Here is what Gary Shapiro CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) said: Dvorak's writing sings with insight and clarity. Whether or not you agree with John's views, he will get you thinking and is never boring. These essays are worth the read!

Why would you want to fish with worms??? This year at least the worms are catching the small fish. The big fish all strike on spoons.
Both Bass Pro Shops in DFW have one. From an article about Bass Pro from Access Atlanta:
“It’s floored me how well it’s done,” said McDevitt, who says he likely would have sold even more if he had gotten the machine in place for the peak spring fishing months of March, April and May. “I’m thinking [sales] will at least double next year.”
.
We’ve had those here in the midwest for a long time.. I’ve always wanted to paste over the front of one with a sign for food or soda. Wouldn’t that be a pleasant surprise! 🙂
Who carries around 3.00 in quarters?
Those are all over Wisconsin.
#3 in Canada we have $1 and $2 coins…
Wouldn’t that be a pleasant surprise! 🙂
I think you meant unpleasant surprise. 🙂
We’ve had them here in the Hudson Valley for about ten years now!
Yeah we have had those in Louisiana also, they are outside alot of Wal-Marts.
Now if I could just find one that had Lake Fork plastics, some Gamakatsu hooks and a spare reel of monofilament line for that impromptu 3AM trip where those 10 lb. black bass are ripping everything to shreds, I’d be a happy man. 🙂
I love it… dew worms in a vending machine!!!
I dare anyone to “do the dew” outta that machine! (or whatever the hell mountain dew’s slogan is) 😛
Mm-mm-wormburger…
This would be a huge hit in Thailand.
I used to live in Cambridge, England. In nearby Milton, a local fuel station had a maggot vending machine for the same purposes. Seriously. The brand-name was “Mag-it” (har har, gotta love those marketeers!)
Jeez, this is very old hat, John. I’ve seen these vending machines for years when I go camping.
I like the one at OHSU.. with packets of Gene-splicing enzymes – for $145.80

Kind of expensive for such a small snack..
Well we know one thing for sure, John ain’t ever gone a fishin’ 😛
These machines have been around for years at almost every live bait store at any recreational lake. Hell they even have one at a fishing and tackle store located at a mini strip mall where I’m from. Growing up we’d stop there early saturdays before hitting the lake and pick up our grubs, jigs, weights, spinners and extra damn jigs, cause they were only a dime a peice!
Hmm… Not sure what they cost these days. Damn Internet runs my life now. Doh!
