PhysOrg: Toshiba’s ‘NanoBattery’ Recharges In Only One Minute — We’ll see.

Toshiba Corporation today announced a breakthrough in lithium-ion batteries that makes long recharge times a thing of the past. The company’s new battery can recharge 80% of a battery’s energy capacity in only one minute, approximately 60 times faster than the typical lithium-ion batteries in wide use today, and combines this fast recharge time with performance-boosting improvements in energy density.

I regularly visit the developing world and its dawning on me that the power-grid has probably gone as far as it is going-to.

Witht he price of oil SURELY going up, this alone is going to doom it for many users.

I think the answer is solar panels and a battery for light and fans (if needed). Solar water panels for hot water (if needed) and bottled LPG for cooking.

Excpet for the super-efficient fans, it seems like all of these are here now. Tube lights and (especially) the new LEDs can run for HOURS on a car battery.

One big problem are the lead batteries. It seems like high-capacity lith-ion would be better for the enviornment.

Wind turbines. They can’t replace thermal generation, but they may add sufficiently enough to save big time.

    From Raptureready:
Because the Bible tells us the Antichrist will someday achieve total control over the global economy, technological advancements are a necessary factor in his rise to power. The development of the microprocessor is one of the most amazing timelines you can observe. I’ve compiled a list of the significant milestones Intel Corporation, the world’s largest producer of microprocessors, achieved from 1972 to the present day. If you’re like me, you may not understand what difference between the speed of a Megahertz (MHz) and a Gigahertz (GHz) represents. All you really need to know is speed comparison. Basic math will tell you 200 MHz is ten times the speed of 20 MHz, and 1 GHz is simply equally to 1000 MHz.

    The timeline is here http://www.raptureready.com/rap31d.html

Speed kills, I guess. Slow it down just a little. What’s the hurry?
