And they’re not even trying to hide it – the front of the package states that the product that is a “choking hazard”, and CONTAINS LEAD! which is “known to the state of California to cause birth defects.”

My favorite was Johnny Flame On (bag of oily rags, and a zippo lighter).
I was hired as a face painter at a street fair once. I was fired after a few hours, all I had was a can of brown spray paint.
Well, it appears to be made specifically for the CA market.

I held one of those in my hands this morning. I work at a Wal-Mart in Ohio.
It only has 100 times the allowed amount of lead. Now if it had 10,000 times the amount allowed, the EPA might pull it off the shelves, as long as China doesn’t get offended.
100 time? I doubt it. It probably contains a negligible amount of lead but Calif laws require that kind of warning on just about anything with even the slightest quantity of what they think is an offending element. They have those same kind of warnings posted in bars here but nobody’s leaving because of them. Hell most any retail store has that kind of warning posted at the door. Nanny state!

Tons of money to be made in permitting and disposal of hazardous waste. Or maybe California rats aren’t as hardy as others in animal testing.
Of course this is nothing compared to the fees involved in permitting and offset of carbon footprints and credits.
I’ve seen the same warning on computer wiring. I wouldn’t eat it but I suspect that California has a very low tolerance. Most likely much lower than the Feds allow.
You couldn’t sell my lawn mower there either.
As I understand it, the State of California requires a bag of sand to be labeled as a potential carcinogen, because silica dust might cause cancer in miners. Not that I’ve seen a bag of sand labeled thus.
it is for kids! kids do not give birth yet ! it will eventually evaporate from their body or they get resistant to it…
I stuck them in my mouth to get them wet assuming they were safe since they were sold at Walmart.
