When Trump was running for president he said a lot of really stupid things, and the news media let him get away with it because Trump is a clown, and no one seriously thought he was going to become president. But now he has.
What I see is the news media giving him a pass instead of expecting him to actually be the leader of the free world. Are we going to lower the bar for Trump? Is incompetence the new competence? Is stupid the new smart? Is failure the new success?

The future of America is on the line and watching Trump play president is like watching a 5 year old drive a car off a cliff, And we’re supposed to just sit here and pretend everything’s gonna be all right. Really?! Very sad!

  1. bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

Yeap. Last night news talker said Trump is acting like he is President of the WhiteHouse rather than of the US…leader of the Free World. Evidence on hand was his failure to even allow the staffing of various Federal Departments: “What do they even do?”

The notion that the economy is cleaned up and made more efficient or even productive with fewer regulations……………. is just silly. Lots of very intelligent people do believe that……what is poor Trump to think then?

Societies and go hard right as we are doing now even if Obamacare is left standing as it looks like it will (Even Republicans are subject to “local” politics and their Base…many of whom have no healthcare without Oboma)… and after Trump, perhaphs we can swing back to the Left…but it “unsettles” society…. aka: not a good thing. Its why putting the country/citizens FIRST is the far better policy rather than one’s own personal druthers.

American has been taken hostage……………. stay tuned.

  2. NewFormatSux says:

Trump has made it harder for people to get across the border. One poor guy had promised to deliver drugs, and got injured escaping the Border Patrol. It’s all Trump’s fault! It’s like a year’s salary now to pay the smugglers, and there’s no guarantee you get welfare now to make that back. Those poor drug dealers are looking for work elsewhere now. So stupid of Trump to think this is the way to run a country.

  3. NewFormatSux says:

Obama was the biggest affirmative action baby in history, and now you say stupid is being given a free pass. All the evidence is Obama can’t do basic subject verb agreement.

    • Phydeau says:

Every once in a while a wingnut’s veiled racism comes to the surface. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • ยฑ says:

You didn’t have to post anything for all to know that you would think the post you were responding to is racist. You’re just following the liberal mantra that regardless of truth content, if you don’t like something, it is racist.

  4. NewFormatSux says:

Scott Adams predicted that opposition to Trump would switch from “He’s Hitler” to “He’s incompetent” by the summer. Marc Perkel is on schedule.

    • Josh says:

      Rehab takes time.

    • Marc Perkel says:

I never said he was Hitler. Hitler was far smarter. More like 3 stooges.

      • jpfitz says:

Donald did in fact echo Many of Adolf’s genius style of campaigning and speaking.

Adolf would make the crowds wait and wait, sometimes until the crowd would tremble into a fever pitch, Adolf would stand, silent, looking over the Germans. Then, he’d start softly and slowly speaking, eventually bringing his speech to an exhausting climax and the crowd was in his hands, like putty.
Same with Donald, who’s gonna pay for the wall…And, get em outta here, get em out. Violence was Donald’s food for the hungry downtrodden Americans, who felt betrayed by That Kenyan Muslim that Donald accused of not being a true red white and blue, blooded (like us) American.

Donald flew into towns on his jet and would fly off to do another rally, Adolf had a campaign called Hitler over Germany, Adolf would fly into towns, as many as 5 or more in a day to give rallies. The simple folk were Very impressed seeing a larger then life character land in a flying machine back in 1933, today, the same simple folk would wait and wait for Donald to land in His Big jet. The, wait for his dramatic appearance at the top of the stairs of his big jet emblazoned with the narcissists name, TRUMP.

Adolf loved Wagner, and Donald played Wagner at almost every rally.

I am not calling Donald, Hitler. I am merely pointing out the obvious facts that maybe trumpets are blinded by the pomp and gold, and I don’t judge anyone for being enamored by the Big Show. Humans are predictable when the brain is feed a planned out stimulation, especially in a crowd of people who read and watch the same news in this epoch of left and right and instant info.

Holy shit, sorry for the diatribe. I only meant to say a few words about the poisoning of the well.

    • Phydeau says:

That’s right, NFS, many of us predicted how incompetent he would be once he actually took office, and that has come to pass. Good connection with reality there, if only briefly! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • NewFormatSux says:

The next step is “He’s competent but I don’t like what he is doing.”

  5. Ah_Yea says:

    Typical Liberal elitism.

“If you don’t do what I tell you, you’re an idiot”.

Great, call half the country idiots.

Let’s see, In the last 8 years alone, Dems:
    Lost 1,042 state and federal Democratic posts, including;
Senate seats falling from 55 to 46,
House seats plummeting from 256 seats to 194,
and Governorships careening from 28 to 16.

Best of all, Democratic arrogance got a “Cheeto” elected President.

How SMUG are you feeling now??

  6. McCullough says:

The news media gives Trump a pass? Really?

You must live in an Alternate Universe……………….

  7. Kyle says:

Trump is not a great communicator, thats for sure. That does not make him stupid, anymore than the numerous spelling and grammatical errors in your many blog posts make you stupid.

    We know better.

  8. Mark Raintree says:

And the sad thing is, Trump is far better than Clinton, Sanders, Stein, or Johnson would have been. I voted for Trump and I think his actions are turning into a joke. But it was better than the alternatives.

Forget the Titanic’s deck chairs, how will the US manage its default on its national debt?

Will the US go the way of Weimar or Zimbabwe? Or is it more of a Venezuelan path we shall travel?

I live in very Northern California (8 hours North of San Francisco/Sacramento, they are central, not Northern) and we are interested in seeing if we can finish separating from SoCal/Mexico to become the State of Jefferson, as was originally proposed just before World War 2.

Although it will not allow us to avoid the melt down of the US, it will allow us to start nulling unconstitutional Federal laws as provided for in the 10th (and 9th) amendment(s).

And speaking of war, will the deep state/neocons successfully get us to start lobbing nukes around? It seems to be extremely important to them, maybe they are hoping to address perceived overpopulation by thinning our numbers…

All I can say is I better go make more popcorn, this movie is really entertaining – Shame it is a reality for us to live through…

    • Ah_Yea says:

My View (After many years of observation)

      Trump is far better:

how will the US manage its default:
It won’t, just turn a blind eye till too late.

      more of a Venezuelan path:
Yes. we are already doing that.

      State of Jefferson:
Never will happen, at least not until after the ” melt down of the US”.

      start nulling unconstitutional Federal laws:
Not going to happen. Liberals for years have been working with judges to create case law justifying unconstitutional legislature.

      start lobbing nukes around?:
I don’t think so. Instead of reducing the population, the elites are now focused on creating a class of “neo-slave (my term) so to increase their power and wealth through fewer freedoms and globalism. This has been very successful.
Why would they destroy the neo-slaves they worked so hard to cultivate, when these slaves make them more powerful and wealthy?

I know I’m singing to the choir, this response is for those who are tone deaf.

  9. Phydeau says:

Marc, you’re wasting your time. These wingnuts get their information from Fox “News”, Breitbart, and InfoWars. They get their information from people who say 9-11 was faked and Sandy Hook was a false flag operation. Oh, and Obama was born in Kenya. ๐Ÿ™„

Anything critical of Trump is literally not within their realm of consciousness. For example, Flynn finally admitted that he was an agent of the Turkish government, and clearly told the Trump admin and yet they deny that he told them. They won’t hear this.

It’s like trying to discuss astronomy with someone who insists the sun rises in the west. We can point out information that shows what a disaster Trump is, but it comes from news outlets that they think are lying (i.e every news outlet in the world but Fox, Breitbart and InfoWars).

The only thing that will affect them is a cold smack in the face by reality. Like if they lose their job in a recession. Or lose their spouse because their Obamacare was canceled and they lost their medical care.

Kinda like how they worshiped Dubya until reality set in.

They’re happy as pigs in shit now. Reality hasn’t hit them yet.

      • jpfitz, Wecome to My Nightmare says:

Thom, wow. From what I just read you’re the one on the verge of killing oneself. Much hyperbole leading to a death spiral. So much hate, so much nonsence and a final decision to move forward with death of America and anyone who is different.

If I prayed I’d pray for you.

    • NewFormatSux says:

9/11 was an inside job is mostly found on the Left. Van Jones, Rosie ODonnell, etc. It mostly falls apart when
“Bush must be an evil genius to have orchestrated this.”
Truther “—–Bush is not a genius.”

    • NewFormatSux says:

      > These wingnuts get their information from

  10. Mike l says:

This presidency is right out of the movie “Idiocracy”

    • jpfitz says:

That’s the short term problem. The future of stupid can only grow with the murder of reality.

  11. bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

I like the idea that T.Rump is “far” better as president than Sanders would have been.

The layers of stupidity are quite deplorable.

  12. Dummy Up says:

What – EXACTLY – has Trump DONE?!

Trump says a lot of stupid things. I don’t think very many people would argue that. Personally, I think someone needs to take away his smart phone or at least ban his Twitter account. But so far as I can tell, Donald Trump has NOT DONE much of anything that amounts to a hill of beans. …yet.

Then again, the same COULD have been said of Barack H. Obama with possibly the only exception being his Obamacare legacy which has not yet reached it’s full nightmarish effect. (That is, unless you also consider Obama’s massive increase in spying, escalating of wars and near complete incompetency in foreign matters.) Other than Obama meddling with health care, you could say that Mr. Obama was a do-nothing-President just like Donald Trump is likely going to be, though without the stupid comments.

It’s all bullshit! And you’re playing right into their scheme of keeping him in the limelight. In case you’re (also) an idiot, Trump’s strategy seems to be: whatever it takes to keep him in the spotlight — and YOU’RE GIVING it to him!

Seriously! When it comes to stupid ass shit Trump says, STFU! We know he’s a egotistical prima donna of the first magnitude. One only has to watch reruns of his show, The Apprentice to know that.

  13. jpfitz says:

Most here are either Donald apologists or lovers. I Had a higher opinion of visitors here on DU, but not anymore.

I promise, this administration Will run off the tracks. There are too many there’s there to last.

    • bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

Ha, ha…. jp: when did you start paying attention? Been all too obvious, for all too long. The subject material?

Its good to know what drives the various political interests in the country. What turns them on and off. In my little enclave, the only Trump supporters are the gun nuts at the end of the block. No one talks to them, so DU is my only source besides Watters World.

Always a hoot. Ha, ha: “Trums is by FAR the best president….” I mean, you can’t find comedy gold like that anywhere else……. I’ve never visited Breitbart.

TRUMP MUST SHOW HIS: a: Birth Certificate.
      b. Income Tax Return.

      You choose.

      • jpfitz says:

The fact that all my neighbours, one a high ranking police officer have all removed their American flags after Obama left office says a lot. I live in a republican town with high taxes.

All here who are drinking Trump’s cool-aid Must reside on the other side of the tracks. Let’s see Donalds tax returns. Fucking NOW.
If not then, he has been up to no good.

  14. jpfitz says:

Yes, Donald Is kinda stupid along with the rednecks with no teeth down in West VA who are popping opiates like candy. Donald’s vocabulary is on par with a 6th graders. Sorry, but i have been listening.

    • NewFormatSux says:

So Donald’s language would have been great for the people who he is trying to get to vote for him. Sounds smart to me.

  15. bobbo, we think with words and flower with ideas says:

Mr Perkel: it catches me each time I read it. The best headline ever. You didn’t need to post anything other.

    For indeed, its true.

    …………………………… only stupid people.

From the “man in the street” interviews I’ve seen, seems most of the supporters like his “America First” policy which is actually just confused jingoistic racism aimed at foreigners: like banning Muslims from countries that have never sent a terrorist. (Sarc on)==>highly effective action like that that can’t even get by a restraining order.

He actually doesn’t even perform, for what he is given credit.

Just ………………….. LOOK! Just plain silly.

    • Hmeyers says:

All of us are stupid. We are human.

By thinking you are smarter, you are just Trumpian style doubling down on your own stupidity.

Stupidity is a perpetual human risk that affects us all.

To fight it off, you have to be humble.

      • bobbo, we are devo says:

HM: you live in a very false bi-polar appreciation of a much more complex world.

Merely agreeing that Trump supporters are stupid really doesn’t say anything about what I think of myself.

        I mean: really.

    • Hmeyers says:

A related note: here is a disgusting paragraph I read:

“Wrong. Even though the U.S. Has never been all in on green energy the way Europe has, the Department of Energy reports that America has reduced its carbon emissions more than the EU has because we are producing and consuming more clean burning natural gas.”

The above asshat is insisting natural gas has lower carbon emissions because it burns cleanly.

The product of burning natural gas is CO2 and water. Whether or not it burns cleanly has nothing to do with carbon emissions, all of it converts to carbon dioxide upon burning.

Furthermore, the gas came from underground. Which means introducing sequestered carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

So for the above article ^^^ if that one paragraph has 2 big scientific flaws, it immediately throws the legitimacy of the rest of the article into question.

The example of the shit scientific article above, and where there is smoke there is fire and I bet the statistics are dodgy too — is why I can’t trust anything I read.

      It’s garbage lies everywhere.

      • bobbo, we are devo says:

Without reading the link: natural gas produces less co2 pollution per thermal unit produced. So…with all green energy sources being used to the max, the burning of fossil fuels to produce thermal units must fill in the balance………and net net evidently USA has reduced its carbon footprint more than Europe.

Most likely because we were horrible carbon pigs to begin with.

Easy. May your trust in science be restored by your recognition of your ignorance thereof……….and no, I still am not making any statement regarding my own knowledge base.

Each issue stands on its own.

        Easy……………dare I add: peasy.

        • IM78 says:

There is no such word as peasy. So other than using it to have a ‘word’ that rhymes, why do you use it, Bobbo?

          • bobbo, Pedro is devo says:

“easy-peasy”: informal, very easy, of Brit origin.

            …………..yeah, I know.

          • bobbo, Pedro is devo says:

Damn!!! Should have added: “I know…. you love Trump.”

Hate it when I miss the easy peasy ones.

          • bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

IM: if you ever recognize and survive the trauma….. it might be of interest to you to note what happened above.

You came across a “new” word, and even though you know google is at your fingertips, rather than search for it, you just assume its wrong.

I’ll wager that is not for simple words alone.

Its the construct of the conservative mind set.

            ……………………Mind the gap.

          • NewFormatSux says:

            >know google is at your fingertips, rather than search for it, you just assume its wrong.

            Oh my…

      • NewFormatSux says:

HMeyers, natural gas produces less CO2 than coal. It is how all these places can claim substantial reductions in CO2 that in reality still leave you with needing more an 80% cut according to the models. The advocates treat it as a linear solution, we’ve cut 20%, so cutting 90 will be easy, but the switch from coal to gas is much easier than the rest.

    • NewFormatSux says:

I hear Trump came up with the Muslim ban by reading your posts arguing for it.

Complaining about these countries never sent a terrorist, it’s not a good reason to let them in and show otherwise.

  16. NewFormatSux says:

Driving a car off a cliff is what the Democrats were doing under Obama and promising more of the same under Hillary. Right now Chuck Schumer is threatening to shut down the government over the wall. It will be hilarious to see Trump build this wall, and then Democrats in the primaries will be pledging to tear it down.

    • bobbo, Pedro is devo says:

      Silly partisan drivel.

      • Mac says:

You should know, you are the master of partisan drivel.

        • bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

name anything I’ve said that is partisan.

Go ahead. Made it easier as not requiring the drivel.

You see….. the application of truth, morals, specified societal goals regardless of how the cookie crumbles: is NOT partisan. Its just the way it is.

          Hence, the liberal bias.

          • Mac says:

Your very clear about your Dem partisanship. Any other conclusion is based in denial.

          • bobbo, the truth has a liberal bias says:

Your failure to give any example at all shows how completely vapid your values are: not but a yapping dog.

            Really quite silly.

Try again…….. or stfu…… please. And: STOP VOTING. Its your kind of partisan BS that is ruining American.

so…. prove me wrong…. just name one.

          • NewFormatSux says:

Attacking Trump’s Muslim ban with liberal talking points when you have advocated for a Muslim ban yourself.

          • bobbo, Pedro is the BS I write says:

NFS: in broadstrokes, that sounds like it would be a partisan attack. so …. well done.

But…I’m against T.Rumps Muslim ban because it is so hamfisted, it won’t get by judicial review….. and even if it does via the Supremes, its only 6 countries. What about all the rest?

So………good on you….. you almost got there but you highlight why I’m not a partisan, known by everyone here who can actually pay attention: I’m against “everyone.” Partisan “for the people” just doesn’t count.

But you did come close at least hitting the form of a correct answer. Please try again……….its a good check of my own opinion/performance.

    • Ah_Yea says:
