • noname says:

        “Linn claims” says it all.

If you can’t count or approximate your beers then you might be a fox viewer and believer!

Watching Fox kills more brain cells then any beer!

        • gimeabreak says:

“then” any beer? really? “then”? What time period does beer represented in your comment?

Why is it so many people on the left are incapable of writing above the fourth grade level? I’m not even going to ask if you know what the word ironic means.

          • noname says:

Did I make another self proclaimed intelligent conservative mad?

“intelligent conservative”, now that is ironic!

          • stormtrooper 651 says:

We need more organ banks like Noname with their sub-human intelligence.
Shitizens with a brain capable of understanding the concept of irony are a potential liability.

          • noname says:

stormtrooper 651 is mad now, how sad 🙂

He called me a name and made fun of me; I am so sad 🙂

stormtrooper 651, watch out, don’t blow a blood vessel yet!

It’s going to be a fun and Happy New Year all!

        • Bla Bla Bla says:

And YOU are PROOF of that?!

Care to look up the words THAN and THEN?!

It’s pretty clear your enlightened liberal education system is better THAN Fox. Ya, VERY CLEAR!

  5. Dallas says:

This is an interesting case. It exposes what is generally known in the liberal community that a large percentage of the Sheeple are a snort of coke or a six pack of beer from committing an atrocity.

Organizations such as Fox, NRA, GOP, AFA and other extremist groups incite these loons to cross that thin layer that separates them from insanity.

    • gimeabreak says:

Fox is a corporation, the NRA is a lobby, the GOP is a political party, and the AFA is an association. None of these “groups” appear in the long list of recognized extremist groups in the world, so you were obviously trying to employ some form of hyperbole to make a point.

An atrocity is a cruel act, usually associated with war. There are over five billion gallons of beer consumed in the US each year. Because it only takes a “six pack” to get the millions of Fox viewers to commit an atrocity, there obviously are hundreds of mosques burned every night.

EVERYTHING you said is wrong. That is exactly why you are absolutely correct. Why? Because “what is generally known in the liberal community” is always completely WRONG.

      • Dallas says:

Are you playing dictionary or thesaurus or something? If you are, you suck at it because you’re wrong.

All the organizations I mentioned above are in fact organizations. There are a variety of legal types of organisations, including corporations, governments, ….

Therefore, since you are wrong on the above, and didn’t take the time to research your response to ‘correct me’, then you are a moron and a liar. Everything you say from now on is assumed to be a pile of shit.

        • It doesn't matter says:

          So what? You’re still WRONG.

(Oh, and we’re rubber and you’re glue. So “everything you say from now on” bounces off and sticks to you.)

What a selective mind you have.

  6. John E. Quantum says:

If he really did drink 45 beers he could have put the fire out by himself.

  7. He was armed with a revolver at the time? Then it stands to reason that it was not Fox News, but his evil handgun that was telling him to do this. Much like the Son of Sam’s neighbor’s dog.

  8. MartinJJ says:

I bet Fox News never reported that.

    • gimeabreak says:

Fox news usually waits a day or so on these “evil republican attacks minorities” stories because they always turn out to be registered Democrats or mental patients (sorry about the redundancy there).

  9. Supreme Ultrahuman (I see the comment system is still designed for retards.) says:

45 beers in 24 hours is believable because I’ve done better that that myself. 45 in 7 hours – i don’t think so.

As to the rest, The rest of the networks try to keep a lid on by hiding the truth, but it’s hard to tell the real percentage of Muslims, just like Westboro is just a percentage of Baptists.

One group that for sure is mostly terrorists is the IPCC,

  10. deowll says:

45 beers? Beer in that amount is not good for the little gray cells. He wants to blame Fox. Fine. He just reminds me of BO. Nothing he does is his fault.

  11. B. Dog says:

You think he’s smooth? I ate 45 potato chips in an hour and my county’s drones burned down 2 mosques, so there.

  12. Glenn E. says:

Hard to say what entity will take the major blame for “riling” him up. Fox News or the beer. But have tons of lawyers to back them up. So I’m pretty sure they’ll just blame him. Since he’s only got the one lawyer.

  13. Glenn E. says:

It’s so obvious. Beer and Fox news don’t mix, without disastrous results. So it’s time to put an age limitation on the consumption of Fox News. Say about 85 years old. When you can be sure they’re way too old to hurt anyone, should they get boozed up while watching. The worst that might happen is that they start a food fight at the retirement home. 🙂

  14. orchidcup says:

    Alcoholics watch Fox News.

    This is news?

  15. Violent racist morons watch Fox News.

Tell me something I don’t know.

    • Bla Bla Bla says:

Religious retards watch NBC, CBS and ABC right along with the rest of us.

      Did you know THAT?!

      • Bla Bla Bla says:

But then you NEVER hear all the bitching and moaning when FOX airs that most brain dead of all shows – American Idol!

        (Talk about selective IGNORANCE!)

  16. UncDon says:

Fox News often causes many people to spontaneously say nasty hateful things about liberals. Where are the cops when that happens? Think of all the potential crimes that could be averted with a simple stern conversation and a cooling off period overnight in jail.
