Harding
Harding, considered the most handsome President, a playboy perhaps, believed to have been murdered by his wife while staying in an SF hotel, while President.

Freaky Secrets of the Presidency

President Garfield could write in Latin with one hand and in Greek with the other… simultaneously!

Compare that to George W. Bush.

And have you ever heard of President John Hanson or President David Rice Atchison?

  3. Sigh. You know that saying that you shouldn’t believe everything you read on the Internet? Apply it here. That link is riddled with historical errors, trivializations and outright fairy tales, like Tecumseh’s Curse and Presidental Prophetic Visions and hemp historical revisionisms.

Taking on JUST the first one, John Hanson was not a head of state, he was merely a presiding officer of the Congress, and even so, he was NOT the first, as Samuel Huntington (March 1, 1781 to July 6, 1781) was the first to hold the title when the Articles of Confederation were ratified. Next being Samuel Johnson who turned the position down, and then Thomas McKean (July 10, 1781 to November 5, 1781) , making Hanson the third. And even still, the first President of the Continental Congress of the United Colonies of America was Peyton Randolph and the first President of the Continental Congress of the United States of America was John Hancock. Hence it all depends upon how you define the term “President” and the “United States (or Colonies) of America”, if under the Confederated States, the Articles of Confederation or the Constitution and when you define the birth of America, 1775, 1779, 1781 or 1787.

You can “make the case” for either Peyton Randolph (Continental Congress United Colonies of America), John Hancock (Continental Congress United States of America), Samuel Huntington (Presidents of the United States In Congress Assembled) or George Washington (United States Constitution of 1787) depending upon how you play the field. But Hanson, was not first of anything.
