The outfit in question

What is happening with the transportation business these days? Not long ago a woman was thrown off a bus because her cleavage was distracting the driver. Now a woman was thrown off a plane because her outfit was inappropriate.

Thrown off plane for outfit deemed too skimpy – msnbc.com: It doesn’t take much to get thrown off an airplane these days, as Kyla Ebbert found out when a Southwest Airlines employee told her she was too bare for the air. Two months later, she’s still trying to figure out what was wrong with her outfit.

A Southwest employee identified only as “Keith” approached Ebbert after she had taken her seat on the plane.
He asked her to step off of the plane and when they were in the jetway, he told her that her clothing was inappropriate and asked her to change her clothes.
“He told me, ‘I’m sorry, but you’re going to have to take a later flight. You’re dressed inappropriately. This is a family airline. You’re dressed too provocative to fly on this flight,’ ” she told Lauer.

A Southwest agent said: “We don’t have a problem with it if she’s covered up in all the right spots. We don’t have a dress code.”

Maybe one of these days they will put a sign that says ‘No shoes, no shirt, no way in hell you get on the plane’. I guess Southwest should change their motto to ‘Come fly the prudish skies’. Am I the only one who thinks she’s overdressed? ;)

Update:

Ho

Next time wear a bikini!

Now another attention seeking woman comes forward, indicating that she had been forced to cover herself by Southwest personnel. Will the narcissism ever end???

Second Flier’s Sexy Outfit Comes Under Fire – nbc10.com: Setara Qassim said she was flying home to Burbank, Calif., from Las Vegas in June when a Southwest Airlines flight attendant gave her a blanket and told her to cover up.
“The flight attendant came up to me and asked me if I had a sweater, and I said, ‘No, because why would I pack a sweater in the heat?'” Qassim said. “So I asked her why, and she said I needed to cover up.”

You can also see and video of about this here.

  1. Mister Mustard says:

    >>Some said that this woman wasn’t wearing any panties.

I must have missed that. The only person I recall actually suggesting the woman had a panty-free wardrobe was you. “Some” could “say” she was defecating and urinating all over the seat too, but that doesn’t mean the allegation has any credibility.

So far, there have been no legitimate allegations, either by fashionista/ airline hack “Keith” or by anyone with any first-hand knowledge of the situation, that the girl was guilty of anything worse than wearing a mini-skirt.

And anyone who thinks that top exposes “too much cleavage”; whew. I just hope they’re not paying attention to the aspiring first ladies or Hillary in the pre-election campaign season.

    #61, Jill, (sic)
Miss Qassim said she was wearing panties. There is no reason to think otherwise UNLESS you can cite another source contradicting her. Please, get your facts straight next time.

TIHZ responded quite well in #62.

  3. NappyHeadedHo says:

I hate when my groin gets pixelated!

  4. TIHZ_HO says:

What would happen if someone wanted to breast feed their child? Hmmm?

And Americans believe other countries want to copy the US……right.

    Cheers

  5. Dorksters says:

    Jill,

I don’t see how thin cotton underwear is going to protect anything from someone’s bodily fluids after 3 hours of sitting on a seat. Jeans maybe; “Depends” definitely.

Otherwise, cotton condoms would be offered (?).

I would guess you think sex is icky.

    That is your prerogative.

  6. jill says:

    that’s fair Mr. Fusion.

It’s no excuse but, unfortunately, opinions based solely on fact are a pretty ambitious standard to uphold all the time. Imagine if they were, the war in Iraq would have never started, Wikipedia would be ruined, pundits would be out of work, the Bill O’Reilly’s, and Ann Coulter’s would wallow in obscurity, there’d be fewer blogs, and comments sections etc. etc. but there would be credibility. We could trust the things we read. I actually like that vision. Doesn’t mean it’ll necessarily happen.

The blonde is Ms. Ebbert. Ms. Qassim is the brunette. I was unfamiliar with her, but her dress is longer than the skirt. As long as they cover their “privates” in public, everything else it’s a matter of personal choice and comfort level. My vote for best response goes to Mister Mustard’s last paragraph in #53

And yes those other things TIHZ_HO mentioned are gross too. Think of what those girls could be picking up? Do they not care? I’m so getting a haz-mat suit.

To answer your question Dorksters, no, it’s not icky because I choose the guy I’m with. If I am absorbing ANY type of body fluid from anyone else in the general public, the very least they could do is buy me dinner or a couple of drinks first.

The next update you see will probably be me thrown off a plane for wearing my haz-mat suit. I’ll be sure to remember to cross my legs for my tv interviews if they don’t send me to gitmo first.
