This “White House Advisor” has always been all over the media condemning everyone — especially gays — while praising the Lord.
Toronto Daily News – Church Leader Quits After Gay Sex, Meth Claims – US evangelist accused of using male prostitute services — Anyone who studies American history knew this sort of thing was coming. Hypocrisy reigns. As a friend of mine likes to say, “Only sinners go to church.” If this is nothing more than a smear campaign I’d say it was risky since this guy runs in some powerful circles. Let’s watch this unfold. If all this is actually orchestrated by the Democrats, then it looks as if they’ve finally found a Karl Rove rival. Who is it?
Pastor Ted Haggard, the president of the American Association of Evangelicals, has resigned due to allegations of engaging in homosexual intercourse with a prostitute.
Ted Haggard, who runs one of the largest churches in the US and regularly consults the White House on policy matters, had been paying a male prostitute to have sex with him about once a month for the past three years, a man who claims to be the male escort told a Denver radio station
Mike Jones, a male escort, alleged that Haggard, whom he knew as “Art”, paid for sex with him during trysts which had been taking place between them on an almost monthly basis over the course of the previous three years.
Further, Jones said Haggard used methamphetamine before their sexual encounters to heighten his experience.
When did the Republicans get so gay? From what I can tell this is the guy pushing evangelical religion into the Air Force Academy. Now he’s gay? What gives?

Interview with Jones About Haggard who Apparently called himself “Art.”
Note of irony. Here’s an article where Haggard is preaching about how religion belongs in politics. Be careful what you wish for.
Update for all the doubters!: CNN interviewed Ted Haggard and he admits calling Mike Jones for a “massage” and to “buy meth.”
Yet another update:
For those who worry about anyone “judging” Pastor Ted — his church just fired him. Here’s the .pdf of its press release.
Last update, we promise!: Haggard admits being “guilty of sexual immorality” and stated, “I am a deceiver and a liar.”
Haggard is a graduate from Oral Roberts University.
Brings new meaning to Bible “thumping”
Who says God doesn’t have a sense of irony.

and the House Republicans on.. uhhhh…
J/P=?
What I can’t understand is, if he’s innocent as he claims, why resign from your church and organization? Is that all it takes now, someone make an accusation and then you just deny it and quit whatever it is you do?
I don’t know…if someone went on the radio and told all these lies about me, I would stay where I was and then sue him for defamation and libel. Right? What if I said “John C. Dvorak and I have had an affair for over 3 years now” would John just quit his web-site and all the magazines he writes for? I don’t think so!
Also, it’s pretty funny that this is the guy that was in a Richard Dawkins documentary about the Delusion of Religion. He was arguing about evolution and later kicked Dawkins and crew out of his church.
No idea who the guy is, but you really need to wait for the evidence before you convict him. One gay guy making sudden accusations at election time on talk radio does not prove the case. Credit card receipts or STDs might well make the case, of course.
I thought it was strange that he would step down just based on an accusation. Anyone can make an accusation. Well, today his church says he admitted to some but not all of the gay escort’s claims.
Whoever gets up and trumpets his own understanding as right for everyone has got something wrong with his understanding. Whoever tries to make piety into law doesn’t understand the purpose of piety.
Let the stoning begin – as soon as we can find a non-sinner to throw that first stone…
6. I guess he’ll use the old Clinton “definition of sex ” argument. “I did not have a**l s*x with that male prostitute”.
#4 He temporarily stepped down pending an investigation by the church’s overseers. This is standard protocol for the church (and the one I attend) and says nothing of guilt. A little bit of research and reading any article would have told you that.
I don’t know Haggard, but I know people who are friends with him. This story really saddens me. The interim senior pastor said that Haggard has admitted to some wrong doing. I think this comment shows an extreme lack of media savvy on his part as it only fuels his adversaries. What saddens me as well is that people are either quick to judge him or quick to judge the accuser as doing this for purely political reasons. No conclusions should really be drawn from at this time. Having read the articles there is little concrete evidence right now. The voice mails published aren’t incriminating at all.
#9 What are you saying? That if he were more media savvy he would be able to get away with “some wrong doing”. But it’s ok for him to try to control what other consenting adults do in their bedrooms. Those in glass churches shouldn’t throw stones.
This makes my day 8)
After seeing him with a certain attitude, telling Hawkins to not be arrogant, I was left with one thought: “What an arrogant jerk”.
I’m going to watch “Root of all evil” part 1 all over again, and enjoy it even more than the first time.
Wonder how all those people visiting his holiness in Colorado Springs feel about it?
I know I would start questioning certain aspect of god’s intentions on this one. Besides, I’d probably feel pretty let down, dirty and cheated on. Ah, the magic of faith 😉
Btw, search for ‘root of all evil‘ on youtube.com if you haven’t had the chance to watch it. Two parts, about 45 mins each. Enjoy!
John said, “If all this is actually orchestrated by the Democrats, then it looks as if they’ve finally found a Karl Rove rival. Who is it?”
I hope there is a Democratic Karl Rove, and I hope we never find out who it is. As long as he/she is in stealth mode, the good guys have the upper hand (for once).
#10 The senior pastor said he admitted to some guilt. That can be taken a lot of ways. Everyone who hears it assumes that means he had a relationship when that might not be the case. The guilt the interim pastor referred to may have nothing to do with the allegations of having an affair or taking meth. I didn’t say that Haggard wasn’t media savvy, I said that the interim pastor isn’t. He should have stopped after saying we are investigating the situation according to the church’s bylaws.
Keep in mind I’m not saying I believe he’s innocent, I’m just saying that it’s impossible to conclude one way or another now and people shouldn’t be jumping to conclusions. There’s just not enough information out there. And believe me, if he is guilty he will not get a way with it regardless of his media savvy.
Wow John. You live for this kind of story.
#12 Finding a Karl Rove for the dems is not a good thing. Those kind of tactics are despicable regardless of who is doing them. Destroying other people’s lives for political gain is horrible period.
P.S.
I’m not saying that what’s happening here.
8: Clinton didn’t spend a lifetime condemning other people’s sex lives. It’s called hypocrisy. Clinton had a private sex life which was none of the attorneys’, the Congress’s, the media’s, or your business.
This bastard however has made his life a sword for destroying sinners, turning the Air Force Academy into a fundamentalist indoctrination camp, and screaming about the perfidity of homooo-sex-yoo-als while getting himself some on the Q-T.
And he’s Bush’s link to the evangelicals.
I don’t believe in xian hell, so I prefer to heap hell on this bastard while he’s alive. Pile on.
12: There is no one equivalent. But there are ten thousand bloggers who are digging in, and its hard to shut them all up. A thousand points of asskicking, as the Scientologists found out, are devastating.
And they are a hell of a lot smarter than the worldnetdaily crowd.
I don’t forgive him.
But, then, I’m an atheist.
He stepped down because the rumors are true, there is not other reason why he would. Next step rehabilitation.
And why anybody have poltical motivations to get this guy out of office. It thought we had a seperation of church and state.
More from the ‘Do as I say, not as I do’ crowd!

Oh, but I’m sure he said quite a lot while “interacting” with the prostitute 🙂
#15 – You must be the one who brought the knife to the gunfight…
I vote because it matters who legislates, and I want my guys playing with live ammo. This isn’t Government Camp where everyone gets a turn, its a war to decide if some whackjob gets to change the lesson plans to endorse creationism, or to see if gays continue to be legally bashed, or if the poor continue to take it in the teeth while priviledged sons and silver spoon daughters drink the blood of the exploited working class…
When the enemy is evil, there is nothing wrong with destroying their life. They’d do it to you….
Come on now guys. Not all homosexuals are evil.
RBG
…allegations of engaging in homosexual intercourse with a prostitute.
Well, at least it wasn’t sodomy… 🙂
I don’t care if they are republican, democrat, or communist… what are these people thinking???
Are they trying to protect us from people like themselves???
Foley
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Foley
He introduced a bill in 2002 to outlaw web sites featuring sexually suggestive images of preteen children, saying that “these websites are nothing more than a fix for pedophiles.”
Foley’s legislation to change federal sex offender laws was supported by … President George W. Bush signed it into law as part of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006.
Foley also succeeded in getting a law passed that allows volunteer youth-serving organizations like the Boy Scouts of America and Boys and Girls Clubs to have access to FBI fingerprint background checks to help protect children.
Is he an alcohol rehab yet? Thats a sure sign of guilt these days. Or is it meth rehab?
#24
Absolutely not. They are as good as you and me.
But I think everyone saying gays are facing eternal damnation and hell’s torture have a terrible attitude to fellow beings.
The comical part is that Haggard has one foot in both camps 8)
If you check the latest news, you’ll see that Haggard now admits to visiting Jones for “massage therapy” — he confirms it “is his voice in the voice mails” — he says he “only bought meth one time — and didn’t use it”.
Pshaw! I knew he was a good guy all along. Not just another xhristian hypocrite!
He bought meth but didn’t use it. He got a ‘massage’ only.
Right.
A Democratic Karl Rove? Be a complete political s$%t and it will come back and bite you in the ass, Grasshopper. These guys are doing the Democrat’s job for them. Be drunk enough with power, and eventually you will stagger your way onto the front page. But if there is DemKarl, “You da man!”.
Tony Snow said on C-SPAN last night, “in meetings, “W” is the smartest guy in the room”. He must have been referring to meetings with this guy.
He has admitted to buying the Meth and getting a massage from the gay “Masseuise”
But he denies taking the drug and having sex with him.
Sounds like B.S to me. Its always funny when you see A Christian who is so hardcore about telling others what do you and shoving guilt trips on you, and then going out and deciding it doesn’t apply to them.
I take the love part of the bible literally but honestly can you stand being referred to as “A sheep?”
Spread love and understanding not guilt trips and threats.
