    Hello,

I really loved your latest post on “Turkish Policeman Confronts Press”. I have gone ahead and added “Dvorak Vincensored” to my Flipboard. Keep writing awesome stuff, and I will keep reading it.

  5. Lib Setag says:

He was really steamed. These Turkish Police seem pretty cool under pressure. In SoCal, when you get them that upset, they just shoot you and say that you made them fear for their life.

  6. jbenson2 says:

    They are correct.
The photographers’ job is to put the police in a no-win situation.

    • Hooman Who says:

I too can understand that cop’s irritation. After all, those “reporters” and the press don’t get to make any money if there’s nothing sensational going on. It’s called “ratings”!

So what do those reporters do? We didn’t get to see that part. We just saw the entertaining aftermath. We got to see some cop who was pissed off after the fact but never got to know WHY!

What I saw was only HALF of the whole story – if it was even that much. But if anyone else said that cop was overreacting or was a bit too animated then they are probably idiots for making a rush to judgement. Because if the WHOLE truth were known, most of us might be commenting on haw amazingly restrained that cop was — although we’d probably still be laughing at his fart comments (which is why we can expect to see it rerun again and again in the main stream entertainment circles).

He works for the state. He should be ridiculed. If he can’t hack it, he can find another job.

  7. msbpodcast says:

    I can understand him. (No, I don’t speak Turkish. 🙂 )

The poor 99%er cop is not a member of the 1%ers but he’s being made to do Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s bidding, and he knows its not working.

“I saw there were young people protesting peacefully here, but the police used violence against them. That affected me. I am here to support them,” said Mercan.

Now that the protests have turned non-violent (passive resistance works even on the lowest minion*) even the most rabid Islamist 1%ers are deserting Prime Minister Erdogan like he has a disease, and so he does, its called being a complete and utter bastard.

When it comes to passive resistance, as Mahatma Gandhi knew and put it so eloquently: “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

The pressure on the 99%ers is massive. You can’t go around clubbing and beating somebody who’s just standing there for just standing there.

*) In Chile, the mothers of “Los Disparados” knew that any disturbances would be met with extreme violence (Pinochet’s troops were savages,) so they just stood there holding pictures of their missing kids and said nothing, just looked disapprovingly and disappointedly at military troops. Thousands of them, shadowing the troops, silently, like a guilty conscience. Pinochet died in 2006, was cremated (perhaps to give him a foretaste of Hell,) and the mothers live on. Pinochet’s legacy is that his own children will forever be ashamed of their father’s legacy/.
