An American effort set up after the fall of the Soviet Union to hire its former weapons scientists, to keep them from selling their know-how to nations seeking nuclear, biological or chemical weapons, is now paying people who were never weapons scientists and are too young to have worked in the old Soviet program, according to Congressional auditors.

Instead, some of the money is going to hire Russians to work on a civilian nuclear power initiative that Congress has been reluctant to fund…

According to the Government Accountability Office, while the goal was to prevent technologies for weapons of mass destruction from leaving the Soviet Union, an analysis of 97 projects employing 6,450 scientists found that more than half “never claimed to have WMD experience.”

Nearly 1,000 of the scientists were born in 1970 or later. The Soviet Union dissolved in December 1991…

You do the math.

Better off to use the money to give every American a rifle and 1000 rounds to keep in the closet. Works for the Swiss.
Then take the leftover money and have plenty of big bombs and planes. They drop one on us and we drop 10 on them. Then just go about your life and don’t worry so damn much.

Anything called a “Government Accountability Office” can only produce bad news.

  3. Angel H. Wong says:

Well duh! Why pay some old, fat, bald with liver spots Russian scientists when it’s more marketable (and appealing for old, fat, bald with liver spots Republicans) to pay some young, slim, with washboard abs, male Russian hook- scientists.

  4. Animal Mother says:

This is a scandal. Our taxpayers money should only fund young female Russian scientists. They should wear lead-impregnated lingerie and stiletto heels in the lab (so they can’t smuggle out any polonium-192) and submit to body cavity searchs upon the close of every business day.

I am the only one who feels ridiculed when asked to “Do the math!”. so I am bad at math, stop kicking me when I am down.

Oh Ya! And the fishnets with the line down the back!

  7. ECA says:

    NOW, the question comes…
HOW do we get the money BACK…WHO do we SHOOT, because THEY DID IT.

  8. Bob says:

Using money that would otherwise go into the black hole of government black projects to fun a valuable civilian initiative that the fear mongering ecomentalists in congress think is bad but have no clue or real reasons to give as to why. Seems like a good use of money to me.

  9. Jamie says:

“Nearly 1,000 of the scientists were born in 1970 or later. The Soviet Union dissolved in December 1991…”
What? Weren’t you working on WMD’s in High School? If not, my science classes were much more interesting than yours, then.
