Brick trinity

I was always told that Christianity was a monotheistic religion but I want to challenge that because clearly it is not. First the definitions:

  • No Gods – Atheism
  • One God – Monotheism
  • Two or more Gods – Polytheism

First, I’m not even going through the “Holy Ghost” thing except to say that “Trinity” means 3 and 3 > 1.

Assuming that:

  1. God is a deity
  2. Jesus is a deity
  3. Jesus and God are individuals

Then God and Jesus are two and 2 > 1.

Therefore Christianity is polytheism.

Polytheism isn’t a matter of belief. I personally am a Realist and I don’t believe any of it. However when one objectively classifies religious beliefs based on the number of gods, I’m counting two. Some would count three, but either is greater than one.

The reference is the Bible. According to the stories Jesus and God are two individuals. God was in the Old Testament, Jesus was not. Jesus was born of a virgin, God was not. Jesus addresses God as a separate individual. They have different stories. They have different roles. That talk to each other the way separate people talk.

The bottom line is – they are both deities and they are two individuals. Therefore Christianity is a polytheistic religion.

  1. Matthew says:

Sorry everyone I hope I didnt give the wrong idea.

I am a Christian, and am not trying to act superior. I am sorry if it came out that way. I simply dont see this as a huge issue.

I guess for me it is simply a matter of faith. It is what I believe. I dont need proof.

One of the problems I find with these types of discussions is that it takes a couple comments, quotes, or points out of a greater context or whole, and to really understand the individual points it often requires a greater understanding of the whole. It is a fun and interesting conversation though.

  2. Matthew – your faith in christ is worth a chuckle. You should read scripture, the errors in scripture, and whatever you do please don’t assume that anyone (esp. Jews) wants to hear anything about your jesus, enough people bug us about their false “god”‘s…Just throwing that out there. 😉

  3. And I’m Jewish and I’m not trying to act superior, but sometimes it’s hard to hide perfection 😉

  4. Hey Musty,

I’ve got a question for you. Are the newbie wackos on the site today making my point well enough? Is religion as evil as I’ve been saying it is? No?

Perhaps you need to reread a couple of your own posts today. Perhaps your mythical Jesus character would love a Jew enough to allow him/her to change religions. Perhaps your mythical creature even did just that.

Or perhaps it’s all a heaping steaming mound of dung designed to get people to hate each other just the way is happening on this blog.

    Mr. Dvorak,

There have been numerous mentions of Hitler & nazis on this thread, including by me. Perhaps it’s time to invoke Godwin’s Law. This thread is way out of control.

  5. Jey, where did all the hatred and anger come from? I’m glad I’m not in the same state as you, you sound dangerous! You better take a chill pill before you stroke out!

And if you ever come across an instance of me attempting to “push [my] relgion” on others, let me know, won’t you? Unlike a lot of Atheists I know, I have no need to push my religion on anyone, or to (attempt to) ridicule them for not believing the same thing I do.

  6. Matthew says:

    Hey Mr. Rabbi

I didnt think I was pushing my views on anyone. But I would be interested in hearing the errors in scripture. By the way good second post! LOL

  7. bobbo says:

Hey Bayou Rabbi — I went to your website. Just started today? Congrats.

I like the line about Christ being the biggest lie in the world==but only because it reminds me of the same line, only better because it is spoken by Satan, as in, “The biggest lie is getting people to think I don’t exist.”

I didn’t see any “proof” that Christ is not part of god though. I’ll read your entry more closely later though.

Bible thumpers–old or new or combined. Give it a good whack!!!!

  8. >>Perhaps your mythical Jesus character would
    >>love a Jew enough to allow him/her to change
    >>religions. Perhaps your mythical creature
    >>even did just that.

Jeez, you’re getting a little hot under the collar too, Scottie!

And sure, changing religions is fine. Not only Jesus allows it, it’s pretty much globally accepted (except for hard-core rollers and some militant Atheists).

Changing ethnicity is a little tricker, though, as physical attributes aren’t switch with an “I believe” or a “hallelujah”. A redhead can deny being a redhead, claim they’re a blonde, or even dye his or her hair. They’re still a redhead.

  9. Matthew, click on my name it will take you to a page with a lot of evidence concerning the errors in your scripture. I’m not telling you that having faith in your messiah is bad (it is funny though) I’m just telling you not to come to Jews with your christ crap. and no need for the Mr…Rabbi will do just fine 😉

  10. J says:

    Mr. Mustard

“Jey, where did all the hatred and anger come from?”

    Not anger. It is frustration.

“I’m not in the same state as you, you sound dangerous! ”

First How do you know? Second Very!!!! in many ways. LOL

“Unlike a lot of Atheists I know, I have no need to push my religion on anyone”

Atheists is not a religion by its very definition and by the definition of religion.

LETS EXAMINE THE RACIST STATEMENT YOU MADE. Not the statement you claim I am upset about.

“AND for those pushy folks from Noo Yawk.” – Mr. Mustard

” I know plenty of Jews. Some from Israel, some from Noo Yawk Schitty”- Mr. Mustard

“If you really think that being Asian (in the “Oriental” sense)”- Mr. Mustard

“Pointing out obvious differences among the piglets is not racist.”- Mr. Mustard

“Tsk, Boboli. Blame it on the Jews.”- Mr. Mustard

Don’t you see a pattern here? Others do.

Take a look in the mirror do you have a white hood on? or are you shaved bald? Oh I see you are one of those hidden racist. It only come out when you are pushed.

  11. Bobbo, Give it time I just started it today. When I’m not in class I will post on various topics concerning the lie that is christ, so keep checking back. There are so many areas where one can expose the lie so keep comin’ back 😉

  12. >>Atheists is not a religion by its very
    >>definition and by the definition of religion.

    Snore. New here, are ya?

    >>Oh I see you are one of those hidden racist.
    >>It only come out when you are pushed.

Snore. If I ever feel pushed by you, son, I’ll be sure to let you know.

    >>First How do you know? Second Very!!!!
    >>in many ways. LOL

I know all, see all, Jey. As to your dangerousity, heh heh. You seem more like a spittle-flecked kook, truth be told.

  13. J says:

Yeah once again racist to the core

    My name is J

It took me a second on that one. but you are now with out a doubt a FUCKING RACIST!

  14. FRAGaLOT says:

Don’t forget that there is also this notion that “God is in everyone of us.” so really there’s about 5 billion Gods in this world. Give or Take a few 100 million. 🙂

Truth is, humans are flawed, the bible was written by humans. Therefore the bible is flawed, as well as the READER is open to bad interpretation and flawed translations. There’s your trinity, which is really one in the same; humans!

Funny thing is, this is the most pointless topic ever, all it does is piss people off. Can we move on to something more important?

  15. Nothing is more important than putting christians in their place concerning their “messiah”

  16. J says:

    Mr. Mustard

“As to your dangerousity, heh heh. You seem more like a spittle-flecked kook, truth be told”

    Care to test that?

  17. J says:

    Mr Mustard

And don’t you ever call me your son PRICK!

  18. >>It took me a second on that one. but you
    >>are now with out a doubt a FUCKING RACIST!

I think there are a lot of things that have taken you a lot more than “a second”, son.

You better cut down on the Tabasco Sauce, cabrón. You’re way too excitable.

  19. bobbo says:

#161–J==I’ll answer for Mustardo, not because he cant, but because he doesn’t like to get specific, I think on some subconscious level he sees the errors in his posts and just pig headedly doesn’t want to admit error.

You post his examples of racisms==and my understanding follows:

“AND for those pushy folks from Noo Yawk.” – Mr. Mustard/// This is a cultural comment about accents. Think it comes from a bar-b-cue sauce commericial? You saying (brand name) is racist as are the major networks for showing it?

” I know plenty of Jews. Some from Israel, some from Noo Yawk Schitty”- Mr. Mustard /// See above. Whats the complaint here?

“If you really think that being Asian (in the “Oriental” sense)”- Mr. Mustard //// He explained his distinction well, and it made sense. Is merely identifying a chinese person as oriental now a racist statement????

“Pointing out obvious differences among the piglets is not racist.”- Mr. Mustard /// Won’t take the time to go back and find it but again, YOU appear to be some kind of “word fascist”==cant say shit, oriental, or piglet? How open to differring points of view is that?

“Tsk, Boboli. Blame it on the Jews.”- Mr. Mustard /// Context controls here. If the Jews did “it” cant they be called on “it?” And if they didn’t do it, is that racist, or just wrong?

Don’t you see a pattern here? Others do. //// The pattern I see is that YOU are uncomfortable talking about racial issues.

Now, prove me wrong by going back to your examples, in the context provided by the original posts, and show the connection to racist non-think. this should be easy as we are talking about Mustardo here==but not from the posting you have made.

Take a look in the mirror do you have a white hood on? or are you shaved bald? Oh I see you are one of those hidden racist. It only come out when you are pushed.

  20. PoliticallyVeryCorrect says:

    # 154 The Bayou Rabbi said
“And I’m Jewish and I’m not trying to act superior, but sometimes it’s hard to hide perfection”

you mean “the king” is naked”? 😉
don’t worry, we all see your ‘perfection’ 😀

  21. =====this should be easy as we are talking
    =====about Mustardo here==

Nobody’s done it yet, Bobalina ========== and I seriously doubt that Mister J HypertensiveCrisis has it in him to do so.

He’s got such a bug up his bum about classifying everything as “racist” (whether or not it is) that I think he’s lost his common sense.

  22. you see my perfection? can I show you something in an 8 or an 8 and 1/2? haha

  23. the Three-Headed Cat says:

    #115 – M Scott

The time and place have come to set you and your ideological brethren straight. I’m on a roll, and I think the whole message can be summed up thusly:

“Only 70-80,000 years ago, there were just 3-7,000 humans on the entire planet. We’re all really closely related cousins.”

And those people went in different directions and set up shop in different places with different environmental conditions. And those groups, by breeding mainly with others who were (a) similar to themselves and / or (b) geographically proximate, diverged genetically.

And today we have humans of different genetic backgrounds, who have different traits, abilities, characteristics. Each and every group is better at some things than other groups and most, while not all, of those groups’ members, tend greatly to exhibit the physical and mental traits which the environment and culture of their ancestors selected for. It’s a little-known thingie called ‘evolution by natural selection.’ You may have heard of it.

    “Please stop the racist B.S.”

Unfortunately, rather than remaining scientifically detached from the subject matter and maintaining rational objectivity in attempting to untangled the skein of human development, you have emotionally attached yourself to a modern-day politico-social ideology and that emotional attachment to what you subjectively perceive as morally “right” effectively blinds you to reality. Your chosen ideology of “equality”-über-alles dishonestly attributes nonexistent value judgments to those objective observers who correctly perceive that racial groups do exist and that members of those groups exhibit intrinsic, heritable traits, within certain degrees of variation.

IOW, your ideology – PC – dictates the falsehood (usually in the form of the ad hominem fallacy) that recognizing that racial and ethnic differences between groups exist and can be measured is equal to being unfairly and irrationally biased against certain of those groups. To reframe, your argument, which is purely ideological in nature is this accusation: “You say that group A is different from group B. Therefore you are claiming that group A is superior to group B.” And that is bullshit, plain and simple.

If Jew is not a heritable ethnicity, then gentiles would be exactly as susceptible to Tay-Sachs disease as persons descended from Ashkenazi Jews. And they are not.

If Negroid is not a heritable ethnicity, then Caucasoids would exhibit the same likelihood of developing sickle-cell anemia. And they do not.

One day you’ll start thinking with your mind instead of with your emotions and you’ll discard that whole Marxist-derived pile of politically motivated propaganda and realize that people are not equal. Nobody is equal. Ever. Anywhere, under any circumstances.

That society should accord all humans the same rights and privileges is a noble and supremely important goal. Pretending that everyone is identical to everyone else gets us no closer to that goal, in fact it impedes it greatly, as it places “feel-good” politics over scientific reality.

Equal ≠ identical. We’re all equally human. Not one of us is identical to any other one of us who ever lived or ever will live. Members of different groups bring different mixes of strengths and weaknesses to the table. One group is better at this thing, another group is better at doing that one. That does not mean, contrary to PC bullshit, that one group is “superior” to another. And PC depends on dishonestly browbeating people and brainwashing them into thinking that equality means no one is better at something than someone else, which is a childish fantasy.

You’ve seen the irrationality of religion and the fairytales and emotion it relies on. Now you need to continue to learn, and grow, and leave the equally backwards, divisive and useless PC behind.

Men are not women. Blacks are not whites. And saying that does not make one biased against men, women, blacks OR whites. Are you capable of grasping that?

…and I intend to ignore any adolescent sniping at typos. So FOIA, which does not mean ‘Freedom of Information Act,’ but ‘fuck off in advance.’ 🙂

  24. PoliticallyVeryCorrect says:

#173 I lost you here. Im not a scholar of your religion, I actually detest your religion too, so it should be obvious i have no clue what you mean?

For a Rabbi protecting jews from christians you seem alot like a Jew-Evangelist trying to convert us 🙂

  25. J says:

    bobbo #170

“You saying (brand name) is racist as are the major networks for showing it?”

You don’t understand the history of being a Jew.

    “Whats the complaint here?”

    He called them pushy

“He explained his distinction well, and it made sense.”

I dispelled his explanation. It is incorrect because that trait exists in Africa as well as through out all of Asia.

“Is merely identifying a Chinese person as oriental now a racist statement????”

Yes and it has been for a while now.

“YOU appear to be some kind of “word fascist”==cant say shit, oriental, or piglet? How open to differing points of view is that?”

It appears you don’t know the history of racism well at all.

“Context controls here. If the Jews did “it” cant they be called on “it?” And if they didn’t do it, is that racist, or just wrong?”

Once again you don’t know the history of anti-Semitism do you? the phrase Blame it on the Jews was one of the rally cries for the Nazi’s

“The pattern I see is that YOU are uncomfortable talking about racial issues.”

Not at all but I won’t sit back and allow someone to go unchallenged when the spout racist statements and ideas.

“but not from the posting you have made.”

How exactly is my statement racist?

  26. The Monster's Lawyer says:

What is all this crap about. I thought everyone believed in Polyester. If you lived during the Disco ’70s then you must have at least dabbled in this religious movement. My favorite was the pastel green one with white belt and shoes.

  27. No, I don’t want christians anywhere near my religion; I don’t think they are capable of the study and commitment required by Judaism. I just strive to make evangelists question their faith so that they will leave Jews alone. And become depressed…either way I feel good about myself.

  28. bobbo says:

#172–mustardo, when you won’t accept that a – theism means “without religion” then I agree that no-one will be able to shine light into your dark areas.

As it takes two fools to have an argument, I decline. I lost a google reference but anyone could find similar that there is an established liturgy regarding the difference between soft and hard atheism with hard atheism being more the type of “religion” you want to make it.

Still, its interesting to see you make the same word play with “race vs ethnic” as you do with “atheism is religion.” You might actually honestly think this way, but I see more education and intelligence than such a proposition would support.

    Flame on.

  29. Glenn E. says:

Wow! 144 responses, in so short a time. Must be a hot topic, with Christmas looming and all. And what’s up with all this general Christian bashing,
this December? Have the atheists and cultists taken over everything?

Think of the “3 in 1” deal like this. We have one single governing federal body, in the USA. But it exists in three part. One makes the laws, one interprets the laws, and one carries out the laws. And supposedly this is a better solution (or at least it use to be) than giving all the power to just one entity. You wouldn’t want a King George Bush II, would you? Probably not. So three entities carrying the load, works better at representing the will of the people, and being just (or at least appearing to).

  30. PoliticallyVeryCorrect says:

    #174 Excellent post.
But its message will be lost in probably very few next replies from all christian and jewish idiots (i mean believers)…
