#31 Having enough resources is needed in order for good governance, and so the breakdown is often the result of two factors reaching back into the mercantile days of the 1800’s; being good at stealing other peoples stuff, or being good at keeping other people from stealing your stuff. Being white, unto itself, made it easier to prevent theft because in those deluded days they held each other in higher regard to begin with, and the European nations were best at taking by force in that era. And the fact that brown people only gained respect with wealth encouraged mercenary wealth gathering that results in the wide disparities between populations; not healthy for good governance.

    Some other criticisms;

Ireland and Australia are not on my list. The first has a low standard of public health and the unfortunate remnants of the IRA fiasco hurting their civil rights, and Australia has politicians just as deluded as ours.

Canada is a very diverse nation, and your statistics just back that up. Go to Toronto sometime, it is a city of tolerance and harmony. Further, you are obviously ignorant of Costa Rica. Their median income is compatibly low, but their cost of living is tiny compared to ours, their hospitals are world class and cheap, and their infrastructure is better maintained than ours. You should visit there, it’s a great trip.

Yup there we go again. Another cop going all cowboy over nothing. This particular cowboy cop should be charged with felony assault and battery. At most it appears that the guy just verbally accosted the cowboy cop and that set off the asshole in him. What are they putting in the donuts these cops eat? Sugar with dumb ass filling donuts?

Apparently these types of cops think they are above the law. The citizens need to stand up to these bullies and get them removed from public service.

Oops, I meant #30, my bad.

  5. grog says:

when i was on the wrong side of the law, i discovered that if you want the police to leave you alone in a bad situation, remain calm, quiet, say only ‘yes sir’ or ‘no sir’ and 90% of the time they’ll leave you alone

once they are on the scene they are in charge, and unless you are willing to take a beating, you really should just shut the fuck up — it’s common sense

if you are protester, go for that whole nonviolent confrontation thing and get in the press, but i have little mercy drunk, obnoxious morons who don’t know when to shut the fuck up.

    and i’m a liberal.

I find it amazing that these idiots cant figure out that being shocked puts alot of people in a state of panic, hence they dont comply but try to get away from the source of the pain and extreme discomfort. If you ever been put in a choke hold its the same thing, pretty panic inducing you would kill to get out of it.

  9. tim says:

Maybe he needed the taser since he is too much of a lard ass to control her otherwise. He didn’t even try to control her physically. I guess that would’ve required breaking a sweat for the fat pig.

  10. Stars & Bars says:

The Police are Paid to “Protect and Serve” the Rich, Not You and Me

You see, there’s a common misconception about police. Some people (mostly white, middle class folks) think that the police are here to “protect and serve” everybody. But notice that their motto doesn’t say anything about protecting everybody…

America is a classist society, just like the U.K. or India. The rich and poor divide is sometimes as stark as the difference between slums and condos. Poor people naturally get angry and even violent when they realize that their situation is completely hopeless… So sometimes the poor take matters into their own hands and try to steal something from the rich. That’s where the police come in. If you rob a house or steal a car you will be arrested; simple as that.

But what happens when the rich steal from the poor?

For the most part: Nothing. The elite can literally write our laws with a few well-placed campaign contributions. They can make their left illegal while they continually try to box the underclass in with obscene violations of the first amendment like free speech zones. The elite ghettoize our inner cities, offshore our jobs, make helpful drugs illegal, send our children to die in pointless wars, kill all those who stand in their way and terrorize the rest of us with servile propaganda and there’s not a thing anyone of us can do about it.

  12. paranoia says:

I am still trying to figure out whey why the guy recorded the whole form the police cars camera system, if the officer thought he was doing something wrong, I doubt he would have moved the camera to tape the whole thing both in front of the car and then again in the back seat. But the good thing, more cars are equipped with cameras, keeps the cops in line and helps get evidence to keep the lawyers in line. Plus we get to watch the tazings, beatings, wrecks, and stupid people caught up in the moment.

  13. Bob says:

No, to be more correct, that’s 2 videotaped, YouTube’d taser attacks in one week!

It’s all about the media. Makes for good ratings!!

“So your saying that a drunk woman kicked your ass and that tazering a HANDCUFFED drunk woman is ok? Doesn’t take rocket science to see why you think that.”

First of all, I don’t ‘get’ the last sentence at all. What does it mean, if anything?

To answer your question, damned right she did and I outweighed her by a few pounds, too. I was being “nice” and put her in the back seat without cuffing her.

There was no cage and she came over into the front seat like a possessed Fury. I got the driver’s door open and rolled out onto the street in front of the restaurant, where my partner was laughing his ass off on the ground and the ‘good citizens’ were yelling at me to leave the poor woman alone.

After she was handcuffed, she started kicking me in the ‘thigh area’. If I’d had a taser back then, believe me, I’d have shot her a half dozen times.

“Pontificating from behind a keyboard about sanctimonious armchair experts just describes that you have no clue as to what you’re talking about.”

Yeah right. You’re the expert. We’ll all kowtow to you because you know exactly what you’re talking about and you can make judgments… based on what exactly?

Please re-read #16 and #23 and then STFU. There are way too many of you ‘experts’ out on the street these days and there always have been. Now YouTube is making everyone in the world with eyeballs an expert in conflict resolution.

You might want to examine your own motives, whatever those motives might happen to be. You’re not very forthcoming about your own background and experiences with the police and the justice system.

Let me guess… you were just walking along the street, doing nothing illegal and the police just jumped on you for no reason and threw you in jail for no reason? Yeah, I’ve heard that happens a lot.

  16. Mr. Fusion says:

#50, if “experience” such as this is the criteria for commenting then you are in the wrong profession. You have become too jaded by your own experience to properly “Serve and Protect”. Justifying your attitude by calling civilians “knee jerk, sanctimonious armchair experts ” only shows you are not cut out to wear a badge. This is the attitude so many refer to when it becomes apparent that some police have an “US versus Them” outlook. Not good.

There is never ANY excuse to torture a prisoner. And that is exactly what happened here. If you approve, do someone a favor and resign. We don’t need or want your kind wearing a gun and a badge.

  17. Greymoon says:

    #50
Uh, nope, you just kind of make stuff up don’t you? Do you do that at work also?

“Doesn’t take rocket science to see why you think that.” – means you got your ass kicked by a drunk woman so you think putting a little taze on a HANDCUFFED drunk woman is an A-OK thing to do, evidently “half a dozen times” as you say, regardless of the situation and compliance.

Since when are tazers authorized as retribution? Their not and if you ever do this I sincerely hope you are charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon, convicted and sent to jail or prison where your bullying, cowboy ass belongs. I know if I tased you I would be charged as such. Are you above the law? Before you open your mouth again and demonstrate the fool you are I will answer for you – no. The key difference here is I wouldn’t taze you unless you directly threatened my life or others around us.

“You’re the expert. We’ll all kowtow to you because you know exactly what you’re talking about and you can make judgments… based on what exactly?”

I never said I was an expert. But you have so I guess I base what you said on, get this – what you said! Please no compliments they are not necessary.

As for my motives – I believe strongly that here in a America the police are here to PROTECT and SERVE the citizens, you know the “good” ones who where on your ass for being a dumb ass and not controlling a serious situation in a professional and humane manner. Us “experts” on the street are watching YOU and we will remove your donut if you violate our rights – period.

If your job sucks so much and you can’t handle it in a professional manner then GET A JOB YOU CAN HANDLE and don’t take your frustrations out on the citizens you took an oath to protect and serve. Do oaths mean nothing to you? Now STFU.

  18. Greymoon says:

Damn Fusion we agree in theory for once, have a beer on me. Cheers.

    #51 Mr. Fusion

Luckily for everybody in the world, I’m long retired from that poor excuse of a profession.

By the way, back then I wasn’t allowed to call “knee jerk, sanctimonious armchair experts” “knee jerk, sanctimonious armchair experts”. Now I can. Woo Hoo! There’s nothing like freedom at long last.

Judging by the attitudes around here, no-one is ever going to be successful at transforming the “US versus Them” outlook into something more constructive. Your post is an excellent example of counter-productivity along those lines.

I’m not certain I saw “torture” in that video and no matter how many other people think they did, I’d prefer to let a judge and/or jury make the final decision on the matter.

You should try that sometime. Not only do you sometimes learn the truth, you support the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the American Way.

Now that’s gotta be a good thing, don’t you think?

  20. Greymoon says:

By the way, all the cops I have received traffic tickets from over the years have been courteous and professional to me as have I to them. Even the Arizona DPS who nailed me for 137mph in a 80mph zone on a stretch of I-10 between Phoenix and L.A.

  25. Cinaedh says:

    #59 Greymoon

You may have been surprised to meet me in my former life. It’s hard to make someone laugh when you’re giving them a ticket for 137 in an 80 but I’ll bet I could have managed it.

    Obie is my new hero.

  26. Greymoon says:

    #60
Oh we had a great laugh, its only money and points. The laugh probably kept me outa jail for reckless endangerment.

  27. bobbo says:

Nice thread going here. Good police work is often not pretty. Police abuse does exist. Everyone IS entitled to their own values/beliefs, but such beliefs only as valid as the facts/agruments that support them.

Each case should stand on its own rather than be subject to a generic attitudinal position. I don’t think cops should put their own life or health at risk to give some drunk the benefit of the doubt re possible injuries. You see, the beligerent drunk is by definition a public risk. I don’t think small men or large women should be given a break for that status alone.

Course, once I find a cop lying to coverup their actions, that is worse than being publicly intoxicated. The taser was malfunctioning? Maybe so, but probably not? So, taser and wait for effect. Multiple tasers–abuse.

Cinaedh==is there enough evidence on that tape “reasonably speaking” to make a judgment one way or the other, or not enough info? Don’t cop-out to judge and jury. Thats a BS move.

  28. TheMe says:

    I’m puzzled…

Why the cop just didn’t shoot her in the leg?
She was aggressive, was a threat to the public and the cop too… and it wouldn’t look as bad on TV as it does with repeated tasing (so the morons taking side of her – obviously causing massive public disturbance – wouldn’t complaint about it)

Yes, “police state of America” it may look like, yet the real problem was clearly that bitch who couldn’t stomache being thrown out of the pub. I bet she was high or drunk. Tased so many times and still kicking the window inside the cruiser? Wow. Either the cop’s taser was really shitty without any juice left, or she was pumped up on drugs or such, isn’t it obvious?

  29. Mister Mustard says:

    >>how actually having a gun at the scene would make

Somebody coulda shot the fat sadistic fuck, and made the world a better place.

Tasering a handcuffed woman. Christ on a crutch.

  30. Mr. Fusion says:

    #54,

Luckily for everybody in the world, I’m long retired from that poor excuse of a profession.

Yup. And the world is probably a better place.

The “Us and Them” comes from police forgetting who they work for and what their job actually is. Anyone condoning what this cop did is too socio-pathic to even think about serving the public.

BTW, I have never had a problem with a cop professionally. I have had one socially and it is a scary thing not knowing if calling 911 will bring help or more problems.

    #59,

    137 in an 80 ? Ya, you deserved a ticket 🙂
