Eric Pfeiffer on George Felos on National Review Online — Well, you may think this is nutty BUT I can top it with John Walker’s RetroPsychoKinesis Project (below).
In his 2002 book Litigation as Spiritual Practice, Felos expresses his belief in the “cosmic law of cause and effect,” in which the human mind is not limited by the constraints of reality. More specifically, if one wants a new car, one could make this dream car manifest “out of the ether.”
Felos claims to have used his mental powers to cause a plane he was passenger on to nearly crash. By simply asking himself, “I wonder what it would be like to die right now?” the plane’s autopilot program mysteriously ceased to function and the plane descended into free fall. Felos then observed, “At that instant a clear, distinctly independent and slightly stern voice said to me, ‘Be careful what you think. You are more powerful than you realize.’ In quick succession I was startled, humbled and blessed by God’s admonishment.”
Now compare that to the RetroPsychoKinesis Project linked here.
Retropsychokinesis is the claimed ability of certain subjects to alter random data generated, but not examined, prior to the time the data are presented to the subject. Crazy, you say! Well, there’s certainly no mechanism in mainstream physics which could permit such an effect, yet experiments conducted by a number of different researchers over the last 20 years suggest, compellingly according to some analyses, that the probability of the results obtained in such experiments being purely the result of chance is sufficiently low that they would be considered evidence of a causal mechanism in most scientific disciplines

I don’t know if you already talked about this one, but if not have a look at the Global Consciousness Project at http://noosphere.princeton.edu/. These guys have random number generators scattered all over the world and claim global events like Sept. 11th and the death of Princess Diana coincide with trends in the supposedly random numbers that are generated! Nobody has an explanation for this, really! It will be extremely interesting to look at the data generated by the present situation regarding the Popr John Paul II!
Yes..wackier still! I’ll read this over and do a bigger post later. Thanks
A quick check of the Global Consciousness Project has baffled me. It appears to me that the correlation comes after the fact. The graphs were poorly explained and didn’t show any noticeable deviation to my old eyes.
If I can remember my Statistics class, a random number is unrelated to any event, is two dimensional, and is limited only by the extreme limits of the population. If these guys are finding a relationship, then can these still be random numbers?
Darn, I hate it when others are so much smarter then I.
