    Welcome to the Police States of America. Where the police don’t have to obey the law, they ARE the law!

  2. Jerk-Face says:

    It’s pretty clear the woman was being a belligerent bitch. She was even kicking out the window after being tasered so many times. Give it up lady.

    However, that cop was enjoying his job a little too much. Continually tasering a handcuffed woman who’s begging for mercy is just sick.

  3. Alejandro says:

    Don’t know about you guys but I’d be acting like a “belligerent bitch” too if someone was trying to impose their will on me. What is it about fat cops that makes them hate so much?

  4. Stars & Bars says:

    #2 So what, she had hurt no one and was not a threat to the “Officer”. I don’t think he will be an officer for long. Then you have this crap.

  5. Wally the Engineer says:

    Most (not all) police officers are on a power trip. That’s why they become polce. They believe they are above civillians. To them, this kind of behavior is “giving her what she deserves”.
    Now, I believe they said in the story she was drunk, and ejected from a bar. She must have been really drunk, I can’t imaging too many people taking repeated taser hits.

    It’s sad this happened to her. She needs to be charged with the drunk and disorderly, and probably sent to alcohol counseling.
    The police officer needs to seriously reconsider his career choice. He looked like he was enjoying it a little much.
    Perhaps he can get a job with Blackwater…

  6. owen says:

    Police Brutality is clearly getting out of hand – what with two taser attacks in one week …

    Tasers are barbaric tools of torture – used by thugs/morons suffering testosteronitis.

    The woman repeatedely tasered (FIVE FUCKING TIMES!!!) by Richard Kovach in Ohio is clear indication that this pig wielding the taser gun was having orgasimic relish in seeing her squirm and scream.

    There is no indication that he nor any of those accompises were ever being threatened by this woman – half their fat bulbuous size. These fuckers were standing about – their hands in their pockets or on their hips – so endangered were they.

    The pathetic defence by various police juristictions hardly serves to allay the fears of Joe Public.

    In training , these thugs need to experience the direct effect of being tasered – so that they might possibly learn just how torturous this evil device is.

    This bastard needs to be castrated – without anaesthetic …

    If it looks like a pig, acts like a pig, walks like a pig, grunts like a pig smells like a pig … it is a “PIG”

  7. bobbo says:

    Language forms our thoughts and the political/social debate.

    Tasers were introduced as a humane alternative to lethal force.

    Now, they are talked about as a “means to secure compliance.”

    Which is it??

    Should it be a crime to use tasers to secure compliance?

  8. Improbus says:

    Someone needs to put the police on a shorter leash but it won’t be under a Republican administration and the way the Democrats are acting it won’t be under one of them either.

  11. Awake says:

    Time to start holding the cops that do this kind of thing liable as if they were civilians. Lawsuits, jail time, loss of employment, fines.
    Cops do not respect or fear the law, since they know that it does not apply to them.

  12. Raff says:

    I’ve seen with my own eyes the cops here in my city taser a 110 pound woman 3 times. Yeah she was belligerent, but does that warrant being shocked by a human cattle prod? please.. Two grown men cant handle a 110 pound woman? They have to taser her three times?

    The cops are nothing but a government paid gang. I say fuck em..

    I’m way more scared of the cops than I am any criminals. They are more likely to beat you and take your money than criminals are. Oh but they are called fines so its legal and not extortion.

    Anyone have any good links on how to immigrate out of America?

  13. Lauren the Ghoti says:

    There is an invisible subculture in modern America, a sort of ‘brotherhood’ of cops. They refer to themselves and their comrades as “good guys”. What that makes the rest of us, i.e. non-cops, is left for you to figure out.

    They spend their working lives dealing with the lowest members of society, for the most part. The problem lies in the fact that we do not take care to hire people intelligent or insightful enough to understand that the wrongdoers they encounter are not representative of the remainder of society. Instead, older senior officers, firmly entrenched in the police heirarchy, make goddamn sure that patrol officers who don’t toe the “us versus them” line against the people they’re ostensibly hired to serve, will not be promoted or rewarded in any way. This perpetuates the dysfunctional police subculture and isolates them from the rest of society – as does enforcing laws that punish behavior that actually harms no one, the so-called ‘victimless crimes’. Is it any wonder that cops are estranged from those they are supposed to be protecting?

  14. Nimby says:

    My brother used to be a cop. The tasers were to be used to temporarily subdue a suspect and enable the officer to secure them with handcuffs. This fat f**k is simply using it as a torture device and a threat of more torture if compliance is not forthcoming. I guess he was just too fat to get down and wrestle with her. Probably would have lost…

    Yes, I can see you are way more scared of the cops. That is why you are part of the problem. You want to run from the problem instead of fighting it.

    So when this 110 lb woman was tasered, what did you do? Did you call the Police Chief to complain? Did you let your mayor, sheriff, councilor, or alderman know your outrage? Did you write a letter to the editor of the local rag? Or did you just come to DU and spout out how the police are just a big gang for the government?

    BTW, instead of “immigrate out of”, it is called emigrate. Leaving is easy. Just find a country that will accept you and apply for immigration at their nearest consulate or embassy.

  16. Cinaedh says:

    There’s nothing more unsettling than watching two people on television, posing as some sort of ‘experts’ at something when they have no actual experience in the milieu and absolutely no clue as to what they’re talking about.

    The only thing more unsettling is a series of knee jerk, sanctimonious armchair experts commenting on the aforesaid issue from the safety of their computer keyboards.

    Hands up, now! How many of you ‘experts’ have had slices of skin ripped off your face as a drunken female tried to remove your eyeballs? How many of you have been kicked in the throat or in the crotch by an out-of-control, insanely drunken female?

    Is there even one person with a hand up? Maybe the cop in the video would be number two, if he was allowed to vote.

    Sometimes policing just isn’t very pretty.

  17. Mr. Fusion says:

    #7, bobbo,

    Good comment.

  18. Stars & Bars says:

    #15 Mr. Fusion though we often disagree I applaud your stance. Running is not the answer. Standing up / shining a light on this type of injustice is the only way to defeat tyranny. Americans are complacent.

    #12 As bad as this country is, name one that’s better.

    With the availability of inexpensive electronics you can document any Police encounter. I have as system that will email the audio and video once recording is stopped. If the police try to stop and delete the recording, it’s too late. Two friends automatically have a copy. Know (study) and defend your rights. Use your documentation to win in court. Sue both the department / city and individual(s) involved and let the chips fall where they may.

  19. Greg Allen says:

    What’s the deal with these cops — are they no longer trained to do a take down without a tazer?

    Like the “don’t tazer me bro” guy — weren’t there something like six cops vs one skinny journalism student?

    You mean they can’t do a take-down without a tazer?

    My suspicion is that it’s fun to tazer a guy, so they just do it.

  20. Greymoon says:

    #3 Because fat cops only receive love from a donut. You don’t want to know the details.

    Here we go again. Another Cowboy cop totally handling a situation wrong. “CALM DOWN!” zzztzap, zzztzap. “DO NOT MOVE!” zzztzap, zzztzap. “Your tearing up my CRUISER!!” zzzztzap, zzzztzap.

    This guys a dumb ass and he deserves to get eye for an eye punishment. “PUT DOWN THE DONUT” zzzztzap, zzzztzap. “YOU ABUSE AUTHORITY!” zzzztzap, zzzztzap. “YOU ARE A BULLY!” zzzztzap, zzzztzap. “TAKE THAT DUMB ASS!” zzzztzap, zzzztzap.

    But instead he gets paid vacation, WTF.

  21. Jerk Face says:

    20. “But instead he gets paid vacation, WTF.”

    Thank the unions for that BS!

  22. Li says:

    #18: The list is short, but there is a list; Canada, New Zealand, Iceland, Greenland, Sweden, Switzerland, and any of the world wide city states (with one exception). Nations that are more arguable but perhaps on par include Costa Rica, Singapore (if you don’t mind a conformist sci-fi society) and Norway. Australia is on par as far as standard of living goes, but they are having significant police state issues right now too. If you want to get rich, and don’t mind a step down, might I suggest some of the old eastern block states like Croatia or the Czech republic? There are all sorts of options to keep in mind if this trajectory towards perdition remains here in the US.

  23. Cinaedh says:

    #19. Greg Allen

    ‘You mean they can’t do a take-down without a tazer?”

    Sure they can – but they might hurt the asshole, so they use the tazer instead.

    “My suspicion is that it’s fun to tazer a guy, so they just do it. “

    Nope, that’s not true. It’s a lot more fun hitting someone with a big stick but that might hurt them, so the cops use a tazer instead.

  24. Greymoon says:

    #16 So your saying that a drunk woman kicked your ass and that tazering a HANDCUFFED drunk woman is ok? Doesn’t take rocket science to see why you think that.

    Pontificating from behind a keyboard about sanctimonious armchair experts just describes that you have no clue as to what you’re talking about.

    Put your hand down and STFU. Sometimes pulling crap out of your ass isn’t very pretty, do it in private for the sake of the people will ya.

  25. Greymoon says:

    #21 Yeah I know, sad isn’t it?

  26. Jeff says:

    What I think is funny is how no one seemed to care when the incident took place the other day (or worse the kid in the UCLA library). However, one woman gets tasered and all of a sudden we are headed into a police state. Just to be fair, he wasn’t hitting her, he was just keeping her under control and blow off some steam.

    I think what needs to be stressed here is that not all guys are created equal. Most guys of average build have no chance against a typical law enforcement officer (and that is kind of by design). If three to four 250lbs+ men can’t handle a average weight male college student with a proper hold they have got themselves a problem.

    If I had a choice between a night-stick and a taser, assuming the officer was properly trained, I would choose the baton. Critical mass body blows are easier to recover from. There are a number of problems that can transpire when 50volts are pumped through the body. It also keeps the officer honest because they have to commit to the act of violence instead of simply just deploying it because they are too lazy and, or fearful of the situation.

  27. Pierre says:

    The commentators on CNN and here say “handcuffed woman”. However, she is clearly not handcuffed when she is repeatedly tasered outside the car. She is handcuffed only in the section of video inside the car when she is trying to break the window.

  28. ShawnC says:

    Every cop on the scene deserves to be disciplined along with the officer that was actually assaulting the prisoner. I find it appalling that not one other officer exercised some good judgment and told the other officer to stop!

    It’s clear from the video that the woman presented no threat to any officer at the scene and she could easily have subdued and cuffed at any time. Instead the officer continually uses the taser to make the woman obey his commands.

    The officer with the taser should be fired and all the other officers suspended without pay for a week to make them aware that brutality should never be tolerated from any police officer.

  29. Mr. Fusion says:

    A week ago in the South Bend Indiana suburb of Roseland, A town councilor was evicted from the meeting. Since he was on a point of order, the Council President was out of order but ordered the police to remove him. As he was leaving the hall, the cop shoved him from behind, pushing the councilor’s head into a glass door. Once outside, the cop sat on his back and laid several punches to the man’s head. When he got up, the cop asked the unconscious man if he tripped and fell.

    The cop said in the police report that the victim tried to elbow him. The video clearly shows the victim’s hands were full and he was turning away from the cop.

    A week later and the officer hasn’t been charged.

    http://www.wndu.com/videoplus/headlines/9834111.html

    If there is anything good to come out of this is the prevalence of video cameras are showing more and more what really happens in too many police altercations. Hopefully, the message will get through to police that this behavior is not going to be tolerated.

    Roseland is a small town of 1000 having a severe budget crunch. After the lawsuit they will be having an even tougher time.

  30. Stars & Bars says:

    #22 Very politically incorrect list Li, did you notice the ethnic breakdown of the countries listed?

    Greenland = >99% Whites

    Norway = 95.2% European

    Iceland = >94% European

    Ireland = >90% European

    Australia = >86.3% European

    Sweden = >86.6% European

    New Zealand = > 69.8 % European

    Canada = >68% European

    USA = 74.7% European

    Where did you come up with Costa Rica? Panama would be a safer choice.
