HALIFAX COUNTY: North Carolina cops are searching for a guy who successfully passed a $200 bill bearing George W. Bush’s portrait and a drawing of the White House complete with lawn signs reading “We like ice cream” and “USA deserves a tax cut.” The phony Bush bill was presented to a cashier at a Food Lion in Roanoke Rapids on September 6 by an unidentified male who was seeking to pay for $150 in groceries. Remarkably, the cashier accepted the counterfeit note and gave the man $50 change. In a separate incident involving a different perp, Roanoke Rapids cops Tuesday arrested Michael Harris, 24, for attempting last month to pass an identical $200 Bush bill at a convenience store.

The quality of help these days………

  1. Q says:

I must say, the serial number of “DUBYA4U2001” was a nice touch…

  2. siegling says:

I’m waiting for the $300 Dvorak bill.

  3. Jägermeister says:

    #1 – siegling

    You mean 300 pesos, right?

  4. Ah_Yea says:

So now we know what note George is going to use to bail out the stock market.

  5. JimR says:

#3, ya beat me to it (except he’s bailing out the financial institutions).

  6. Judge Jewdy says:

He’s got his mothers picture on the one dollar bill.

  7. ECA says:

    Umm,
    New cashier..
Had to be a Kid, Im hoping..
    They got fired, for sure.

Who taught this Person the denominations of our currency?? She never played with GAME MONEY??

  8. ECA says:

This is as bad, as the guy that used a REAL $2 bill and got arrested because the Cashier DIDNT know her money.
He had to WAIT in jail for the FEDs..As the cops didnt even know.

  9. GigG says:

#5 It is fraud at best counterfeiting at worst. You say, “But it isn’t a real denomination.” It doesn’t matter. Haven’t you ever been to Vegas ans seen the signs that explain it is a violation of federal law to use chips as currency outside the casino?

  10. Reggie J says:

I wish I could pass Bush on and get some money back. This corrupt bastard ruined us all. GWB, yet another infringement on our rights by the gov’t. Add it to the ever-growing list of violations:
They violate the 1st Amendment by opening mail, caging demonstrators and banning books like “America Deceived” from Amazon, Wikipedia and Facebook.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns during Katrina.
They violate the 4th Amendment by conducting warrant-less wiretaps.
They violate the 5th and 6th Amendment by suspending habeas corpus.
They violate the 8th Amendment by torturing at Gitmo.
They violate the entire Constitution by starting illegal wars without declaration.
Impeach them all (both parties) and save this great country.

  11. With our current financial debacle with debasing and devaluation of U.S. currencies to pay off crooks and malingerers in the financial trades the Bush dollar may be better value
You can only slice a pie so many times
A Pizza can only be sliced so many times into so many pieces of pizza

  12. Springheel Jack says:

Why are people in the South so stupid? It must be something in the water.

  13. #12 – SJ

It took you this long to figure that out? I knew when all the redneck f&cks and KKK’ers voted for Dumbya (in spite of how he’s driving them out of their trailers and shotgun shacks) that they had some kind of problem.

  14. ECA says:

    #9,
But anything can be received as payment for goods.
    The cashier Willingly ACCEPTED payment.
iF THE CASHIER mis-EVALUATED THE BILL, thats her problem.
tHE PROBLEM comes WHEN the Prankster LEFT the building.

  15. Brian says:

I remember trying to use a $2 bill recently at Wal-Mart. The cashier (who was from Mexico or South America) got very upset and refused to take it. When I insisted they talked about the police and then called the manager. The manager finally told her it was ok and they took the bill.

  16. eyeofthetiger says:

The bill does have that Peruvian coke tent to the green color. It is quite possible the fed reserve printed off a couple pallets for those late night house parties.

  17. troublemaker says:

Hmmm… not sure what all the fuss is about. It was probably worth the same as a real bill.

  18. Springheel Jack says:

I don’t think everyone from the South is a member of the KKK or a racist; I just think they are all stupid. Black, white, conservative or liberal, they are all dumb slack-jawed yokels. Jethro Clampett is the most intelligent Southerner I ever saw. Perhaps it is the heat or the inbreeding.

  19. what is fake? says:

what is fake about this note?

  20. Glenn E. says:

I don’t know about the south being a stupider breed of people. But that Food Lions employ kids who barely know what legal tender is, or how to make change (with a machine to tell them). Kind of tells you the state of the US economy. A smarter and more experienced person, would probably be considered “over qualified” for the job. Perhaps some nepotism was involved in this particular cashier’s employment. He or she might not even speak english, or been a citizen. Our government has been dumping foreign war refugees onto small towns like this. Do they get automatic citizenship, from the State Department?

The phony bill is more of a political statement, than a serious attempt to counterfeit. With of all those wise cracks printed on the bill. But simply that it is the size of a legal bill, is probably cause enough for prosecution. Regardless of how phony it looks. If the size had been made substantially larger or smaller. Then maybe the counterfeit charge wouldn’t stick. Just as the bill being shown here on the Dvorak website, does not constitute counterfeiting currency. I think.

  21. GigG says:

#21 That and trying to pass it.

  22. bobbo says:

I wonder if the passer did it as a complete and total joke thinking it would make a good laugh, and then just took advantage?

I don’t know what the law is regarding counterfeiting but there is a theft here. If you “knowingly” get change on a $20 when you gave a $10 and you keep it==thats theft. Hard to prove prior intent when its a 20 vs a 10, but easy to prove when its a bushie bill.

  23. deowll says:

Since there is no such bill in circulation I don’t think these men did anything illegal.

  24. OvenMaster says:

#21: ten real bucks says the clerk had “graduated” from a public school system.

  25. ECA says:

    25,
And the parents didnt give a damn.
I hope you agree, that EDUCATION must come from BOTH, school and parents.
    NOT the baby sitter,
    NOT the TV,
    NOT the video game,

I knew HOW to count change when I WAS 10..

  26. Mr. Fusion says:

The bill appears to be a genuine note issued by the government. It was given in exchange for a debt. That means it will meet the rules to qualify as counterfeit.

If it was just passed around as a joke it would probably be considered a joke. That changed as soon as the holder pretended it was real.

  27. ECA says:

    27,
    common sense..
    1. is there a $200 bill?
    2. WHO would accept a $200 bill as payment?
    3. PAPER. The feel of the bill. IS it real monetary paper?
    4. ink?? same question.
    5. there are TESTS for TRUE non-counterfeit bills, and cashiers are SUPPOSED to check bills over $20.

The FAULT comes with the person AFTEr he left the scene.
The person accepted the payment in form. As in trade for materials/service rendered. If there is a sign up, about NO TRADE, fine.

  28. Bukowski says:

    What about the $500 Gore-bill?:D

  29. Chickens Are Home says:

Lock up the idiot cashiers that took those phony bills!

  30. Paddy-O says:

Wait! These bills aren’t legal tender? Oh, sh#@!
