An 84-year-old former Army engineer in New Jersey has been charged with leaking dozens of secret documents about nuclear arms, missiles and fighter jets to the Israeli government during the early 1980s.

The engineer, Ben-Ami Kadish of Monroe Township, could face life in prison or possibly the death penalty if convicted on the most serious charge, prosecutors said.

His case is linked to that of Jonathan Jay Pollard, the naval analyst serving a life sentence for leaking documents to Israel around the same time. An Israeli official who came to Mr. Kadish’s house to photograph documents also received information from Mr. Pollard, prosecutors said…

According to court papers, Mr. Kadish…would sign secret documents out of the library and take them to his home in New Jersey…where the Israeli official, a science adviser at the Israeli consulate in New York, would photograph them in the basement, according to court papers.

The complaint specifically mentions three documents that Mr. Kadish is accused of leaking — one “concerning nuclear weaponry” containing “atomic-related information”; one regarding a modified version of an F-15 fighter jet that the United States sold to another country; and one containing information about the Patriot missile system…

Mr. Kadish is also charged with lying to the F.B.I. about having spoken to the Israeli official last month. On March 20, after giving a statement to the F.B.I., Mr. Kadish received a phone call from the Israeli official instructing him to lie to the authorities, and the next day, he denied having spoken to the official, the complaint says.

Guidance for U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East is run by Israel. Anyone foresee any change?

Your tax dollars at work. [sigh]

We pay for security and all we get is Security Theater. Maybe we should outsource our security to Israel. They seem to know what they are doing.

  2. Marc says:

The israeli government is getting on my nerves. I understand holocaust and all but the way they were acting since the “illegal” formation of israel towards the palestinians, lebanese, etc. is just horrific. And the fact that they own the american government is nothing new.

    FUCK AIPAC

they’re much more reasonable people and they’d never do anything like this…

this story is a load of crap.. you want me to believe that they just found out about this now? -after some 20 odd years? horsepucky.

esp since they nailed jay pollard for giving secrets to the same israeli official that kadish gave documents to.. -i suppose they never watched this official after the fact? -and that official has never been charged in these matters.? -what a load.

this would be more or less treason, imo. -and yet they sent him home on $300k bail.

me thinks this kadish guy was saved as a trump card (and fall guy) of sorts for the day when we needed to some bargaining chip at a talks-table etc. the details of the documents he shared seem to indicate they were nothing of such great value that required he be outed way back when pollard was.

(there was in-depth coverage on local news here in nyc to indicate this..)

the president is going to israel within the next month i think.. -thats the only reason why this story broke, imo. -he needs a half ass ace up his sleeve to bargain with…

Give that geezer the death penalty? lol … he looks so old he could go Ronald Reagan at any given minute and forget his own name.

I think it would be more satisfying to sentence him to one of the lower quality nursing homes, where he could be tied to a wheel chair so he couldn’t get away, like all the other nursing home patients.

“The israeli government is getting on my nerves. I understand holocaust and all”

    Don’t be so politically-correct brainwashed.
Holocaust tragedy happened to Jews, not the state of Israel. Don’t confuse Israel with Holocaust, one had nothing to do with another.

More over, Holocaust invoved only the european Jews, while the american Jews who could help them – were still happily trading with Germans. After the WWII they had the gall to blame the rest of the world for not doing enogh to prevent it… damn hipocrites LOL.

  14. ethanol says:

    Eideard (#0),

Same for you. Our foreign policy is run by Israel? Really? The Israel government has staffed the State Department and the Oval Office? Wow, news to me… Now if you want to discuss the only democratic government in the Middle East where you can practice whatever religion you’d like and the fact that there is a very strong Jewish lobby here in the United States of America, then there is a point of discussion.

Feeding the racists, anti-semites, and bigots with editorial is not your style, Eideard.

WHat is “bigoted” and “hateful” in their statements?

Holocaust indeed happened to european jews in Europe, not to the people of state of Israel.
The american Jews were very against idea of helping their borthers and sisters from Europe to move to USA.
The american jewish-owned companies and corporations were conducting business as usual with German partners while Holocaust was a public secret in USA and long under way in German-occupied Europe.

Those are the well-known facts. I hope you won’t argue with Jewish Antidefamation League?

“American Jewish leaders secretly fought against a bill … that would have opened (immigration) for European Jews”
“American Jewish leaders were more concerned with imagined consequences for American Jews than with saving actual lives. European Jews who made it out begged American Jewish officials to do more. Their pleas fell on deaf ears. One high ranking Jewish official even barred Jews from organizing their own functions on behalf of European Jews. He told the people that “parades and demonstrations would only result in a strengthening of the Nazi propaganda in America and the creation of a counter offensive in this country against the Jews””

The state of Israel is perhaps just a tiny bit more friendly to USA than its neighbouring hordes of antiamerican muslim barbarians.
However if you think that our current ally with Israel is in any way beneficiary to USA, you are either Jew yourself, or you favor Israel over USA (thus you are not american patriot obviously).

And BTW: I don’t care about anyone else’s antisemitic or antiIsraeli statements, it is their choice to form such resentment and post such statements.
We live in a (still) free country, we don’t have a “thought police” nor “thought crime” yet, therefore they CAN and are allowed to dislike Israel (or Jews) as much they want – same as you are allowed to like or love Israel, don’t you get it?
There is no law saying “we must love Israel” and even stating hatrence to Israel on this board is not a crime.
So don’t try to “win” me over your side or place me on their side, because I don’t care about neither of yous.

Jews have a right to live and practice their religion in USA same as anyone else, but the moment they put Israel over USA and spy for Israel they are TRAITORS and ought to be prosecuted.
Similarily the “jew haters” the moment they do anything the law forbids ought to be prosecuted.
Disliking someone is not forbidden nor illegal, while spying is.
    It’s as simple as that.

    You’re barking at wrong tree.

  23. 888 says:

    #20
Without us, or actually without US military and financial help, our “dirty jobs” done for Israel (Iraq, soon Iran), the state of Israel would cease to exist rather quickly.
Unfortunately for Arabs and fortunately for Jews, the state of Israel was the only (semi-)democratic state there when this alliance formed, therefore our support for Israel probably will never cease, even if by some unimaginable twist of fate all the arab states in the ME would become 100% pure democracies.

Simply put, we’re in this ME shit for many years to come 🙁

  24. ethanol says:

    888,

In no way have you responded to what I wrote. You go off on these rants unrelated to my posts or what is in the posts I address.

Your hatred of Israel is very clear, but I am awaiting your response to what I actually wrote.

As for my patriotism, I served in the United States Army and fulfilled my civic duty on the jury of a murder trial. How about you or are you old enough to do either of those yet?

  25. 888 says:

    #24

    ethanol,

I’m not involved in any civic duties, but if I ever was called for I would; I have served in the Navy, and that’s already more than what I normally would say about myself on the web (I say it to show this way my respect to your person and your service, but not neccessarily to your opinions).

I don’t hate Israel, I simple don’t care about it (or I care about it when it involves USA).
You want to know my opinion on someone elses comments? Why? I am not #2 Marc, I can assure you, LOL.
So he said “fuck aipac”. He had any rights to say it. It is a free country. It is not equal to “Jews hating”, “Israel hating” nor bigotry.
If I’ll say “fuck Bush” will you also say I hate USA?

  26. ethanol says:

    888,

Your reading and reading comprehension skills are stuck at the first grade level. Read what they wrote and what I wrote. You are off on rants accusing me of all sorts of things that simply were not written. Amazing…

Israel saved some major US ass
for example: destroying the iraqy and serian nuclear sites
we risked top pilots in a covert operation that if revealed might have meant trouble for us
but thanks to us, the threat of those countries having a dirty bomb is zero

but after all, you’re the only country that used the atomic bomb without giving it much thought

and yes – i’m jewish and live in israel
It’s not a one sided thing, you give to us, we give to you
    grow up please

and if anybody thinks the US isn’t spying on it’s allies must be blind (CIA, FBI, NSA and other agencies…)

  28. Mr. Catshit says:

    #15, 888,

The american Jews were very against idea of helping their borthers and sisters from Europe to move to USA.

Not true. The anti-semite WASP leadership and right wing nuts wouldn’t allow Jewish immigration. Have you ever heard of the SS St. Louis? or the Evian Conference? The general consensus was to disallow ANY non white, non-Northern European immigration.

“American Jewish leaders secretly fought against a bill …

Ya, right !!! It was that secret part that confirms why no one else knows about this. All you need do is put “secretly” in front of something and we are expected to buy it.

Those are the well-known facts. I hope you won’t argue with Jewish Antidefamation League?

The JDL is a bigoted, racist organization I associate on the same level as the KKK. Quoting sources such as right wing nuts as Barbara Amiel, Sir Martin Gilbert, and Charles Higham show a poor choice.

    #25,

If I’ll say “fuck Bush” will you also say I hate USA?

Well, I’ll say you aren’t all bad 😉

  29. 888 says:

    #28
I have quoted what I was asked for – that doesn’t mean I agree with it.
Yes, also in my opinion, JDL is as bigoted organization as KKK, Black Panthers or any of such racist groups out there are, regardles which race they pretend to represent (actually I’m not sure is “jewish” a race, seems only Hitler thought it is, but then I’m not an athropologist and I really don’t care).

    #27
“Israel saved some major US ass
for example: destroying the iraqy and serian nuclear sites
we risked top pilots in a covert operation that if revealed might have meant trouble for us
but thanks to us, the threat of those countries having a dirty bomb is zero”

    All true.
Yet without *our* weapons and technology Israeli forces couldn’t do it (perhaps USAF would have to do it if our Mr. Pres had guts). No matter what, as you said it, it was for mutual benefit. However the mutual benefit usually is not there if you check the history of US-Israeli relations (and I don’t mean USS Liberty or such), its just usually whatever we do in ME in all cases simply benefits Israel mostly (if not only) as it can be seen from the perspective of time.

Have a look at Iraq – we got involved in this mess not for oil, not even for democracy, but simply to knock out the teeth of the strongest anti-Israeli forces in the area (unless you believe NYT or Haaretz and tales of WMDs and such 😉 ). No one sane would have ever believed that even assuming Saddam had any WMDs he would have been ever capable of launching any attack on USA (which he never intent to, while he always dreamt of being new Arab Hero who crushed the jewish state).

    Anyways:
“Some old guy that spied back in the 80s”
    NO WAY!
A TRAITOR who was caught, nothing more or less.
Age doesn’t matter. HE should have fled to Israel if he didn’t want to be bothered. Not punishing him because of [age or whatever ‘humanitarian’ reason you want to add] would be a horrible example, and a spit in the face of US . Justice is justice, and allowing a spy to live free on US soil is unjust, I’m sure you’ll agree. I’m not calling for a Navy Seal command to be sent after him if he left to Israel, but since he had the gall to stay in USA after he conspired against it, he must be punished.

Actually, what is the sentence for spies in Israel? Isn’t it death?
Would you have said the same (to leave him alone) if it was an Arab mole working against Israel?

And how many US spies have ever been caught in Israel? (google can’t find much on the subject, yet I don’t think our spies are that good that no one was caught… 😉

  30. 888 says:

    #27
“but after all, you’re the only country that used the atomic bomb without giving it much thought”

    So unfair.
However, although the magnitude is obviously different, don’t you think it was akin to IDF airplanes attacking Iraq/Syrian nuke sites?
Israeli forces killed people working there to prevent potentially many more losses in the future. Thats probably same reason why America used nukes in Japan. (mind you, she have never used nukes again, even when it cost her terrible defeat in Vietnam)

The fact is that after Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan surrendered.
Anything else is just “what if” no one knows for sure.

If I was the President back then, I honestly don’t know what I would do.
To sacrifice lives of my own men (which certainly many would have been lost if we had to invade Japan) or to sacrifice many enemy civillians? Tough choice.
People of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have paid terrible price for the mistakes of their own government and attacking USA, that’s for sure.
