Here is what Gary Shapiro CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) said: Dvorak's writing sings with insight and clarity. Whether or not you agree with John's views, he will get you thinking and is never boring. These essays are worth the read!

Wow, way to ruin one of the best songs ever written.
lyrics:
“…you had me at hello,
I want an iiiiiiiPod…”
J.C. Dvorak, are all the people in the IT industry you meet this deranged?
I like it. It shows some people with passion. That beats pessimism in my book any day.
It’s amazing the reception this got in the Mac universe. Everyone there is praising it to be “hilarious” and “brilliant” but what would people say if it was a song about a Nokia or Motorola song.
Personally, I found it to be lame and the precise reason why his TV show just got cancelled after only 4 episodes. The guy tries too hard to be funny and the only reason his “comedy” works is because he caters to a very specific audience (Apple enthusiasts)
(BTW, I am a mac user. I just don’t subscribe to the idea that just because you prefer a certain product doesnt mean you have to defend the company who makes it.)
Step away from the credit card . . . take a DEEP breath and exhale slowly . . . IT’S . . . JUST . . . A . . . PHONE

“I like it. It shows some people with passion. That beats pessimism in my book any day.”
Thats the biggest problem in the industry today. People are forgetting that they are CONSUMERS. They go around defending these big corporate giants rather than evaluating their products with a critical eye.
It’s not “pessimism” when you pick out flaws in a product. It’s being a person who wants to make sure their money goes into a great product rather than the pockets of a “great” company.
What flaws? It’s poifect.
The dullest collection of whiners around. Can’t get past your Apple hardon, eh?
Never never seen anything of Pogue’s before; but, it’s amusing. You’re upset because it’s not about the PS3 or Scooter Libby? Bullshit! Get beyond your fanboy/antifanboy hangups.
Gawwwd does he sing awfully !!!
Did any one coined the term “Apple Otaku” ? No? Good… Now I did.
That’s what I thought seeing those guys in line and also the Dvorak video of “The Line”…
Here’s a report on another line… http://www.gameaxis.com/home/?blog=752
At least here the goal was much more reasonable.
Come to think of it, the DS has almost all of the iPhone hardware (ARM processors, touch screen, wifi…)except of the related to the phone radio/voice processing ability, and it costs a third…hmmm… How much is Apple raking on this iPhone thing and will it plunge later on to reasonable prices!!!
Well that’s what V2.0 is for…
That was actually pretty good singing. I like the video for it’s production values. Also, you can watch satirically if you’re not a fan or apple or just normally if you are. You guys are way to cranky…
cant get the Vid up….
It’s a phone, and, according to some of the reviews I’ve read, it’s not even a particularly good phone. But it’s got a lot of glitzy crap built in, and there are legions of people being suckered down the marketing hype whirlpool. For myself, all I want is a phone, with a speed dialer, and that’s about it. I kept my last phone for over five years, and that got a titter or two when I went to the phone store for a new one, and I’ve had that one nearly two years. Thing is, you can’t buy “just” a phone anymore, they are all packed with features that a lot of folks (like me) will never use, but we have to subsidize the extra cost of these whizbangers so the gear heads will have yet another toy to play with.
Looks like it’s supposed to be silly. If you’ve ever lived in NYC, you might understand the silliness a bit easier. But, if you don’t get it – and several of you don’t – that’s not silly, that’s sad.
14 – Omar – Yeah! What you said.
GAY GAY GAY
Oh boy….the perfect post for my latest youtube find. This should get the neocon hawks and the Macboys all going.
This is just great.

14 – I happen to agree 100% with my own requirements for a cellphone. So what? Why prate and prance about raving about the joy of asceticism?
Some folks only need a terminal for email and 2 websites. Some utilize a computer with a world of choices. The holds true for cellphones or any other electronic device capable of a range of choices.
Turning a simple question of choosing a device to match your needs – into a religious decision is absurd. Trouble is – as noted before – fanboys and antifanboys seem only capable of judging the usefulness of a product by who designed it. Equally absurd.
As silly as the whole “my country, right or wrong? banaiity.
This is a clear challenge to John C. Dvorak to record his own musical video. Come on John, pick up the gauntlet.
Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t the iPhone made in China as well?

Since I can’t play the video on my iPhone this thread doesn’t do much for me.
However, it’s nice to know we can move on to an honest discussion about the device, since the “it sucks” crowd had been destroyed… Including the ignorant fools around here that can’t keep from posting the same shit about the tech story of the year (see above).
