My wife and I went to Orlando for a few days after Xmas and stayed in a very upscale four star hotel. I had seen this report before I left and the first thing I did after checking in was inspect the glasses in the room. They had finger prints and lip prints on them and obviously had only been rinsed out. This is a widespread problem in this country with all the legal and illegal Hispanic hotel maids. I guess they were raised to different standards in their country.

“My tip would be: never stay at the hotel that you own stock in, because your interest as a shareholder is different from your interest as a customer”
That would be funny if it wasn’t true! You could probably say the same thing about being an employee of a company you hold stock in; conflicting interests.
#59, Jim,
For an indepth article from the Harvard International Review concerning economic development and prosperity.
Spirit of Capitalism, Religion and Economic Development
#66 biz traveller said If you’re in the mood to see overworked, underpaid, couldn’t give a rip housekeeping at any hotel 1-5 stars, have a trip to Beijing for the olympics.
LOL! Yes, for some odd reason Beijing really sucks on many levels! I have wondered this myself late last year when we were there. There are better hotels in smaller cities like Yantai and Qingdao nearby to the southeast.
I can see all these foreigners coming into Beijing for the Olympics getting really pissed off right out from the airport when they discover no one speaks English and taxi drivers have no clue what “Hotel” means much less the name! HAHAHAHA!
What the Chinese government has done for foreigners in Beijing is the “5 star toilets” which do not require you to wear ‘hazmats’ suits to use. Its funny as hell to see the ‘5 Star’ toilet rating signs.
My wife and I can’t wait for the follies to begin in Beijing.
By the way Beijing’s smog and haze is mostly dust from the encroaching desert. For really dirty stinking air go to any industrial city which sounds like that’s where you have been. Other cities are surprising quite ok such as Yantai and Qingdao (where the beer comes from). Even Shanghai is quite ok for its population of 16m and where I live.
You are right about the food too! Chunks of fried pork fat in oil. However Chinese will tell you that McDonalds is bad for you and will make you fat. :/
Cheers
Here’s the delio my friends: Management is not getting clean glassware to the housekeepers in a timely manner. Think about it : (as an hourly laborer) is it easier to replace used glassware with an abundant supply of properly sanitized units, or take the time to ‘wash ‘ them in the sink? Training may be an issue (still management’s
responsibility), but it is more likely a problem
with poor execution and resource allocation.

“Chunks of fried pork fat in oil”
Interesting, I had always heard that “americanized Chinese food” (which I enjoy) was much unhealthier than what they ate in China.
Here stateside before I will eat in a Chinese (or any) restaurant I go into the restrooms and see if they are clean. The Chinese seem to run about 50% for clean restrooms here where I live, interestingly the “authentic Mexican” restaurants are about 75% clean restrooms. Of course that’s my observation, not documented data! 🙂
There is truth in the idea that different cultures have different standards (regarding anything). But I don’t think that this is the problem. The real problem is the standards of the hotel and the management team. This is NOT rocket science, they only need to take the old dishes to get cleaned and place new dishes instead. This is really simple. Furthermore, employees are not responsible for the standard of the hotel – the management are.
Blaming the employee that he/she was born in Mexico and thus cannot properly clean a glass is ridiculous. And if he/she doesn’t know how to clean a glass for some insane reason, TEACH THEM!!!
The fish always smells from the head.
I’d love to see how you white mother Fers would clean those glasses if you were making the wages that these poor women are making.
#38 CS
Thanks for the link. It’s a bit convoluted, but interesting just the same. I’m curious how these numbers will skew once they add data from Asian and Middle East countries.
You think that’s bad? Try staying in a hotel that is in a soviet block country, now that is bad my friend.
#64 – T_H
“opps”??? ‘Black ops?’ ‘Covert ops?’ Ohhh, you mean OOPS… (it takes two ‘O’s to signify the ‘oo’ sound)
Anyway, let’s see what pearls of wisdom you’ve been kind enough to drop on us.
“Over time the influences of what I previously outlined filters into the general culture. The ignorant, lazy, no brain, third world peasants who already think they are the best so there is no need to change, change.”
Who said ‘lazy’? You. Who said ‘no brain’? You.
Anyway, peasant are peasant everywhere, in relation to their own societies. But peasants from one society can differ significantly from peasants in others.
“Asians, particularly Chinese, are very firm that their culture is in no need of change at all and certainly not in any way any changes from the west – period.”
Gee, that’s totally at odds with what I said earlier:
Peasants from Mexico, Serbia, India, China, Malaysia, Zimbabwe, Ecuador – they all have the same thing in common. They all believe, against all the evidence, that their culture is the best. This is called ‘ethnocentrism’
Thx 4 the correction. I must write that down: “Chinese peasants do not see need to change.”
“People with more money have the opportunity to get educated. The more educated the people are the more sophisticated they become and so on.”
Sorry, chum. You need to preface your statement, “ASIAN people with more money…”
What you don’t grasp is the higher average intelligence of Asians versus Hispanics. Even among the peasantry, it still holds. A Chinese peasant is at or above the threshold of intelligence needed to recognize the value of education. The Hispanic peasant is not. Intelligence, knowledge, education are not valued equally among the world’s ethnicities. A Chinese peasant makes more money, they will seek education – if not for themselves, for their children. An Hispanic peasant makes more money, he buys a big TV or chrome rims for his F-150. I observe, at very close range, every day, this behavior.
“The cultures ’south of the border’ are more apt to change with positive influences and they need to be economic. Education et al.”
Nope. Those among Hispanic peasantry who are farsighted enough to make best use of increased opportunity are in the minority.
It’s quite amusing, the simplistic notions you entertain about people. Give Mexican peasants better wages, you fantasize, and before you know it, they’ll be driving their Volvos down to Starbucks to pick up a decaf mocha Frappuccino and the fucking New York Review of Books before their yoga session. You’re a riot, T_H, you know that?
“By your yardstick then, what in particular makes the US culture superior to the “third world peasants” down south? Education? Need money for that…opps!”
Nope. What has led to American social, cultural and economic dominance in the world is the mixing of cultures and ethnicities – naturally occurring, not enforced by PC multiculti bullshit – with the resultant hybrid vigor. We got to where we are because Irish, Germans, Italians, English, French, usw, came together and were faced with the necessity of adopting a new language and new ways, bringing positive contributions from their native lands and dropping the old, dysfunctional ones, many of which no longer had any relevance to their new lives in a new world. This was unplanned and serendipitous – that’s why it worked, and why mandated, enforced “diversity” and “multiculturalism” don’t.
Hispanic peasant culture does not place value on behavior which promotes the benefit of the group over the individual. Asian ‘groupthink’ does. That’s the reason why your Asian peasants will accept change, because the greater importance of social cohesion over individual satisfaction is recognized.
The same contrast is perfectly exemplified in the relative contributions of East and West to technology. Germans invented the automobile, and to this day, design and build the most mechanically precise and intricate vehicles. Asians came late to the party, didn’t invent but instead imitated what worked and applied group effort to it, the result being cars that don’t break new ground, but are better-balanced, more refined than the ones they’re copies of. Hence, Lexus builds a less-original, but all-around better Mercedes than Mercedes can.
During the hayday of supercomputing, NEC, Toshiba, Fujitsu, with their typically Oriental groupthink and with tons of money to throw at the problem, could not come up with a supercomputer that could compete with the designs of one single man, a product of Western individualism, Seymour Cray. On paper, their machines were obviously technically superior. But in the real world, they lacked the standout design necessary to excel, because Japanese culture places individual initiative and achievement below group identity and social harmony in importance. So, no great individual designer like Cray.
To this day, America dominates state-of-the-art audio electronics, because of the individual inspirations of American designers. Instead, the Orientals specialize in efficiently turning out very high-quality, but generally uninspired equipment in huge numbers, with bountiful features and clever implementations. But collectors items are the ones realized by individuals with the need – AND the opportunity – to express their own personal vision.
This is changing, of course, with the inevitable intertwining and homogenization of individual economies and markets, but the people change more slowly.
The Mexicans have had a long time, and no shortage of opportunities to change, to adapt, to succeed, a lot moreso than Asians. The reason they haven’t is not from lack of a chance or the resources to do so, it’s because their collective thinking and value systems have remained stuck in the past, while that of others has not.
And T_H – when I need your input on any matters related to the social sciences, particularly social and cultural anthopology or social psychology, I’ll let you know. But don’t stay home waiting for my call. Because I grossly oversimplify things for you and omit tons of arcane detail does not mean I’m some asshole with a GED sitting on a barstool shooting my mouth off. You seem to keep forgetting, on the Internet, no one knows you’re a dog – and no one knows if you’re NOT a dog, either.
Well, if you have learned nothing else from the foregoing, at least you now know how to speeel “oops”… 🙂
#71 Sying Flaucer said Interesting, I had always heard that “americanized Chinese food” (which I enjoy) was much unhealthier than what they ate in China.”
Oh, NO WAY! There is a common expression in Shanghai for new foreigners here getting the “Shanghai stone” – Stone is an old British measure of weight 1 stone = 14 pounds. Most Chinese food is laden with fat and oil and don’t forget the MSG.
In doing this you would probably never go to a restaurant in China! LOL! Only the higher class Chinese restaurants are clean.
Maybe the Mexican restaurants have ‘white trailer trash’ cleaning the rest rooms! LOL That would make sense wouldn’t it? My wife and I as we travel a lot and we compare other countries rest rooms to Chinese rest rooms. So far the Chinese by a country mile have the gold – they are the dirtiest with a smell that can kill!
Cheers
#76 the Three-Headed Cat™
So its important for you to have a go at my typo? LOL! Great! Start swinging at the pitcher rather than the ball!! 😆 OOPS!!!
“Who said ‘lazy’? You. Who said ‘no brain’? You.”
You certainly made it clear to me and others that these people are as you put it
like ALL backwards peasant cultures, is made up principally of people whose average level of intelligence is below that needed to recognize that their culture has serious problems and needs to change.
Let me ask you this. I lived out of the US for 25 years living and working in other countries most of the time in these ‘backward cultures’ you speak of – so what’s the depth of your first hand experience from which you can draw your conclusions?
Its true, as you pointed out, that on the Internet we can be anyone we want to be. So you want to be a bigot? 😆 That’s funny! I and others can see you have issues with races and cultures you deem inferior to yourself.
Your reactions are no surprise however as I said – you started swinging at the pitcher rather than the ball!
Enjoy that taco de harina! 😉
Cheers
#77 TIHZ HO
“Maybe the Mexican restaurants have ‘white trailer trash’ cleaning the rest rooms!”
That’s a funny angle, but fact is the “white trash” I know don’t know a mop from a broom! that’s part of what makes them “white trash”.
Like most people I’m not thrilled with the whole “illegal” thing, but I have to honestly say ~most~ of the Mexicans around here (rural Ohio) are pretty decent hard working people.
#79 Sying Flaucer – “don’t know a mop from a broom”…an which end to hold as well. 🙂
I have to agree, I am not too happy about the “illegal” alien thing either no matter hard working they are.
In my opinion their presence (from any country) causes ill will and does little in helping others who wish to legally immigrate.
On another point I do believe that any person who wishes to immigrate to another society and culture must be prepared to assimilate and accept differences as much as possible.
Cheers
T_H
For a “typo” it’s pretty consistent. Maybe you need to use a different keyboard layout. Dvorak, maybe? John C. might be able to get you a discount. 🙂
As per usual, you manage to misconstrue commonly understood things. “No one knows you’re a dog” doesn’t only mean you can pose as someone other than who you really are… In the course of discussing a topic with another, you often cannot know if you’re talking to someone who wrote the book on that topic – or an opinionated, precocious teenager. Like you’re going to put more credence in my words if I claim to have three doctorates? Since claims of authority on the Tubes are as unverifiable as they are common, they’re useless. All you have to go on is what people say. And that’s where personalities come into play.
You’ve spent the last 25 years living outside the USA? Fine. If you say so. But firsthand observation of other societies is not as valuable as you seem to think it is, when the observer has no special qualifications for cultural observation and study beyond the traditional complement of two each, eyes and ears. Being on the spot doesn’t necessarily lend you any greater objectivity or insight than you already have.
You, you see things in the context of business and commerce. That doesn’t make you a social psychologist. Your lack of education and knowledge relative to human character and motivations does not increase because you go somewhere else; you simply have broader opportunities to make the same layperson’s uninformed and faulty judgments in a novel context. ‘Wherever you go, there you are’ is the operative phrase, the emphasis being on ‘you’.
I (and not just I) cannot help but notice how you skip past the examples I cite of the gross differences between, in those examples, the Asian and Hispanic differential in ability to adapt and accept change in their social context. Of course this is because the differences are painfully obvious.
I don’t need to leave the country to observe, firsthand and in depth, the different strategies adopted by Mexican and Chinese immigrants to latter-day urban America. The Chinese who arrive here set about learning the language and customs of the people around them in order to succeed. The Mexicans bring their culture with them and resist adaptation beyond the degree forced upon them by the necessities of obtaining employment. The Chinese take Western Christian names and dress like those they are living among. The Mexicans seek out businesses that will sell them the same clothes they wear in Mexico, the same food they eat in Mexico. They don’t pick up on elements of the common American culture, they are comfortable in grocery stores with Tejano music playing loudly on the PA, they surround themselves with other native speakers of their language rather than increase their opportunities and skillsets by learning the prevailing tongue. They automatically, ethnocentrically and chauvinistically reject American culture and thereby marginalize themselves and preemptively limit their opportunities to succeed.
The Chinese do not do these things. No one forces the Mexicans to reject American culture, and no one forces the Chinese to adapt to it.
That, my PC-brainwashed friend, is because they, collectively AND individually, THINK DIFFERENTLY FROM ONE ANOTHER. Capisce?
My Chinese sister-in-law and her siblings came to these shores as children with nothing whatsoever. Today, in late middle age, each of them has a net worth well in to seven figures. No handouts. No programs.
I can show you many Mexican immigrants here, second-, even third-generation. They speak poor English. They live as they did in Mexico, making no attempt whatsoever to adapt to life in the US. They still get pregnant in their teens and have more children than they can afford. They maintain a separate, insular culture within the surrounding American culture. No one stops them from doing as the Chinese -and Vietnamese and Koreans – here have done. There are more than enough of their people in positions of power and influence here that to suggest that anyone other than themselves is holding them back is ludicrous.
There is a level playing field, and if anything, it is biased in favor of Hispanics and against Asians. Yet given the same opportunities, in the very same social arena, the utterly astounding fact remains that the group which has been proven to exhibit higher average intelligence has done far better. Because equality of rights and equality of opportunity does not necessarily translate into equality of outcomes.
When the outcomes are not what liberal American ideologues hoped for, they reflexively trot out “prejudice.” But any prejudice here regarding Hispanics is in their favor, not against. Non-Hispanic whites are already long accustomed to and familiar with Mexican people and Mexican culture. Asians and their ways, on the other hand, are considerably more ‘alien’ to Texan sensibilities. But they go to work and succeed where a large segment of the Mexicans do not. In fact, Pakistanis, Iranis, Indians, Greeks, Thai, Italians, Albanians – they all have come to Texas and done very well. So please spare us all the nonsense suggestion that the Mexicans would do as well if only they got better wages.
Huge sections of Harris County are indistinguishable from Mexico. This is the reason why they don’t make the progress others do. This is why the conditions in their home country stay the same for hundreds of years.
As foul as Chinese toilets in public places may be, that is NEVER the case here. If anything, toilets in Chinese establishments are cleaner than their American counterparts. Because the Chinese noticed that that is the way things are done in America. That’s the way Americans like their toilets. Therefore, they change their ways to succeed. The majority of Mexicans do not. And therein lies the reason for their comparative lack of success, in a nutshell. Their ethnocentrism will not yield to expediency, because loyalty to their culture is more important than success. Nice, hard-working folks, sure. Who says they’re not? But that ain’t enough.
Which, at last, brings us to your statement:
“On another point I do believe that any person who wishes to immigrate to another society and culture must be prepared to assimilate and accept differences as much as possible.”
Good. Try convincing the Mexicans of that.
You people screaming “racism” are a bunch of idiots.
Read “Nickel and Dimed”. The workers are trained not to wash, only to wipe, surfaces. This is to save money spent on wages by cutting down on minutes spent cleaning per room. This is not about dirty immigrants, you #&@*, it’s about greedy American business. Talk to the MBAs who insist on this constant squeezing for more profits every quarter. You’re lucky they don’t make you clean your own room.
#84 You’re a smart guy and right on the mark! Hahaha! That’s exactly the reason why not just for hotels another is cable TV for one…paying to watch commercials when at first cable TV was billed as commercial free.
How many other services and products like cable TV have we as consumers been nickel and dimed on?
Cheers
Of that there’s no doubt… the relentless pressure for profit above all else is behind more of America’s problems than most people would even believe. What do you expect of a country that lionizes an asshole dweeb with more money than the FSM who continues to want more? When the people on top no longer know why they keep accumulating money they could never legitimately spend in 20 lifetimes and have no concept of what ‘enough’ means – how do you expect the sheeple to disapprove? The greedheads, no matter how much they’re bitched about, are not vilified but admired, most of all by their victims.
…yet another interesting contrast in cultures is the difference in behavior seen in discussions that take place in person and those that occur online.
One will note how when one loses an argument in person, that sportsmanship dictates that the loser concede – while on the InterWebTubicles, when one loses an argument, like TIHZ_HO here, for just a random example, one can simply duck out the back door and pretend no one noticed… dishonest and cowardly, yes, but the loser is not compelled to admit what is obvious to all and take a hit in the ego. 🙂
“Oh, I had a great rebuttal, it’s just that the the wife wanted me to check our pet iguana for Dutch Elm Disease…”
Don’t worry, T_H. If I didn’t notice, I’m sure no one else did either. 😛
#83 pedro
“I live there and have been to almost every country in south america (except 2) and different central american ones. They are all basically the same.”
First I think you are full of shit. The reason why? The second part of your statement. “They are all basically the same” Nice generic statement. Same how? In culture? Not even close. Same in government? Not even close. Same in geography? Not even close. Same in economic status? Not even close.
See one of your problems is you see a few things here and there and you make these sweeping generalities. Well, reality is quite different.
“And the ones that do want to work and do things right are the minority that are constantly being ridiculed and envyed by the dirty, uneducated mayority.”
Name me a culture where this isn’t the case. This is built into the human species as part of our pack mentality. It was once a survival behavior.
“White trash are poor becuase they neither have nor want education.”
Really? They don’t want education? Really? Not from what I see. Everyone I see either says they would like help in getting one or they whish they had received one. When they say the latter I ask them “why not start now?” and “If you had assistance would you follow through?” The answer is always YES! To this date there are thousands of “White trash” that have taken advantage of that offer and have brought themselves out of poverty with a good education and hard work. No matter what race or cultural background the answers are always the same. No one of any race or culture wants to be poor or uneducated. Part of the human condition is to aspire to the highest goals. Some have a better chance than others. Some can obtain it with much less effort. Some people recognize this and instead of criticizing those who are unfortunate attempt to equalize the situation. What have you done? It doesn’t require money. It only requires effort.
the Three Headed Cat #81 and all your other nonsense posts.
The problem with your argument is that you keep using the cultural differences as some kind of excuse for your comments. No one is arguing that there are not cultural differences. When that concept jumps from a legitimate discussion of culture to racism is when you use the cultural differences to denigrate or disparage. You have done that on several occasions. Not to mention the obvious racial issue you have with Hispanics. For instance
“We’ve had no shortage of bent Attorneys General here in Happyland, but the by-far worst, most blatantly dishonest one ever – the one who does, just like his countrymen, exactly what his masters want, so he’ll be cut in on the take – is – wait for it… a MEXICAN.” – the three headed cat
“What you don’t grasp is the higher average intelligence of Asians versus Hispanics” – the three headed cat
“Here’s the shocker – the cop taking the bribes? MEXICAN. Not black, not white, not Asian. – and NOT A COINCIDENCE.” – the three headed cat
“A Chinese peasant makes more money, they will seek education – if not for themselves, for their children. An Hispanic peasant makes more money, he buys a big TV or chrome rims for his F-150” – the three headed cat
Not only are these statements racist. Some are incorrect in their assumptions. I will let you figure out which ones. Here is a hint. All of them.
I don’t expect much from you. Most racists don’t think they are racists and would never admit to being such. They instead think that there negative beliefs are justified therefore not racist. Well guess what? YOUR WRONG!
Something I just thought about
pedro and the three headed asshole both claim that poor uneducated Mexicans don’t want to be educated and don’t care. If that is the case then why do we have such a problem with all the illegals filling our schools and getting an education. My bet is that you both will come up with some racist remark to justify your previous statements.
Sorry pal, but genetic science is behind me. Behind you is PC left-wing cultural-Marxist propaganda. You are brainwashed. You are every bit in complete opposition to known scientific fact as young-Earth creationists and global warming deniers.
Sheeple, parroting your “everybody’s identical” bullshit. Go learn something about the genetic differences between ethnicities and how those differences have guided their cultural development. Then go sit down and STFU. 🙂
#46 the three headed buttmunch
Yeah I had to respond to this nonsense too.
““Muslims blow themselves up and otherwise commit suicide and take innocent lives with them.” is not the same as “Virtually all suicide bombings are done by Muslims”
You said originally “Muslims blow themselves up and otherwise commit suicide and take innocent lives with them” which make the assumption that Muslims as a group partake in this activity. Not true anymore that Christians like to molest boys or blow up abortion clinics. Just because Virtually all suicide bombings are committed by Muslims, a statement that is in itself debatable. Just as the statement that all abortion clinic bombings are committed by Christians would be debatable as that is not in the teachings of Christ to murder people or molest boys for that matter. But for the sake of argument lets all agree that “Virtually all suicide bombings are committed by Muslims”. That is very different in meaning from “Muslims blow themselves up and otherwise commit suicide and take innocent lives with them” which is what you first said. So maybe you mis-typed or perhaps you don’t see the difference which makes your statement even more racist than it initially was.
Oh then I saw this while going to post.
“Sorry pal, but genetic science is behind me.” “You are every bit in complete opposition to known scientific fact as young-Earth creationists and global warming deniers.”
LOL really show me your peer reviewed evidence that backs up anything you have said. Genetic Science? Really? That is going to be your argument. Wow, I thought you were dumb but not that dumb. You like Dr. James Watson should really stop and think before you make such blatantly false and racist statements. I will make it plain and clear for you. There IS NOT one valid peer reviewed piece of scientific evidence that backs up anything you claim in regards to genetics.
I am insulted that you would try to wrap your racist ignorant statements in the protective blanket of science.
#90–3HC==looks like you “FINALLY” got to the issue called for in your cage match and never actually got to. With the stupidity you posted here, I can see why.
If a debateable argument can be made there are IQ differences in the races as both terms are variously defined to make the argument work, do you really think “science” supports tendencies to social behavior?
Thanks J – – even a specific cage match could not get this position out of 3HC. Too bad. I’d love to see a well constructed (de-constructed) argument of pop theories based on Marxist philosophy==just to see how it would work. This ain’t it.
Pure rhetoric to make a distinction between “muslims” and “terrorist bombers who are muslims.” If you want to address the issue, you avoid the rhetoric. Dive in, otherwise.
#92 bobbo
Not sure about your interest in Marxist arguments. They are just as skewed as the arguments from the three headed idiot.
Also, not sure on your statement about rhetoric.
Just to be clear. I know as a matter of fact that most suicide bombers claim they do so in the name of Islam. That is a fact. But claiming that Muslims commit suicide bombings is very different in nature. Like I said that is equivalent to the statement that “Christians blow up abortion clinics”. While it is true that certain Christians do. It is not a behavior that represents Christians as a whole or even in a large percentage. Therefore it is false and bigoted in tone.
I don’t think it as rhetoric I see it more as a statement of fact
Well, what you are addressing is “rhetoric.” Using language effectively to please or persuade, to alienate or convince–usually without actually addressing the substance of the issue at hand.
Are Muslims terrorist bombers, are Fundies clinic bombers? As a general descriptor–no. As an element in a valid profiling algorithm–yes.
I’m not interested in Marxist theory except that a month ago 3HC made his big splash claiming posters at Dvorak were all stooges for being fooled by it–so–rather than reject it out of hand, I was interested in what 3HC could prove up. Turns out, nothing.

I have to ask you a serious question. Are you dyslexic? I hade a hard time understanding you because you inverted letters all over the place.
“yso you say white trash is not a burden to social security and they don’t live up to recieve whatever monies the government can give them rather than look for a job and have a better education.”
With SS you get an amount based on you income. “White Trash” which I assume you mean poor white people. They are not burdening the SS system anymore than a rich white guy. The problem with the SS system seems to be more toward the money management by the Fed. They forgot that the number of people paying in won’t always be greater than the money going out and decided to spend all that SS money on other things. But they forgot about the baby boomer generation
As far as other government programs. Getting a job would actually be worse for most poor because it would reduce their income and affect their ability to survive because they lose their funding in most programs if they earn an income. If you think any of these people enjoy being poor you are wrong. Getting a good education takes money with the exception of a scholarships which are limited.
“Not all illegals wnat ot get into the schools”
No kidding? Really? So what? Enough do that has become a problem in the US. There is a huge problem in the US with illegal immigrants filling the public school system. If it is a cultural thing why would there be so many?
About your Misery ring argument. Oh bull you have no evidence to back up any of your broad generic claims of “Most” or “majority” to describe a certain group of people. Besides what you describe is common in all cultures and all populations to varying degrees or forms. You have NO evidence that it is any more prevalent in the Hispanic culture than in any other.
Even in your own argument you admit the government had a role to play in the outcome.
“Now, the big city is the US and they think you live better by doing nothing. You live better because you’re taking away their share and not because you work.”
Really? People in America tend to lean toward the “They took our Jobs” racist view. So do they work too much or do they not work enough? Have you seen the debates in America we are having about the illegal work force in America? Try tuning into Lou Dobbs you might actually like his point of view.
“You may see the ones that want to get better. Good for you. I’m sorry to deflate you balloon, but they’re the minority of those you see.”
Really? What evidence do you have that the ones you see are not the minority? What evidence do you have about the number of poor Hispanics I come in contact with? Stop making such stupid statement because you can’t come up with a valid argument,
“You want to help them? good, but don’t go thinking they’re the majority and that there minority is only those that are filthy, lazy and sleaze, just like white trash.”
Again, Spoken like a true racist.
96–J==well, 3HC might join us later in the day after his nap to frame a debateable issue?
Why is our discussion not a good example of rhetoric?
But you do misuse terms of generalization to make your statements.
I do think one of many reasons that Mexicans have a harder time in our society is that they in fact moreso than other groups, do not value education. Please==that does not mean every single one of them do, nor even that a majority do==but would you deny that they are less cognizant of the importance of education than are whites, than are chinese?
To deny that is to deny the importance of culture. Such trait is not inbred (as I think 3HC wants us to think), but it is also not to be ignored for political correctness.

“But you do misuse terms of generalization to make your statements.”
I have no doubt that I do on occasion but in the context of a racial debate generalizations are not appropriate or helpful for ones argument.
“I do think one of many reasons that Mexicans have a harder time in our society is that they in fact moreso than other groups, do not value education.”
What? Did you join the darkside while I was on Tatooine? 🙂
I have never seen any peer reviewed or otherwise evidence of any kind that shows this lack of value on education that you speak. In fact I talk time and time again with poor Hispanic parents about the future that their children face. All of them with a 100% consider their children’s education the #1 most important thing for their future.

“they are less cognizant of the importance of education than are whites, than are chinese? ”
Absolutely not!!!!
“To deny that is to deny the importance of culture.”
No it’s not It is not away of life for the Hispanics to de-value education. It is not part of their culture. It in no way describes or represents Hispanics as a group.
The best I will give you is that cultures from what ever race each have sub-cultures that subscribe to such behaviors or beliefs. It is in no way limited to Hispanics and it is in no way limited to the poor. They are in no way representative of the larger culture as a whole. To say so is not only incorrect but racist in tone. It would be like saying punk rockers represent America.
” but it is also not to be ignored for political correctness.”
I understand what you mean buy this and I agree. There is a place and purpose for legitimate discussion of culture and racial differences but like I said before Once it crosses over into the realm of degrade and disparage it ceases to be a legitimate discussion and becomes a racist rally. This debate began with degrading comments about Hispanics. They were dirty. They were uneducated. They were poor. These are the type of comments that were thrown out. When in fact if you watch the video at the post. It showed a white woman, a black woman, and a Hispanic woman all commit the same infraction that prompted hhopper to quote: “This is a widespread problem in this country with all the legal and illegal Hispanic hotel maids” As if it happens on a greater level because they are Hispanics. In the video we witnessed at least 3 different races display the same behavior Yet many people wanted to join the “Bash the Bambino band wagon” instead of putting the blame where it most logically belongs. With the hotel managment.
