Laporte: Suddenly serious
For those of you who listen to the Twit podcast you have to know that LeoLaporte has totally fallen in love with a custom mic (shown above) sent to him by microphone guru Bob Heil. Heil also sent the show a bunch of good sounding normal looking microphones. Leo actually takes this microphone to bed with him. Heil is quite a character and specializes in dynamic mics rather than condensers.

I hear they’re doing a revival of “Laugh-In” Maybe Leo could have the part of Gary Owens. Or maybe Morgol the friendly drelb.
Well all I can say is that the sound quality was GREAT on TWIT 33. The stereo wasa great and made it easier to make each of you out.
It only made it easier because they were talking all over each other. I didn’t like the stereo because I only use 1 earbud while walking around so I can hear people warning me to look out for forklifts, etc. 🙂
It’s about 14:59 with the Podcasing fad.
Shows like TwiT will live on because of the fan base, but most are headed for the graveyard.
To this, I say good: The heard needs to thin itself.

I *heart* TWiT. Believe it or not, TWiT got me through a rough break-up…as did X-play…and that voodoo doll of my ex. Can’t forget that!

I see the Podcasts of today much like radio and TV in their early days. Some of it will die off (a good thing), but a lot of it will develop and mature into various degrees of quality (an even better thing).

TWiT is great, you guys keep it up, and with the good mics we can even understand what you’re saying when you’re all talking at the same time!
As for podcasts being a fad, I don’t think so, but this may be the golden age. In a few years it may all be commercial – I hope not ALL – so let’s enjoy while it lasts.
