Does anyone find these “Wake Up with the King” and other Burger King commericials disturbing if not plain creepy? I mean this zombie-like freak looking at you is enough to make anyone cringe.

  1. Rick Pali says:

Definitely disturbing, but that’s exactly why I like it. Not another cuddly mascot or perfect model spokesperson. It’s weird, disturbing, and funny.

  2. Michelle Dyson says:

Took the words out of my mouth. Absolutely gives one the willies. The heebie jeebies. If they decide to do “Scary Movie 4” (or whatever number it’s up to now), it seems like this would be a required scene.

ps: Where can I buy the poster of “revenge of the 50 foot PR woman”?

  3. Tim Musselman says:

I’ve often wondered who decided that was a good idea for a commercial. I think its a lock for the next Scream movie.

  4. I can think of a zillion other people I would rather wake up to than that silly looking smuck!

  5. Sound the alarm says:

Looks like a priest just before he molests a child. oy

  6. gyro says:

Who eats breakfast at Burger King??

  7. K B says:

No it hasn’t bothered me, because I hadn’t seen it. But now I’m bothered. Thanks a lot, John…. [I feel like I am living in the walnut episode of the Dick Van Dyke show, trying to get back to my little bed so I will wake up and not have to eat walnuts.]

  8. Brenda Helverson says:

    Induces nightmares in small children.

  9. Rob Barac says:

    I LOOOOVE THESE COMMERCIALS ! ! !

I laugh each and everytime I see one. I love the fact that for an inanimate face, the king can show so many emotions. Jest, anger, temptation and love.

There is nothing the king can’t do….

  10. Ima Fish says:

One has to wonder why the second largest fast food chain in the US has such crappy ads. Heck, even Carl Jr/Hardees got Hilton to create soft porn, er, I mean an ad. (I personally thought the tag line in those ads should have been, “Get your hard on at Hardees!”)

Isn’t the second supposed to try harder? It’s almost as if BK wants to remain in 2nd place.

  11. Kathy P says:

That was my first thought, too – who’d wanna wake up next to this guy? Even if he does bring breakfast?

  12. mwb says:

Yes. I’ve been thinking this for a while. Have you seen the one where the King and Darth Vader face. They just stare at each other – breathing.

Let’s face it the King is creepier than anything in the last three SW movies.

  13. Richard Rollo says:

This looks like an attempt to borrow the Travelocity roaming gnome idea without the inspired sense of humor. The only fast food ads that weren’t duds were by Jack in the Box with Jack driving the convertible.

  14. John says:

I think the best is the guy;s reaction. He’s a luittle puzzled, but he gets a sammich. If I had to pick what my initial reaction would be, 911 would probably be a part of it.

  15. Capeche says:

Yes, and apparently he’s best buddies with Darth Vader. If you visit this site:

    http://sithsense.com/flash.htm

Then you’ll see what I mean (if of course you play the 20 questions game with the Dark Lord of the Sith).

  16. Teyecoon says:

Hell yeah! I was shocked the first time I’d seen that commercial. I can’t believe the BK company accepted/allowed that commercial to air. The “King” has the presence of a stalker/molester/pervert. I think both the BK decision maker and the ad agency should be fired for the “damage” caused by this ad. Of course, this is only one of many bad commercials on TV now but it epitomizes the pathetic lacking in the ad industry.

PS. It couldn’t of done much good for “Hootie’s” career either with that horrible jingle.

  17. Mike Cannalli says:

    Personally, I prefer Paris Hilton

  18. Not only do I find it creepy, it’s the only TV ad I’ve found truly creepy in years. Since there’s nothing that obviously unsettling about it, I’d assumed it was just me.

  19. fortune says:

Something about that plastered smile is weirdly sinister. The image reminds me of something out of a strange dream, one that you might wake up from in a sweat. Yuck!

  20. Shawn says:

Scares the hell out of me!!!!

  21. Frodo T Baggins says:

You Cant tell me that not a single one of you laughed when the king returned a Drew Bledsoe INT for a TD in front of thousands of screaming Ravens Fans

  22. disturbed says:

these commercials are very creepy and i totally agree with you
