I knew those bastards were out to get me!
BBC NEWS | Americas | Anger at Giuliani 9/11 fundraiser
This next election is so orchestrated it’s ridiculous. Rudy is not part of the overall scheme and has to be taken out one way or the other. This is the beginning of the smears. This whole incident is downright crazy. There are a million ways this could be played and it was played by everyone lockstep as a negative thing. Amazing universal compliance. Where was the “Rudy Pays Tribute to 9-11 Victims with $9.11 dinner” or some such thing. Suddenly anything regarding 9-11 is exploitation. Since when? This is a non-story that could have been slanted any number of ways. I’ve always been convinced that Rudy was never meant to head the ticket and have been waiting for something like this. There is more yet to come.
Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani has been criticised over a fundraising party at which participants are being urged to donate $9.11.
The International Association of Fire Fighters accuses him of exploiting the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks.
Mr Giuliani rose to national prominence as New Yorks mayor on 9/11.
The Giuliani campaign says it did not plan the event, which is due to take place on Wednesday evening in California at the home of a supporter.
Nevertheless, the firefighters association said the stated theme of the fundraiser – “$9.11 for Rudy” was in poor taste.
It seems to me, Rudy has no campaign other than the fact he was mayor of New York on 9/11 and he acted like a normal, intelligent human being.
If they take that away from him, he’s left with less than nothing.
Opponents = 1
Rudy =
I’m no fan of Giuliani, but if it isn’t Giuliani that they want, then who? Everyone else lags well behind. Late entry Thompson? Slip sliding no-charisma McCain? Mormon flip flopper Romney? I’m certain they don’t want Ron Paul—too much brutal honesty.
JCD
I think Rudy is doing plenty on his own to screw up his campaign. Answering phone calls at a speech to the NRA. Wearing women’s dresses on more than one occasion. 10 so far as I can see. You say “Where was the “Rudy Pays Tribute to 9-11 Victims with $9.11 dinner” All I have to say about that is “Are you kidding?” That is just as tasteless and transparent as the raise $9.11 nonsense.
Rudy…….We get it you were mayor of NYC on 911 next topic please!
Gosh. I thought it was kind of tasteless when he married his cousin. That pussy-whipped staged NRA conversation with “darling” during his debate sealed the deal, however. Anyone who doesn’t turn of his or her cell phone in a public forum should be shipped off to Gitma, and waterboarded for the rest of his or her natural life.
Rudy Guiliani is the political John Waters; campy, hyperbolic, and shallow. He might be interesting company, but we all know he has no good taste.
The only people worth voting for are the ones the media are studiously not paying attention to; Dodd, Gravel, Paul and Kucinich. Frankly, at this point I don’t care what the principles are, as long as the candidate has some besides greed for power. Heck, there are reports that the polling firms are resisting any one who claims they want to vote for one of them by simply saying that isn’t a choice. This might explain how someone who is ‘polling’ in the single digits can win the Michigan straw poll, and come in second or third in every other one. It is time we stop accepting this blatant rigging of our Democracy, and demand that we are given the opportunity to, for once, not have to choose the lesser of two evils. I would rather choose a good man than choose between any number of fools.
Kucinich’s wife is HOT
>>Kucinich’s wife is HOT
Hey, you’ll have that when you marry someone 31 years younger. My youngest daughter is closer to my age than his “wife” is to his. Ewwww. Rudy redux. I just hope the little hottie isn’t related to him too!
Bush and Rove’s decision to demagogue 911 to win the 2002 mid-term elections was the end of the most unified time America has seen since WWII. And the loss of a tremendous opportunity to make America a better place.
I’ll forever resent Bush for that.
Giuliani’s use of 911 to become president is nothing new and totally predictable — it’s just more of that same shameless exploitative political crap most Americans are tired of.
#7,
I disagree – I know plenty of ugly 31 year old woman. One on the train has an ass 2 meters wide (as opposed to my svelte 1.5 meter ass). I also know plenty of 50+ year old woman that are still very hot; Isabella Rossilini’s 60+ and still attractive.
Frankly, I can understand there would be anger here. This is a person trying to capitalize on a tragedy for his own political gain. The $9.11 donation, along with the slew of daily references made by his campaign, are all intended to turn 9/11 into some kind of Guiliani endorsement. Fortunately, I think people are smarter than that.
“Suddenly anything regarding 9-11 is exploitation. Since when?”
Ever since Bush stood on the rubble with the blow horn.
and I’ll ask who is trying to orchestrate what? Seems the front runner always gets attacked until the primary is over?
Every “position” is a form of exploitation. Every exercise of labelling something as exploitation is propaganda.
Politics—-thats all this all is.
So now you’re a ageist bigot, MM? 😉
Why is Rudy even a mainline candidate?
-He cheated on his wife with a much younger woman.
-He has nothing whatsoever to run on besides 9/11.
-He continually shows disrespect and laughs at other candidates during debates.
Anyone who supports this clown needs to have their brain checked out.
And yes, using $9.11 for donations is incredibly exploitive. Guiliani claims not to have known about it, but this is the same guy who uses 9/11 wherever he goes.
Rudy Guilliani has 9/11 Tourette’s
I don’t quite get this post.
“Rudy is not part of the overall scheme and has to be taken out one way or the other. ”
So – who is taking him out? Dems? Repubs? The Trilateral Commission?
Whose “overall scheme” are you referring to?
Whatever your point, the man is obviously not fit to lead the country. Of course, that didn’t stop W.
To Rudy, 9/11 is Christmas all year ’round.
#9, Sounds,
Ya, but trust me, an unbiased observer. It’s the pants that make your butt look big.
Suddenly anything regarding 9-11 is exploitation.
No. Only when the death of almost 3000 people are used for personal purposes.
Guilliani did next to nothing after 9/11 except be in all the photo ops. He didn’t dig with his bare hands to find a survivor. He didn’t wash grit from people’s eyes. He didn’t tell someone in Brooklyn or Queens that their wife was dead.
Would someone care to point out if he actually did something I don’t remember?
#17 LOL!
Rudy’s handlers didn’t know about the $9.11 donation request in exactly the same way that Dubya’s handlers knew nothing about the “Mission Accomplished” banner being produced and installed on that aircraft carrier.
Heck, Lewis Black had a rant on 9/11 exploitation back on Sept 14, 2004…
Yeah, Bush will support McCain after 2004, with his father appearing at a McCain event recently. Hillary has been attacking everyone BUT Giuliani which suggests she’s not afraid of him.
Dvorak again demonstrates that his capabilities as a political pundit leave a lot to be desired.
How in the WORLD does anyone come away thinking a political fundraiser is an appropriate place to invoke 9/11 – and to use $9.11 as the ‘hook’?!?! Boy, if that’s not putting a low price on the corpses of those poor people – God rest their souls – I don’t know what is. I guess the ability to express common decency isn’t a part of JCD’s criteria for determining who’s fit to lead this country.
John, you’re political sense is stillborn. Stick to technology.
#13 – -He continually shows disrespect and laughs at other candidates during debates.
THAT is his ONE selling point, in my opinion.
But then I admire the qualities in others that I see in myself 🙂
#18 – Guilliani did next to nothing after 9/11 except be in all the photo ops. He didn’t dig with his bare hands to find a survivor. He didn’t wash grit from people’s eyes. He didn’t tell someone in Brooklyn or Queens that their wife was dead.
True… But if he had, that still wouldn’t qualify him to President. Maybe Fire Chief, but not President.
You know, you guys are hard on me on this $9.11 deal but it wasn’t my idea. I told the crew to make it $9,011 but they said it would keep the little people who pay taxes out of the event so I said fine, cheap it but we’ll get them little bastards later on immigration taxes. And as for me exploiting the event that made my future you don’t know my sensitive side. I still dress up in my own mother’s clothing. When me and my wife went down to Ground Zero one night, we came across a bone that we later found out was a Twin Tower victim’s finger tip. We immediately embossed, chained it and now proudly wear it around my neck. If you guys don’t elect me, you’ll be sorry.
I agree with John C. on this one. The Mass Media response is pretty much across the board as outrage.
Any time a Republican uses the numbers nine and eleven in the same breath, the Media goes for the jugular.
I find the double standard pretty cut and dry. When Slick Willie used the Oklahoma City Disaster to tar and feather every Republican in order to get re-elected, the Mass Media was in lock step and did a lot of mud slinging themselves.
Where was the outrage about that? There was no outrage because it helped Democrats and hurt Republicans, plain and simple. The opposite is happening today with the WTC disaster. Evoking 9/11 helps Republicans and hurts Democrats so we must tar and feather the Republicans, again.
Giuliani would make a bad president. So would every other candidate in both parties (except maybe Ron Paul).
In 2008, we will have to carefully consider which candidate sucks the least and then vote them in. Probably Hillary.
Great picture of Rudy. I saw the ventriloquist on TV last night with the old grouch doll and this picture of Rudy looks just like the dummy. Is that redundant. I never have liked Rudy’s politics and agree with others all he ever did was capitalize on the 9-11 attacks.
>>Evoking 9/11 helps Republicans and hurts Democrats
wtf planet are you from?
I’ll add my voice to most of the others. JCD is way off on this one.
@28 “Evoking 9/11 helps Republicans and hurts Democrats so we must tar and feather the Republicans, again.”
Actually, to me I just find it annoying. 9/11 was 6 years ago and I don’t live in New York.
I was sad about 9/11 for maybe 3 or 4 years, but it’s time to move on!
/I’m pretty much apolitcal so I’m not too interested in what regurgitated crap about 9/11 helps or hurts whichever corrupt party.
