Fort Huachuca, the nation’s largest intelligence-training center, changed security measures in May after being warned that Islamist terrorists, with the aid of Mexican drug cartels, were planning an attack on the facility. Fort officials changed security measures after sources warned that possibly 60 Afghan and Iraqi terrorists were to be smuggled into the U.S. through underground tunnels with high-powered weapons to attack the Arizona Army base, according to multiple confidential law enforcement documents obtained by The Washington Times.” The Afghanis and Iraqis shaved their beards so as not to appear to be Middle Easterners.” According to the FBI advisory, each Middle Easterner paid Mexican drug lords $20,000 “or the equivalent in weapons” for the cartel’s assistance in smuggling them and their weapons through tunnels along the border into the U.S. The weapons would be sent through tunnels that supposedly ended in Arizona and New Mexico, but the Islamist terrorists would be smuggled through Laredo, Texas, and reclaim the weapons later.[…]A number of the Afghans and Iraqis are already in a safe house in Texas, the FBI advisory said.

I heard this on the radio driving home tonight. As far as I know, no one else has reported it. Is this more Govt. FUD, or the real thing?

  1. Awake says:

Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris and Keifer Sutherland have been notified of the threat, and will protect us all just like they have protected us in threats like this in the past.

Bruce can drive a car into a flying helicopter, and jump onto the tail of a hovering jet… Chuck know 27 ways to kill you with just his stare… an Keifer will manage to infiltrate the bad guys organization by being kidnapped and escaping 5 times within 24 hours…

Or if nothing else, they can incorporate the ridiculous scenario described in the article into some ridiculous script in their next blow everything up movie…

The title of the article is “Fort plot ‘not valid or credible'”.

#30- you are an idiot….How is this Bush’s fault?? its not…This particular incident is an obvious example of a reporter trying to make a buck….He saw a CLASSIFIED FBI report that stated that the attack could be taking place, but was not verified…and that they were telling the Base what they had heard just in case something happened….The reporter went for the big headline and now you blame bush for fear mongering. The government didnt do anything wrong here. The FBI heard about something, wrote a report, notified the base that was a target (again…just in case), and then investigated the report. How is this an example of Bush trying to bread fear???? YOu should be angry at the reporter, not Bush. However, as a moderate, I must tell you that the leftward leaning media does the same thing. Remember Dan Rather or the just about everything the NY Times reports.

I do agree with you on one thing though…Most people don’t like Bush…But just because you don’t like him; it doesn’t mean that he is responsible for everything that is bad in the world. Obviously you are liberal #30; along with most of the people posting on this blog…As I said before, I am a moderate…..dont you think your liberal stance might skew your view a little. It obviously has here, because Bush had nothing to do with this story being written.

Remember, Clinton made his share of mistakes when it comes to terrorism and bin laden. Remeber that America was attacked multiple times before 911, by Bin Laden. (i.e. 2 US embassy bombings in Africa, Condo housing US military in Saudi Arabia, the USS cole, etc.) Yet Clinton did nothing. As reported by the discovery channel on a documentary on the subject, the CIA had a team trailing bin laden during most of Clinton’s term as president. He had the golden opportunity to take bin laden out using a predator drone, but Clinton chose not to. He also had 2 other verifiable incidents in which he had the opportunity to take bin laden out and decided not to. All of this prior to 911. All of this let Bin Laden continue his rise to power. I find it funny that Hillary now wants to question Bush for his actions…yet the actions (or lack there of) of her husband guaranteed that Bin Laden was still alive and funcitoning on 911. Also, the Clinton era military downsizing creating a situation in which we had half of the available ground troops for the second invasion of Iraq as we had in the original one. We sent 300,000 troops in at one time in the first Gulf War. We sent a third of that the second time…That is not Bush’s fault, that is Clinton’s. Both parties share responsiblity for what has happened. The one thing our government has done on a bi-partisan basis is ignore terrorism for the past 30 years. That is how we got to where we are today.

Argue with Bush all you want (I do), but don’t let your hatred of Bush down play the terrorist threat we do face. Remember, Osama and his cronies are the same people who chased the Soviet Union from the Middle East. His soldiers are motivated, dedicated, talented, and extremely ruthless. To argue that terrorism is not a threat is purely idiotic. Have you not seen pictures of the Middle East? Have you not seen the destruction that Bin Laden’s influence has caused in Indonesia, Africa, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and the US? I can understand why you dislike Bush, but why allow that to cloud your judgement and make claims that he only uses terror threats to manufacture fear. Where you not afraid on 911?

#30, Mr Fusion “Because it is on Bush’s watch.”
So now GWB is responsible for everything printed in the newspapers now. Would it be more the fault of “The Washington Times” Editorial Staff for letting a non-story like this being published? Even from their own story, if you read correctly you can tell this is a non story. Don’t forget that Newspapers are trying to sell papers to make money.

Were do you think the phase “If it bleeds it leads comes from”.

Plus the original info is from May 2007. If this would have come from the White House I would agree with you then. Read #33 link the Government said this was dead with in days back in May anyway.

  5. Don’t you guys know that everything is Bush’s fault? The “Blame Bush” rhetoric spreads just as much FUD as news articles like this.I say a bumper sticker earlier today that said “Religion… a good excuse to avoid thinking.” Just replace Religion with “Blame Bush” and you would have the same thing. If it seems I’m equating Bush-bashing with religion (and it is a religion these days no matter how you spin it), then there may yet be hope for you.

Let the abuse by the classy liberal Americans begin.
