There’s an email going around the web these days about how politicians like GW Bush, Condi Rice, Dick Cheney, Dennis Hastert and others were born nine months after the infamous Roswell flying saucer crash on July 8, 1947. The implication being that if they were hybrid human/alien, that this would explain much about the things they do.

Unfortunately, this analysis falls apart quite easily when one looks up their birthdays. The closest any are to this is our current prez who was born a year and two days before Roswell. Not that we’re saying that means anything…

This did get your intrepid pseudo-reporter thinking. Of course, if you believe the military’s story, it was a weather balloon. There are a number of people who were present who have stated over the years how that thesis has more holes than the balloon would have had. The most likely non-conspiracy story is it was an experimental plane that crashed and the military needed to cover that up.

But suppose it was an alien craft. Suppose the aliens were here looking to score a little Earth tail. Who was born in March or April, 1948, nine months after the crash? Could there have been a connection? Let’s see who we have:

Jimmy Cliff (singer)
Jan Hammer (Miami Vice TV theme song)
Steven Tyler (Aerosmith front man)
Al Gore (former Senator and VP)

Whoa! Steven Tyler, that I could believe, but Al Gore??? March 31, 1948. Cripes! That was unexpected. I mean just because he’s on a crusade to save the planet doesn’t mean he’s from another one. Does it? Was Bush’s “win” over Gore really a battle between worlds? Given the quality of governance we’ve had over the last few years, would we really have been worse off with a half-alien as president? Perhaps this email was on to something, only with the wrong people! What do you think?

    Daer Dave,
I knew you could get a giggle if you wanted…
Want me to send you more comics??

  3. Frank IBC says:

    Heh… great article, Uncle Dave.

Very “even-handed”… hopefully this is the beginning of a trend 😛

In a funny way this points to what I think is a real factor in today’s politics: that the baby boomers are in charge now.

The reason politics is so childish and partisan is that baby boomers are spoiled brats who aren’t used to compromising and are accustomed to always getting their way. Compare any pre-boomer politician to a boomer one (esp., Bush Senior to Dubya) and the pattern usually holds.

As a boomer, I can attest to these qualities in myself and most people I deal with. The only exceptions seem to be people who were born into poorer circumstances. I especially see this in contrast to my father, who was born in 1921 — he simply had a more reasonable and modest temperament.

Don’t be surprised… this might get a following… after all, there are plenty of people who accept the tale of an angel knocking up a woman in Palestine some 2010+-some years ago.

  6. Ballenger says:

If there’s any true to this, we need to get SETI to forward an e-mail asking them to come and pick up the kids. Sorry Al, Steven, it’s too good a trade.

  7. James Hill says:

As an aside, did you know the renewed interest in aliens and Area 51 was a move to cover up a toxic waste lawsuit against the government? True story.

  8. AB CD says:

Conservatives had Al Gore pegged a long time ago.

I’ve always suspected that Al Gore might be an alien. After all, Gore says very strange things. He seems uncomfortable in his body, as if it’s some sort of human-suit. He was born nine months after the alleged alien sighting in Roswell, N.M. He regularly talks about “the Earth” and “this planet” as if he hasn’t always lived here.

Well, let’s see.. I saw this debunking on Snopes.com some time ago.

However, Weekly World News did note that aliens supported Dubya on their cover stories.

    O-kay….

    J/P=?

  10. Mark says:

Man, if the aliens are this stupid, we need to aim all our weapons outboard.

#8….ab cd….Now those links are funny. I barely could contain myself reading the NRO article.
They might even get a couple of our hard core lefties to give us a HAHA or 2.

I have always thought Gore was an Alien. Before Bush became scary, I used to wince when he spoke, I actually felt sorry for him…..well, thats how I have always felt about Gore, not for the bad syntax, but for the most boring speech’s ever, and I decided he had to have grown up on another Planet.

Where do you hide your pod Uncle Dave? 😉
