What? Me Worry?

AP: U.S. Teen Runs Off to Iraq by Himself – Yahoo! News — I suppose this is possibly a real story, but come on! Sounds like a publicity stunt of some sort. Far too orchstrated. Still, it’s worth reading.

BAGHDAD, Iraq – Maybe it was the time the taxi dumped him at the
Iraq-Kuwait border, leaving him alone in the middle of the desert. Or when he drew a crowd at a Baghdad food stand after using an Arabic phrase book to order. Or the moment a Kuwaiti cab driver almost punched him in the face when he balked at the $100 fare.

But at some point, Farris Hassan, a 16-year-old from Florida, realized that traveling to Iraq by himself was not the safest thing he could have done with his Christmas vacation.

And he didn’t even tell his parents.

Here are a bunch of articles that tell the story more in depth.

And btw, he got there by buying an airline ticket. Big friggin’ deal. I had a friend in the 80s who’d get to ridiculous places in the Caribbean, including Cuba, by stowing away on cargo ships. Any moron can spend his parents money and buy a ticket. Why is this a story?!

I don’t believe his parents did not know, the story does not add up. if they knew they are risking his life unnecessarily.
Being there he did not do much, where are the interviews and real life experience, specially that he lived in the fortefied Green Zone
