A Shanghai-based company has produced what it claims to be the world’s first chip that offers a video karaoke experience via mobile phones.
The so-called C626 chip features a complete audio platform for the recording and playback of voice and music, said the producer, Chipnuts Technology Inc, a 2-year-old company founded by three Chinese engineers.
Devices using the chip will be able to handle MPEG 4, MP3 and MIDI formats along with video karaoke playback.
Chipnuts has been producing 200,000 chips a month since the C626 was launched in March this year, said Hu Xiang, the firm’s chairman and chief executive officer.
I can hardly wait for this to hit the highway. I’ll be able to sit at a red light next to some idiot singing along with Janet Jackson on his cell phone.
Damn, what a picture. I’ve got to run out and get me one of those phones.

Oh my. That sounds like the end of the world is nigh.
I always thought you had to be drunk to sing karaoke.
I’ve been enjoying your blog for a while but have been annoyed at the surge of use of objectification of women. Its more that there is an assumption that the information needs to be padded so that I would be enticed to read it. I don’t care too much for the tone of the comments either. Its just annoying. Give me analysis over commentary.
Keep the karaoke chip, I’m patenting the human bra.
Prototype is ready.
I remember when that album came out.
I went to a friend’s house, a few months later, and he had one of the “life-size” store displays in his living room, next to his stereo [single guys can do that…]
It had a way of drawing ones eyes to it… 🙂
Tadashi I believe that these tech blogs have all but given up in attracting a female audience. You might as well pander a bit to your audience. I get the feeling that John is trying to attract a bit older and sophisticated audience than most. I can no longer even read a blog that has post after post of how, “hot”, she is or has every other sentence ending in, “ever”. Then again I’m an old fart.
The post was cool (I think) but the picture was aaaahsssommmee! And to hell with the naysayers, keep dressing the posts with undressed women.
My kind of literary things.
I have no worries with the picture….It just makes me think twice before opening the Bolg at work … people get the wrong idea!
