vince young

As we discussed last year, in this post linked here, any player who gets on the Madden Football game for EA Sports is cursed for that season. Today Ea announced that quaterback Vince Young will be this years victim.

Here is an excerpt from the press announcement that just arrived:

Electronic Arts Inc., (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today that the NFL’s 2006 Rookie of the Year Vince Young will appear on the cover of Madden NFL 08, the latest iteration of the EA SPORTS™ best-selling football franchise with the official video game license of the NFL and its players. The Tennessee Titans quarterback’s appearance on the cover of Madden NFL 08 makes him the youngest NFL star to grace the cover…Madden NFL 08 will be available in August on the Xbox 360™ and Xbox® videogame and entertainment systems, PLAYSTATION®3 and PlayStation®2 computer entertainment systems, Nintendo GameCube™, Nintendo DS™, Wii™, PC, PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) handheld entertainment system. 1. Vince says:

And with this, the Titans become the first team with 2 different players on Madden covers.

  2. Sniff Ner says:

You would think Madden would stop putting peeps on the cover. I’d love to see the list of players that was offered this & turned it down. I’m glad nobody from my favorite team signed up for this shit (you know LT was offered the cover)
Bad move Vince. Titans bad luck has already started with Pacman Jones, he’ll probably never play football again & have to watch the games from a cell.

  3. Not Cursed says:

There’s no such thing as a ‘madden curse’.

What would the cause be for players who were NOT on the cover of Madden games to suffer season ending injuries? What about the players who weren’t injured while being on the cover?

Just another slow news day story for those weak-minded people to think things like ‘curses’ exist.

  4. James Hill says:

In any event, look for VY to get injured this season: Not because he’s on Madden, but because he’s a mobile quarterback… and mobile quarterbacks usually cause defenses grief for about a year until someone comes up with a plan to stop them which is then copied by every D in the league.

  5. Andy says:

Not to mention, the whole reason someone gets on the cover of a game is because they had a standout season. When a quarterback or running back has a good season, then the following season they become somewhat of a target. And yes, all the other teams have had the whole offseason figuring out how they are going to shut that person down.

  6. Andy says:

And Lawrence Taylor was NOT offered the cover, they even didn’t start putting players on the cover of Madden until 1999. All versions of Madden prior to that had Madden on the cover. LT retired in 1993.
