Newspaperindex | Best online newspapers in all countries — Getting sick of mediocre news coverage? Here’s a guy who has isolated what he believes to be the best online news sources in the world. Good reference site.
I collect and maintain links only to newspapers and publications containing local, free and independent news from each country in the world. You will not find links to online media sites that solely grab information, reports and content from other sources. The database does not have newspapers that focus on gossip, rumour, local or sport news. I only include websites with free public access that have a local editorial staff of independent journalists and in most cases a print version as well.
Another important thing is that I only accept broadcast sites and online media that are daily updated.
This project is not about collecting links. It is about finding, selecting and evaluating quality news sites and presenting the best online sources with quality journalism for your worldwide research.
USA Today is considered one of the US’s best newspapers? The San Francisco Chronicle? What a joke. Very noticeably missing is the Wall Street Journal.
The picture of the Orange County Register here has nothing to do with the list…which is a collection of the leftiest rags in the country.
Riddle:
Q: Why is reading a German newspaper on-line more interesting than listening to a German internet radio pop music station?
A: Because the German newspaper is not in English….

Addendum: Isn’t it nice not having to “register” to gain access to these overseas publications?
Rallenr, Aren’t newspapers leftist by definition? That’s what ALL the right-wingers have been saying. So your comment is redundant.
http://www.wsj.com is on the list now…
Thanks John!
No, John. The very Republican Chicago Tribune comes to mind. And my home county paper (the one you pictured), the Orange County Register is decidedly Libertarian.
Outside of print media, no one’s going to accuse Fox News of being left leaning.
