Google Founded By Sergey Brin, Larry Page… And Hubert Chang?!? — Google — InformationWeek

History is written by those with enforceable ownership rights, but those who were sidelined often claim a footnote. The Beatles had Pete Best. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg had ConnectU founders Divya Narendra, Cameron Winklevoss, and Tyler Winklevoss.

And now, just in time for Google (NSDQ: GOOG)’s tenth anniversary, Hubert (Hung Hsien) Chang would like to be added to the list of Google founders, a club that until now has consisted of Sergey Brin and Larry Page.

“Google was designed by Larry, Sergey, and me in February 1997,” Chang claims in an online video.

He who hesitates is lost. Where was this guy during the stock offering? Under a rock?

what the hell is wrong with this blog. If I follow a link from google reader or iGoogle homepage, the content is missing. (Windows, Firefox, btw)

Anyone listening? Hello? You’ve been told this before. Fix it now, dammit.

  2. ikelleigh says:

When viewing some pages of this site, all I see are blank entries and blank comments (Firefox). If I hit IE Tab I can see it fine. What’s going on?

  3. john says:

    Yes, fix your blog!!

  4. jccalhoun says:

Is it intentional irony that his video claiming he owns Google has been posted on Youtube (which is owned by Google)?

  5. James Hill says:

Is there any information out there to back this up?

  6. Jägermeister says:

We can only speculate, so let’s hear what Sergey and Larry has to say about this.

  7. chuck says:

There’s a clear scientific consensus that Al Gore invented the Interwebs (and therefore everything on the Interwebs).

So Al Gore also invented Google. And he’s still waiting for his dividend cheque!!

  8. wiglebot says:

Cool, I believe him — good for him. But Who cares and so what. He does not deserve anything.

Academics is always collaborating on projects where people spin off companies. Some people quit school and pile in, some don’t.

If Google was a bust, would he even remember those guys.

  9. Ah_Yea says:

So where has this guy been hiding for the last 10 years!

He could have invented GOD for all the good it will do him. Sitting on this for 10 years is tantamount to an admission of releasing any and all claims.

    Good luck to him.

  10. Nimby says:

Watching the video, I kept wondering when the police cruiser would run him down…

  11. George says:

This is either B.S. or he is incredibly naive. I know that in the biomedical research field, they pass out paper co-authorships like candy. Being first or second co-author means something, but those on down the list are usually given co-authorship as a means of thanks for the assistance. I’m surprised he didn’t take third co-author, as most academic-types live to be published.

The fact is that third co-author doesn’t mean much. Even if he had agreed to it, it wouldn’t have kept him from getting his PhD, and it wouldn’t have let on the Google money train.

This guy just had an idea that he shared, and turned down being acknowledged for it. Nothing more, nothing less.

  12. sadtruth says:

I mean seriously, we’ll still have to load your page and look at the damn banners.

It used to be I could follow the link from RSS and subsequently click the header to load the content, but now that doesn’t even work. No post content…no gross comments by Angel Wong… No funny flamings from bobbo, james hill et al…. Please fix it.
