Not their shirt, but still lawsuit worthy

Feds pay $80,000 over anti-Bush T-shirts
A couple arrested at a rally after refusing to cover T-shirts that bore anti-President Bush slogans settled their lawsuit against the federal government for $80,000, the American Civil Liberties Union announced Thursday.
Nicole and Jeffery Rank of Corpus Christi, Texas, were handcuffed and removed from the July 4, 2004, rally at the state Capitol, where Bush gave a speech. A judge dismissed trespassing charges against them, and an order closing the case was filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Charleston.
The ACLU said in a statement that a presidential advance manual makes it clear that the government tries to exclude dissenters from the president’s appearances. “As a last resort,” the manual says, “security should remove the demonstrators from the event.”
Beat the Bushes, Flush the (insert bird name)
Awww, fuck the First Amendment. In fact, fuck the whole Constitution. After all, it’s only a Goddamned Piece of Paper. Little King Dumbya told us so, so it must be true.
They only get away with it if we let them.
>>They only get away with it if we let them.
And what do we do? Mow down the Secret Service with our AK-47s when they try to arrest us with our seditious t-shirts?
4==We should do just what these good folks did==sue the bastards, make some news, get some money, educate the public, vote for them that support the Constitution and not some ex-coke head born again from Texas.
AK-47?–are you ever on point? (Not to be Socratic in my approach–Plato was more into defintions and perfected ideals.)
$80,000 is meaningless for the Bush mafia in that it sends a visible message that any dissent will be met with force and public humiliation.
Hail Caesar.
>>are you ever on point?
Do you ever actually say anything, bobbo, or just ask questions? Are you sure you’re not on the payroll of John C. Dvorak? I’m going to stop replying to you. You give me a headache.
“he ACLU said in a statement that a presidential advance manual makes it clear that the government tries to exclude dissenters from the president’s appearances. “As a last resort,” the manual says, “security should remove the demonstrators from the event.””
A really skillful lawyer could color this as a conspiracy to deprive the demonstrators in question of their Constutional rights, a grave civil rights violation – the range of punishment includes the death penalty, when it’s a conspiracy. WTF is Bill Kunstler when he could do some good??
As a meaningless aside to this post, I’m sure Uncle Dave meant Your tax money at work.
Damned perfectionists with Literature degrees should be horsewhipped, the morans!
[Fixed — It’s been a long day – ed.]
As much as I’m convinced Bush needs to go because he is mentally not equipped for the job, he made an absolutely brilliant decision with the choice of Cheney. Choice: The smirking chimp or the diabolical dick?
So until the next election, Americans are stuck with a idiot and a thief. The Democrats don’t have the votes for a dual impeachment. What’s worse, we the people clearly don’t give a damn about the damage being done.
Take a look at the candidates for ’08. How did we ever sink so low? The Democrats are offering a tired old bag, an inexperienced black and a blow-dried ambulance chaser while the Republicans field a defective wind up doll screaming “9/11”, an “I’ll say anything” male Barbie, and a bad actor torn between TV and a Senate seat.
No wonder we are apathetic. Of course, we can claim we are distracted because the bank is taking the house, the kids are licking lead paint and the pastor is a pedophile.
My take is that their lawyer was the one getting the settlement money, the only thing they got was a lousy T-shirt.
#11, Angel,
You observant bastard.
#7–Now M Mustard==You copied a prior post and asked a question.
Then I answered your question and asked one of my own.
So far, I have given more answers than you have.
With so much information and good humor, its sad you wont share.
Any direct childhood trauma that causes this?
#13, bobbo,
I think MM answered you. Becoming overly upset over trivial things shows you have too much time on your hands.
#10, I assume your ‘wind up doll’ is Guliani?
We DO HAVE some DECENT FOLKS, people! I’m supporting Ron Paul 2008 because I think that governs best which governs LEAST…LESS government snooping into my bedroom and my wallet, please! But on the Left we have Mike Gravel and Kucinich also speaking Truth to Power!
Ron Paul Revolution, Baby! It’s OUR country and we are taking it back!
@ 14
your right, nothing sader than a flame war in c-o-m-m-e-n-t-s, well except maybe the bush administration. ffs this isnt even a message board lets stay on point.
that policy to remove protesters by force as a last resort may violate their constitutional rights, but hey like they say its only cheating if you get caught and have enough public outrage to get prosecuted in court like they did. I bet they never expected the ACLU to come after them.
