Im sorry to say that I know for sure 100% that USAFIS is a scam company, just trust me.
The ONLY way you can get your money back is by cancelling the payment through the Credit card company.
Otherwise, the only good tip I can give you is:
1.) Never *e v e r* give out your credit card number over the phone, no matter how nice the person on line is.
2.)And the only way to actually get a green card is through the American State Department.

USAFIS is no doubt a SCAM.I managed to get a number that supposedly belongs to them(0012127104290).When you call this number a dogdy lady who supposedly is the USAFIS organisation’s reception answers and quickly asks you to leave your name and number so you could be called back.However,when you enquire how soon you should expect the call,she gets aggressive and tells you she has no information.Even when you ask her what time the people who are to call you back start work at,she tells you she doesn’t have that information.
As well I have received several calls from pushy people who are so quick when it comes to convincing someone to shed their credit cards of hard-earned cash.

I have registered with usafis for 2008 DV lottery. They have sent me a wining notification and visa application instructions. I lodged the application to KCC as they instructed. They did not charge any money from me except the 55$ I initially paid. I dout the fact that this is a scam.

You’ve probably been fooled by USAFIS. I say this because they are not authorized to send any winning notices. The notices are sent to the winners directly from the US Department of State with an official letter where they (the Department of State) give the winners an ID number and complete instructions to contact the American Consulate nearest you.
Don’t trust USAFIS or any other similar outfit that promises that through them you can win a green card. Most of them after receiving your payment don’t even care to send your application to the Department of State. The only way to be sure that your apllication reaches the point where it should go, is to do it directly with the US Department of State (www.dvlottery.state.gov). Try it, it’s easy and besides, the service is free of charge.
