The Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooter mentioned “baby parts” to investigators implying that his motive was the highly edited videos created by the anti-abortion group “Center for Medical Progress”. Earlier the year CMP released several videos that falsely claim that Planned Parenthood is in the business of selling baby parts.

It makes me wonder if CMP might also be criminally responsible for the latest Colorado Springs abortion clinic attack. If for example I yell “fire” in a crowded room and people stampede and someone gets killed because of what I said, that’s not free speech – that’s manslaughter.

Similarly – if someone creates a fake video saying that babies are being chopped up and sold for parts and some nutcase believes the video and starts killing people, isn’t the author of the video criminally responsible too?

Regardless of the criminal responsibility there definitely is a direct causal effect between this shooting and the video and the cops killed would still be alive today if CMP hadn’t made the false video.

For someone who claims to be in the church of Reality, you are very quick to declare something fake without explaining why.

Somehow, even Planned Parenthood is not so quick to declare this guy a right wing pro-lifer. Perhaps it’s because almost all of the news stories about him describe as nutty, not particularly political, nutty, no views on abortion, nutty, didn’t have guns, nutty, wanted to impeach Obama, nutty, did I mention nutty?

    • Martino says:

Heavily edited or not, I watched and heard these women discuss pricing of human fetus tissue and parts. So I have no idea where Perkels delusion stems from.

      • MikeN says:

I suspect he is thinking of these media stories that attacked Carly Fiorina as lying about the videos, because they show two separate sets of footage together to depict what the person is saying.

    • NewFormatSux says:

Activist journalist Wesley Lowery, claimed on twitter to have heard from a Planned Parenthood employee that mentioned “no more Baby Parts” as he was escorted from the premises. Later when Lowery wrote his actual story for the Washington Post, the Planned Parenthood employee had become an “unnamed law enforcement source.”

Is it possible that the fake here is not the videos but Marc’s statement as to why the shooter was there?

This is a guy without electricity who would end up with more knowledge of internet videos than your typical newsviewer. Many of them had no idea what was being talked about in the Republican debate, because Donald Trump had brought in so many viewers who don’t regularly watch FoxNews.

Gun nuts and abortion. “Choc Full of Nuts.”

Of course CMP is guilty, just like the KKK was guilty (and found so in court) for the murder of certain blacks.

but with 60% of Americans believing in Angels…hard to get a guilty verdict. Charge them nontheless, its the moral thing to do.

I don’t know what the baby parts connection might be, but my first thought is that the parts are from dead fetuses…not alive babies. Yes…most fetuses are alive before the abortion but the abortion would have taken place, harvesting or not. Stupid to waste organs that can save another life.

Abortion and Gun Nuts…and hating the gays, and immigrants…and the death tax on those inheriting over 15 Million Dollars (whatever $).

    Yep, ya gotta love America.

Please leave then. Syria may be a better fit

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

I’m pretty sure that regardless of what you are referring to, Syria would be even worse.

Its brain dead head up your ass comments like yours that justify my post.

Thank You for demonstrating the issue.

    • Michael says:

It surprises me that Marc has fallen for (or knowingly propagates) this talking point. This post is a great example of how one can say something which may be true but is definitely deceptive. Saying something is “heavily edited” does not mean anything about the content or context, the parts that matter, being manipulated. Even the first article cites the PP-originating study (from researchers who had very little of the data) that says the videos “did not reveal widespread evidence of substantive video manipulation.”

There’s another Coalfire (Google them) analysis that says there were edits to remove waiting, breaks, eating, etc. when nothing was being said.

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

What do you bet “everyone” is talking about different videos? IE: everyone could be telling the truth. I doubt it, but “could be”?

Bottom Line: the videos are used as “proof” that PP is engaged in illegal and monstrous behavior.

Fact is: PP activities are completely legal and performed in acceptable medical practices and standards.

Don’t confuse “you” being upset with other peoples Free Exercise of their own Beliefs with anything inappropriate going on.

        That would not be prudent.

    • MikeN says:

NO they are not dead after the abortion. They make an effort to keep them alive for the harvesting.

      • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

Mike–even if true, even to the degree that is true: so what?

You are just manufacturing outrage because you disagree with the basic concept of abortion. Most people support it, the Supremes Support it.

        sucks to be you.

    • jpfitz says:

Agreed bobbo, CMP should be looked into and how these videos and lies about illegal fetus parts was akin to pouring gas on a fire. The moral ambiguity displayed in the videos will incite the pious christian to the rescue. With propane tanks in one hand and a “long gun” in the other Christs will will be done.

It seems to me we have more terrorists that are American white males striking In the “homeland”.

An FBI study of active shooter incidents.

    • NewFormatSux says:

How can Planned Parenthood complain about people committing murder?

  5. Eddie says:

I’ve wondered the same thing, Marc. I’ve wondered if those “baby part” stories were fabricated. (And if they were fabricated, why have they not been denounced by the gov?) It’s come to where I don’t trust our news media anymore regardless of which political extremist views they endorse. I’m beginning to notice that other people see what I see, too.

When we talk about the “free press,” we’re talking about freedom from government influence. Maybe we need “freedom from profiting by lying.” Stop using propaganda techniques on us. In plain English, we could use some integrity in the press. Americans suddenly growing brains is not in the cards.

  6. Ah_Yea says:

I like Marc, BUT… This post is inanely stupid.

First, CMP released the full videos, unedited, which videos were found to be just what CMP said they were. A simple google search confirms this.
Along with this, if Planned Parenthood wasn’t selling baby parts, then why make the statement that they will no longer be selling baby parts?

Second, Why are we talking about these videos, which were proven to be accurate, and dismiss real lies like:

    “Hands up, don’t shoot”
“Trayvon Martin could have been me”

Anyone understand that the murder rate among blacks is 50% higher this year? That’s HUNDREDS more lives lost.

Why isn’t Marc talking about this?

I know why, does anyone else??

  7. Manny says:

Personally I am offended that Darth Vader is evil just because he’s black. You Star Wars nerds need to be more Politically Correct.

And dont get me started on the guy in the hoodie.

  8. JAK says:

Sad to say but nothing unusual about this shooter. Go to any big GOP rally and you’ll see a lot more of these wack jobs.

  9. Mr Diesel - No more bush in the White House, Hillary's or Jeb says:

Sadly, this is the most stupid thing I have seen Marc post.

The videos were heavily edited but you can watch the complete videos and they are exactly what CMP said they were. Ghoulish and despicable human beings talking about harvest fetal body parts.

  10. MikeN says:

So should abortion ‘doctors’ be required to have admitting privileges at local hospitals? Planned Parenthood doesn’t seem to care.

Ad why doesn’t Planned Parenthood support over the counter birth control/ abortion pills?
They got the Democratic HHS Secretary to veto it.
Could it be that they are more interested in the money from abortion than the feminist abortion agenda?

    • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

So should abortion ‘doctors’ be required to have admitting privileges at local hospitals? Planned Parenthood doesn’t seem to care. /// Why should they. Almost all low “ambulatory” procedures are done in Doc’s Offices. Its called: creaming the profit off the healthcare system.

Ad why doesn’t Planned Parenthood support over the counter birth control/ abortion pills? //// They should. I suspect only when it is an alternative to getting the same pills for free as part of their insurance plan? YOU WOULDN’T BE THIS DISHONEST would you Lying Mikey?

They got the Democratic HHS Secretary to veto it.
Could it be that they are more interested in the money from abortion than the feminist abortion agenda? /// Hey douche bag==they are non profit offering broad services to low income women.

      • NewFormatSux says:

        There goes your reading comprehension.
        These doctors have admitting privileges.

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

SNF–thank you for your close support but the issue was whether or not they “should” not if they “do.”

Two different issues. I know, its confusing when the words are about the same subject.

          • NewFormatSux says:

No I wasn’t supporting you. Your ambulatory doctors in their offices have admitting privileges, it is the abortion doctors that don’t.

BTW, we look like complete insane gun-toting ignorant sociopaths from Europe. Most Germans I talk to cannot believe this is happening at all, and are amazed and terrified at the current political and cultural situation in the US. The anti-PP apologists simply come across as misogynistic thugs and the violence and murder being perpetrated in the name of “pro-life” is cognitive dissonance of majestic proportions.

We have some real problems. We would rather persecute, harass, and physically intimidate people who desperately need help, not hate, than acknowledge that a woman has the right to decide for herself what happens to her body. We have all kinds of “morality” law against sexual behavior and how women can act, all based on a creepy perverted obsession with what other people are doing sexually.

The sadder part is that this insane behavior has ramifications that reach across society, infecting communities large and small. All of this hate and fear is impacting everyone negatively. Our economy suffers, public health suffers, community and citizenship suffer, and nobody wins except those that are using the crazies to further their political agendas.

  12. The Truthful ONe says:

The video is FAKED, along with the purposely editing done to make it seem real. Not only should the makers of the video get charged with inciting a TERRORIST attack, but also the Republicrats who kept pushing the video into the limelight.
