Etymology of First Names

Research site to bookmark.

  1. It’s nice to have this web site , but it has a way to go. Ifor example, i’s missing “Elisha” (both male and female) and Ezra. For Tobias/Toby, it’s lacking the common female Toby/Tobe that is derived from German or Yiddish Taube (dove). Etc. Etc, Etc.

    Great site !!! Bookmarked.

Before our daughter was born 5 1/2 years ago, my wife and I searched several on-line “first name” sites.

What I loved about this site was the page on oxymora (plural of oxymoron) As well, there are homonyms, word & phrase origins, plus many other catagories.

    Well documented and presented.

Two thumbs up to the web site and a bonus to whoever found it and brought it to the site admin’s attention.
